- LittleBigPlanet Karting includes a toolset which players can use to build visually and mechanically imaginative creations; which I suppose is the most important thing to nail when creating a LittleBigPlanet game. United Front has done that swimmingly, actually producing tools that are more inviting than those of the LittleBigPlanet platformers. It's just puzzling that, when it came time to utilize those tools, the developer came up short.

The races and events are thrilling and the rewards are gratifying. LittleBigPlanet Karting does an great job of mixing franchise's creative features and delivering strong racing gameplay to make one of the most adorable and enjoyable kart racers you can find.
Lorenzo Veloria · Nov 29, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - I have no doubt LBP Karting will sell, but it will be more the result of brand equity than LBP Karting being a truly innovative karting title. The creation experience is as simple or as deep as you make it, but strip away the LBP veneer and you have a rather basic karting game where gameplay carries the most weight in my book. LBP Karting falls just short of being a good game because the actual gameplay just feels a bit too elementary.
Shad Forsyth · Nov 20, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - For as much as LittleBigPlanet Karting has been pushed as a kart racer, the biggest surprise about thegame is that this is the first title in the series to truly offer 3D space level design and customization. Even if this comes at the expense of the ModNation Racers brand, at least this collaboration makes for an adequate proving ground for more LittleBigPlanet games beyond the 2D plane.
Miguel Concepcion · Nov 14, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - If you're a fan of Mario Kart, LBP Karting will be thoroughly enjoyable with familiar controls and adorable characters. The planets of the Craftverse are varied enough to keep you playing through the Story mode, while the creation mode gives you all the tools you need to spend any number of days crafting your own unique racing experience.
Joshua Vanderwall · Nov 10, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Ultimately, I guess it’s hard to stand by any claims that LittleBigPlanet Karting could be seen as a huge evolution to the genre; it does take some age-old ideas, though, and coat them in adorable LBP paint. Still, it offers both a substantial kart racing experience and a heaping serving of that LBP flavor we’ve grown to love. It’s not perfect, but it’s an absolute blast.
Josh Wirtanen · Nov 09, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - It cleaves rather closely to the genre's established formula, though it does add a few wrinkles to the equation, namely the grappling hook and the very welcome ability to defend oneself against power-ups. Perhaps even more important than its competent gameplay, however, is that it empowers its players to create and enjoy a limitless number of tracks and games in perpetuity. I daresay that fans of either "creatinating" or kart racing will not be disappointed.
Richard Mitchell · Nov 09, 2012 Reviewed on PS3 - Overall, LBP Karting plays pretty much like any other decent kart racing game we’ve played. However, the addition of collectible bubbles and platforming elements delivers a fresh impetus, while the LBP style gives it an aesthetically pleasing appeal. What makes this karting game extra special though is the customisation options.
Steven Williamson · Nov 06, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - It’s got its quirks; playing against the CPU can be a frustrating ordeal, and some of the autopilot weapons too often release you into tricky positions, sometimes even dropping you off the course completely. But the solid racing core laid out by ModNation Racers combined with the universe of creativity, variety and charm that the LBP franchise in known for makes for a karting game with near limitless potential and unrivaled multiplayer racing fun.
Mike Jackson · Nov 06, 2012 Reviewed on PS3 - The existence of LittleBigPlanet Karting is a bit of a head-scratcher. It sort of already exists in the form of ModNation Racers, and to make matters more confusing, it was made by the same development team. Ignoring that weird overlap, however, LittleBigPlanet Karting is a fun racer that almost feels more like a LittleBigPlanet game than it does a kart racer. This is more than just a vehicle for Sackboy’s mascot potential. It’s a new LittleBigPlanet game.
