69Reviewing Threes! has been one of the few games, admittedly, I’ve been addicted to. Its simple pick to play, and a lifetime to master mechanic coupled with a charming presentation makes Threes! a class of its own. If you enjoy puzzle games or just games in general, you owe it to yourself to pick this gem up.
The controls are responsive but the one-finger gesture-based controls might need an enhancement. I like the replay value it presents as you can practice all you want, play against others in Multiplayer mode, and build a dynasty in Multi-Season game mode. The gameplay, however, may become more annoying than enjoyable.
Just try to be patient with the controls and stick with it. If you aren’t tolerant, it may frustrate you. Anyway, this Android game might have been better if they just re-mastered the original.
There really isn’t much more to say about LEGO Technic Racing, because there really isn’t much to the game. It’s a free to play title made to advertise a line of toys, and it does the bare minimum necessary to achieve that goal. It’s not bad, strictly speaking; it just sets a very low bar for itself, accomplishes what it set out to do, and nothing more. It’s decent enough to kill a little time, and perhaps some children could find enjoyment in it for a slightly longer term. But with so little going on here, even that is debatable.
In the end, the addictive nature and interesting social elements in Royal Revolt 2 is easily overshadowed by its pay to win model. Sure, players enjoy without spending a dime, but it will take the most patient of gamers to do so.
Out There is a beautiful, immersive space exploration game that can keep you occupied for hours on end. The amazing artwork, mood-setting music, and naration of the game really make it seem like you are with him, out there, all alone and trying to get home. The more I played it, the more enticed I was by it, and the more I wanted to play it. The developer has done a really nice job here.
Fans will be able to get a lot of mileage out of this, thanks to the range of choices to carry the story forward at every turn. However, at this price, it’s hard to recommend to players who are neither into gamebooks nor have heard of the book series. If you do decide to embark on this quest, be sure to practice your spells — and watch out for the Manticore.
Smash Hit is a simple premise with an effective presentation, and is overall rather addictive. There seems to be a slightly growing trend of games being produced with a more serene nature in mind as you make your way through various levels with unique styles and a lack of enemies to speak of (NightSky being a good example of this). Smash Hit feels like the latest game to be made in such a style, and is definitely worth checking out.
Nevertheless, if you have the patience to grind and invest your time to advance, Frontline Commando 2 is a good title to try. This Android game is not suited for those with issues with freemium elements or wants variety in gameplay.
The only particular thing to recommend being aware of is the game’s advertising of over 100 levels spread across it’s four stages; we counted only 60, though the game notes that there are more to come soon.
