- The controls are responsive but the one-finger gesture-based controls might need an enhancement. I like the replay value it presents as you can practice all you want, play against others in Multiplayer mode, and build a dynasty in Multi-Season game mode. The gameplay, however, may become more annoying than enjoyable.
Patrick Garde · Apr 08, 2014 Reviewed on AndRead full review - NBA 2K14 plays well enough on the court, but the rest of the game fails to match it. It's not a turn for the worse for the highly regarded series. But it's the first NBA 2K title in years that I can't unequivocally recommend especially with next-generation versions of the game only six weeks away.
Samit Sarkar · Jan 09, 2014 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - With great graphics come great loading times, though. PS4 is practically a PC, albeit a nicely-packaged one, and we all know what PC games come with: load times! The load time for NBA 2K14 is pretty long when waiting to get into games, and the installation time is longer still. ...Long load times nonwithstanding, features like MyTeam and NBA Today are not available if you aren’t able to connect to the 2K Sports server either.
Mary-Anne Lee · Dec 27, 2013 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - NBA 2K14 is a gorgeous looking game, with a vastly improved MyCareer mode and an in depth MyGM mode. MyTeam is something that will take plenty of time to get into and enjoy. However the inclusion of microtransactions and the need for an internet connection have a major impact on how easy it is to recommend this game. Still, it’s the best basketball game on the market.
Aran Suddi · Dec 11, 2013 Reviewed onRead full review - NBA 2K14 on the PS4 is a stunning digital facsimile of basketball. The title’s visually jaw dropping, technically stunning, and represents a whole different ball game to its PS3 counterpart. The new My Career and My GM campaigns don’t always score a slam dunk, but they’re engaging enough to dribble your way through, making this is a top option if you’re eager to shoot some hoops on Sony’s next generation console.
Greg Giddens · Dec 04, 2013 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - There’s no doubt that NBA 2K14 is a great looking game on the PS4. It’s by far the best we’ve ever seen from Visual Concepts. It makes for a more believable on-screen affair, but the lack of game modes and online features is worrying as to how long the fun will last. You could argue the case that NBA 2K14 is worth picking up just to see these next-gen graphics in action, but if you’re a longtime fan of the series, you aren’t going to be able to overlook some of the content that didn’t make it into this version of the game.
William Schwartz · Nov 19, 2013 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Overall, NBA 2K14 on next-gen is ambitious, but flawed. While the majority of the on-court improvements are brilliant, they’re let down by certain aspects of the presentation that either feel old or imperfectly implemented. Don’t misunderstand: this is absolutely the best version of NBA 2K14, but despite the big visual and storytelling improvements, the game has brought plenty of baggage with it from current-gen.
Rich Grisham · Oct 24, 2013 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Visually everything is stimulating, the sounds are present, and you sense the atmosphere of the surrounding the action. NBA 2K14 isn’t ground-breaking, but still a very solid game. You get all of your expected positives and negatives to a franchise that has taken over as head of the class in its category. With outside pressure coming, it will be interesting to see how 2K adapts to stay on top.
PS Lifestyle Staff · Oct 11, 2013 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - NBA 2K14 rewards those willing to learn a new way to use the right joystick and takes from still existing modes everything great that they have to offer. Though the experience may be narrow, the beautiful, immersive gameplay stands on its own among the rest of the sports gaming genre.
Timothy Nunes · Oct 11, 2013 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Jumping right back in the flow of NBA 2K shouldn’t be a problem for past fans of the series. There are plenty of new moves and plays to delve into, though new players may have some time getting used to controls, as the way the game moves can be somewhat of an acquired taste. Without any sort of current competition, NBA 2K14 offers what it does, and we have to take it.
