- The Expendables 2 is a short, stupid, bite-sized treat. Like a bag of Funyuns, it’s good for a while, but you can only take so much. The game’s biggest shortfall is the fact that it rings up at a whopping $15, which is probably about $10 more than I would be willing to pay for the quality it delivers.
Jonathan Deesing · Aug 22, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - The controls are clunky, the graphics are student project-basic, the plot isn’t worth discussing and the levels so repetitive you’ll have seen all it has to offer within half an hour. This game should have you wrestling fools to the ground, stomping on faces and having an awesome time, but instead you’re wresting a crappy gameplay mechanic and stomping on your controller in frustration. It’s not worth the space on your hard drive.
Mike Jackson · Aug 21, 2012 Reviewed on PS3 - The Expendables 2: The Game has very few redeemable qualities. The gameplay completely misses the mark, and leaves you feeling like you are battling the controls more than you are fighting the enemy. Polish issues pop-up regularly, the story makes no sense, the enemies are boring, and the list goes on. Also, only three out of a cast of a dozen action stars have likenesses that are in the game.
Lorenzo Veloria · Aug 14, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - The Expendables 2 VideoGame has all the ingredients to be good but it fails to bring it all together and ends up being a mediocre experience at the very best. The novelty of the movie tie-in isn’t enough to either warrant the $15 price tag or even compete against other twin stick shooters on the PSN like “All Zombies Must Die!” and “Dead Nation”. Overall, The Expendables 2 VideoGame remains very… expendable.
Shad Forsyth · Aug 10, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - I don't see any real reason that anyone would enjoy The Expendables 2 Video Game other than an undying love of Sylvester Stallone. There's a lot of poorly implemented gameplay mechanics in this game that make it as much of a throwback as the actors in the upcoming movie. If you really have an cooperative itch to scratch, there are much better alternatives out there.
William Schwartz · Aug 08, 2012 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - This is one of the worst games I've played in a long time. And it's not necessarily because of the clunky controls, vapid shooting, or myriad of other issues that are at play here. The Expendables 2 Videogame just isn't fun. It's a long and tedious slog through the mud and a thousand enemy corpses, where time is the only thing that separates you from the end credits.
Kyle MacGregor · Aug 07, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - If you enjoy old-school shooters of this sort, The Expendables 2 is a reasonable diversion, even if you've never paid any attention to the films. The game does a reasonable job of delivering simplistic enjoyment, making it a functional time-waster but little else.
Jason Venter · Aug 06, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - This game has no purpose. It’s one of the worst wastes of time I’ve ever had to review. It has no direction, shoddy controls, an ugly look, and possibly the most absent plot in the modern console generation. It’s an embarrassment, even as movie games go. I implore you to steer clear of this title at all costs.
Ray Carsillo · Aug 06, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - The Expendables 2 just doesn't click as a package. It's never anything special. There's lots of action, but it's not exciting. There's an upgrade system, but it's uninteresting. There's a lot of content, but it's just the same stuff again and again. If you want to shoot and clop through the battlefield with friends, cool, but you won't miss much if you skip The Expendables 2.
GREG MILLER · Aug 03, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Downloadable movie-licensed games have had a particularly rough run in recent years, so there's no reason why anyone should have expected anything from this game. And yet a twinge of dismay continuously stuck with me as I played through crappy level after crappy level of The Expendables 2. There's a fine idea for a game here, but either the talent or the budget (or both) wasn't there to make it work. Chalk this one up to a sadly missed opportunity.
