30While Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage is a notably shorter experience than Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty....
For as much as LittleBigPlanet Karting has been pushed as a kart racer, the biggest surprise about thegame is that this is the first title in the series to truly offer 3D space level design and customization. Even if this comes at the expense of the ModNation Racers brand, at least this collaboration makes for an adequate proving ground for more LittleBigPlanet games beyond the 2D plane.
Doom 3: BFG Edition is, without a doubt, the definitive collection for fans of this series. The package brings together virtually every Doom offering that has ever existed, with additions like the "duct tape" mod and The Lost Missions amounting to delicious gravy. We've seen many iterations of the various games in re-releases over the years, but BFG Edition is the best.
One way I've described this expansion is that rather than it seeming like a new chapter in the large book of WoW, it seems like you're picking up a whole new novel. Mists might not be able to keep me interested for all that long with some of the other competing MMOs on the market out there, but for now, it has me happily and hopelessly addicted to WoW again . . .at least for a little while.
Despite all of its flaws, I'd still consider Tokyo Jungle a decent arcade title. You definitely have to learn from your experiences while playing, and if you're a completionist, unlocking all the animals and story mode archives can be a challenging yet rewarding enterprise. I wouldn't say that Tokyo Jungle is a must play title by any means, but for just $15 I'd say it's almost worth it just to play one of the strangest games the PSN has to offer.
The animations are flawless and delightfully colored. Certain scenes, like a silhouetted battle in a mountaintop monastery, shone through the silliness of the game and offered something stunning to look at. If you have a brother, a sister, a roommate or a significant other . . . you absolutely must buy this game.
Madden NFL 13 has a few rough patches, but it’s still such a solid experience that they don’t take away from the overall quality of the game, making it one of the more solid Madden releases in recent memory.
The Expendables 2 is a short, stupid, bite-sized treat. Like a bag of Funyuns, it’s good for a while, but you can only take so much. The game’s biggest shortfall is the fact that it rings up at a whopping $15, which is probably about $10 more than I would be willing to pay for the quality it delivers.
The real strength of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is how expertly High Moon leverages the characters and mythology to create a cinematic shooter that stands on the strength of its design and gameplay, rather than leaning on its license as a crutch. Transformers fans will be in heaven, but even if you’re just a fan of blowing stuff up real good, Fall of Cybertron is a ride well worth taking.
Persona 4 Arena is as eccentric and Japanese as it gets. Anyone who has ever enjoyed a JPRG will love the game even if fighting games aren’t their forte. The gameplay is designed to appeal to anyone from novice to pro, so even passing fighting fans will be able to make it through story mode with limited difficulty.
