The amazing thing about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is how the game is able to bring third party characters into the mix, with the likes of Street Fighter’s Ryu, Sonic the Hedgehog, and many more. As it turns out, the devs tried to get one more character added to the mix— Kingdom Hearts’ Sora.

Talking to Kinda Funny Games, Senior Editor at Game Informer Imran Khan revealed that Disney—specifically Disney Japan—had denied including Sora in Smash Bros. He didn’t go into specifics as to why Sora was denied, but I guess it probably has something to do with protecting the brand—and we know how protective Disney can be about that.

If anything, there are two more Square Enix characters that can be played in the game, and that’s Cloud from Final Fantasy VII and Hero from Dragon Quest. Maybe Disney Japan will change their minds down the line if fans ask for it enough. Fan petitions can only go so far nowadays. It’s likely that they could change their minds close to the release of the next Kingdom Hearts entry, but I’m not saying anything is set in stone.

Legendary game worlds and fighters collide in the ultimate showdown—a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series for the Nintendo Switch system! New fighters, like Inkling from the Splatoon series and Ridley from the Metroid series, make their Super Smash Bros. series debut alongside every Super Smash Bros. fighter in the series…EVER!

For more free mobile gaming goodness, check out our full list of FREE Android games and FREE iOS games.

The playscore is an average of gamer and critic ratings. If a game only receives ratings from gamers BUT NOT from critics, it receives a gamerscore.

15. Idle Army Base

Idleness is the enemy of the soul, but not when it's Uncle Sam who's asking.

In Neon Play's Idle Army Base, you get to manage the goings of your local Army Base and your job is to get as many people into the patriotic spirit as possible. Beginning with a bus load of recruits, you'll see them every step of the way--from their first lineup for signups, to the push ups they need to bulk up.

The only thing is, the game gives players a slow start. There's not enough money to improve things, and the snail's pace is pretty much like watching paint dry. If you wanna speed things up, you'll have to pay up real cash.

Not really much of a good deal, it still made to the list with gamerscore of 8.80 on the iOS and 8.21 on the Android.

14. Sort It 3D

As we discover from shows like Netflix's Tidying Up With Marie Kondo, sorting things into their most organized forms is zen AF. This indie made title by Oz Maharshak exploits that fact. Instead of households and boxes, though, you get balls and beakers. Put them into their color-coded places and roll through their many levels.

The challenge doesn't change much throughout the game, but it always has that rewarding feeling of getting things done. However, it's still a free game, and sometimes it even interrupts you once you're getting into the heat of the sorting.

It receives a gamerscore of 8.80.

13. Stickman Battle

Ragdoll physics meets stick figures once more in this ultimate battle to be the best stickfighter in the comic universe. If you thought this was gonna be like any other stick game you've seen before, you're wrong.

Because other than the sticky stuff we're used to, OneSoft's Stickman Battle also comes with various super skins that will get you into the groove. Get into the high flying combat as you soar and flail about as one of their many cool characters.

It's a free game though so you can't expect too much sophistication. And, as a free game, expect a lot of ads if you want those sweet upgrades.

It receives a gamerscore of 8.80.

12. G.I. Joe: War On Cobraon

There's always been two sides to a story. In this latest mobile game from the GI Joe series, you get to pick which side you're gunning for--whether it's the good guys or the bad.

In terms of visuals and gameplay, War on Cobra definitely knows how to impress. It might not be the most original idea, but its strategy mechanics aren't just executed well, they also deliver it with sleek, modern-looking art style that makes you feel in control of the action.

Where you might not feel in control, though, is in their microtransactions. As a free game, energy and resources will run out quick and you might have to get through long waits if you don't want to cough up cash for their starter bundles.

It's still good enough to get here though with a gamerscore of 8.80 on the Android and iOS.

11. Tap Tap Fish - Abyssrium Pole

Tapping games have the habit of getting a little to hectic. FLERO GAMES' Abyssrium Pole, on the other hand, is determined to be the complete opposite. In it, you don't just get a tank, you get the whole place to yourself, complete with corals, fish friends, and most especially, a cheery iceberg that asks philosophical questions, wondering things like "where would all my friends go if I disappeared?" out loud.

So, it's dark like that. But it all just balances out, thanks to its soothing atmosphere that draws you into its mesmerizing world. While microtransactions are the lifeblood of tapping games, this one gives you more than enough resources to enjoy to enjoy it as it is.

It receives gamerscores of 8.80 on the both Android and iOS.

10. Dream League Soccer 2020

If you're ever itching for a new FREE football experience on the go, Dream League Soccer answers to all your needs with this latest installment from First Touch Games. Get your very own team and use your skills to guide them to the championships!

For true blue soccer fans, it's kinda similar to your run of the mill FIFA experience. But unlike FIFA, Dream League Soccer doesn’t have the most optimized gameplay mechanics for the mobile. Instead of touches and swipes, its keypad system is more like console counterparts that require a lot more precision than the smartphone can offer. It’s also not as pretty in the graphics department.

However, for this month at least, Dream League Soccer 20 is the best in the free football experience with a gamerscore of 8.80 on the iOS and a gamerscore of 7 on the Android.

9. Word Relax!

Sometimes all a day needs is a cup of coffee and a word game that pays you back. Developed by V Long Technology, Word Relax invites you to a world of vocabulary where your knowledge will get you closer to actual money.

It plays pretty like any other word game out there. The only difference is that for a set number of words found, you'll find your pockets just a tiny bit heavier. Of course, to balance out the system, you may have to sit through a bunch of ads to get even close to that million dollar dream.

But, if that's your thing, Word Relax comes highly recommended. Not available worldwide, it gets a gamerscore of 8.80.

8. Arknights

Here to represent the Japanese RPG this month is a game from Yostar Limited. At first glance, Arknights will win you over with the beauty of their Japanese art style, expressed in the detail of their avatars, as well as their chibi forms in battle.

And speaking of battle, they got loads to offer on that end too. Combining collective card game and tower defense into one, the game rewards you for the expert use of the characters they have on offer. Defend your base against the onslaught of enemies, and live to play another day.

A mobile with clearly so much to offer, this is not gonna be the last we see of this game with gamerscores of 8.80 on the Android, and 8.79 on the iOS.

7. Epic Race 3D

The smartphone games market isn’t always perfect. Sometimes, we have remarkable additions that you can’t believe is on the mobile. But sometimes we have the bare minimum. Good Job Games' Epic Race 3D is an example of the latter.

Clearly inspired by the likes of American Ninja Warrior, Epic Race 3D seems to have gone away with all the things that would’ve made it fun-er. For one, actual models instead of vague color blobs. And more gameplay than speeds and stops.

It’s a multiplayer game that does pit you with other people around the globe, but it’s not really much of a competition. Perhaps as you get deeper into their gamut of EPIC races, it could get pretty heated. But it’ll take you a while, and a ton of ads, to get there.

It receives a gamerscore of 8.80.

6. Mineblast!!

For a free game, this next title actually has some potential. Developed by Neutronized Mineblaster takes you into the underground world of gold and gemstones. Using your directional keys, dig deeper into the mines and collect as much treasures as you can using the dynamite sticks at your disposal.

Even if it seems simple at first, the game will eventually challenge you to manage your resources, and plan out the places and patterns of your kabooms. And, on top that, their retro graphics are cute too.

If you hold out through the ads and the premium offer, Mineblaster is pretty good with gamerscores of 8.93 on the Android and 8.14 on the iOS.

5. Flick Goal!

Football with a dash of new flavor. Gameguru's Flick Goal appeals to anyone who's ever dreamed of being the next Wayne Rooney. All you have to do is swipe in the direction of the best goal spot, and make it through each and every obstacle.

You don't need exercise to be good at this game. Just draw the right lines, and rake in the rewards of collecting coins along the way. It's another one of those simple games where the only investment is the time you spend watching ads.

Not yet available in all countries, you may have to check the store yourself if you want a piece of the goal-kicking action.

It received a gamerscore of 9.17 on the Android and 8.80 on iOS

4. Retro Bowl

What with the Superbowl hype still going, our next game will get you ready for the thrill of the real-life fight by giving you your very own team to manage. Instead of just one aspect of American Football, you get to make the choices for everything from stadiums, staff, and, of course, your all time roster.

But, that doesn’t mean you don’t get to kick it either. In it, you’ll also have a few snippets of the action in their signature retro form. Play the quarterback with the arms of steel, dodge the onslaught of tacklers, and lineup your shots for those clutch field goals.

Retro Bowl went for the minimal look, but it definitely has a lot to offer the casual American Football fan with a gamerscores of 9.36 on the Android and 8.80 on the iOS.

3. Super Stick Fight Man

Stick fighters have been around since time immemorial but this month’s third best FREE title raises the stakes to SUPER levels to stick it to the stick fight man.

Developed by White Shark Studio, Super Stick Fight Man is all about arcade enjoyment. Tap right and left to bring down the hordes of enemies and clear the waves to receive power ups for the next big fight. It has a roguelike element to it too, as you battle to make it past all 30 stages or risk going to square one--arguably stronger and smarter than before.

If you’re in for a fun, action-packed game that’ll give your hands a break from idleness, this one is a keeper with a gamerscore of 9.71.

2. Words Luck: Search, Spin & Win

It's one thing to get a game absolutely free, it's another to have a game throw money at you. Words Luck is not your ordinary word game. For the same brainpower needed to get through all the other word games on the market, our number two FREE title this month gives it all back one way or another.

It's a game that's been described by reviewers as "addictive," and thats probably because, at its core, it's pretty much a gambling game. That means, be very careful where you put your money. If you're aware of the risks, you can probably give it a try. Unfortunately, it's not available in every part of the globe.

It gets a gamerscore of 9.77.

1. Grand Mountain Adventure

The only game that got a full-fledged playscore this month. This month’s best free game didn’t just receive high marks from gamers, but from the critics too.

Getting that luxury ski holiday might only be a dream for most of us, our first game this month will give us that experience for absolutely free. Sure, you won't have the chilly weather and the cute outfits, but at least it also spares your knees.

Take on the rolling hills of the alps and discover challenges that's hidden underneath all that white sleet. There will be some in-app purchases within the game, but it's mostly to offer all of the goodies that come with unlocking the full experience.

Developed by Toppluva AB, it gets playscores of 8.56 on the iOS and 8.44 on the Android.

Despite being a newer console, the Nintendo Switch doesn’t boast the same kind of power as the likes of the PS4 and Xbox One. With a lot of people excited for the release of Cyberpunk 2077 this year, it’s possible that the game may not come to the Switch at all.

Talking to OnMSFT, CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais explains that Cyberpunk may be too heavy for the Switch. When asked about the game coming to the platform, he says:

Not as far as I know. Not yet. I don’t know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on the Nintendo Switch. It might be too heavy for it. But then, we did put Witcher 3 on it and we thought that would be too heavy too but somehow we pulled it off.

While the developers did find a way to bring The Witcher 3 to the Switch, Cyberpunk is a whole new animal for developers. Then again, Mamais did make the point that they were able to pull off what they thought was initially impossible. Who knows, maybe the devs will find a way down the line; I mean, if there’s money to be made, I don’t think there’s too much harm in trying.

For now, Cyberpunk 2077 has been significantly delayed. Originally set to come out this April, the game is now set to release in September. Hopefully, by then the devs have polished the game to perfection.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on Sept. 17 and will be available for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Cyberpunk 2077 May Not Come to the Nintendo Switch

Insomniac had been praised for their work on the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man, but it looks like the studio could be ready to come back to one of the more recognized brands in modern games—Ratchet & Clank. After earning top ranks on the PS4's list of platformers, it seems a new game is on the way, and it’s possible it could be launching with the PS5.

Talking to Sacred Symbols (via ComicBook), former industry journalist Colin Moriarty had noted,

“We’re going to get a Ratchet & Clank in-between that [Spider-Man 2018 and its sequel) on PlayStation 5… I feel like that’s going to be a launch game, the Ratchet & Clank game that’s long been in development at Insomniac.”

It’s worth noting that Moriarty had actually teased the development of the game sometime last year, with the hint that it could be coming out for the PS4. For now, it looks like plans have changed, but it’s possible that this new Ratchet & Clank could release for both the PS4 and PS5. For now, all we can really do is wait and see.

Ratchet & Clank is probably one of the more beloved brands in modern gaming, and its neat world is brought to life by the game’s emphasis on alternate weapons.

Personally, I’m more of a Jak & Daxter fan, but I’m excited to see just how Insomniac plans to up the ante with this next game. It’s kind of curious how they’re going to go back to a more cartoony brand after their attempt at realism with Spider-Man.

We don’t have any official confirmation for the next Ratchet & Clank title, but the PS5 is set to come out this December.

PS5 Could Launch with New Ratchet & Clank Game

The year 2019 was a great year for gaming, both good and bad… but let’s talk about the ones that didn’t exceed our expectations. These are the games that are plagued by performance issues and greedy microtransactions and failed to deliver their ambitious promises. Whatoplay presents 10 of the most disappointing titles of 2019.

10. Far Cry: New Dawn on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One

Ubisoft’s track record when it comes to their Far Cry games are hit or miss. Far Cry 5 was a breath of fresh air for the series, but none could ever top Far Cry 3’s impressive story. And as far as spin-offs go, Ubisoft really sold us with its ridiculous and epic futuristic first person shooter with Far Cry: Blood Dragon.

In New Dawn, however, it presented a ton of questionable development choices, mainly for its quality. New Dawn, like Blood Dragon, is a spin-off. The only difference is that New Dawn takes place after 5’s nuclear ending.

In comparison to Blood Dragon which created a fresh retro-futuristic world, this latest spin-off doesn’t bring anything new to the table. It rehashes the same old gameplay features from Far Cry 5 without putting much effort into its mechanics.

While it does have some redeeming moments such as being able to blow things up, it still doesn’t do anything different. Ubisoft could’ve done a lot more here. It received a playscore of 7.94 on the PS4, 7.49 on the PC, and 7.37 on the X1.

9. Rage 2 on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One

Open world insanity was Rage’s selling point. Id Software and Avalanche Studios’ collaboration transformed this Mad Max-like shooter into a satisfying playground of chaos and destruction.

Rage 2’s gameplay loop was its best feature. It offers enough creative ways of causing enough destruction with your arsenal of powerful weaponry. The run and gun mechanics is also similar to DOOM’s fast-paced gameplay, but underneath all its mayhem, it suffers from its dull storytelling and not to mention its major performance issues on the PC.

It’s a great game but hampered by timing. Game Skinny’s John Schutt said that “Rage 2 feels like a game out of time. If it had come out in 2006, I think it would feel like a more complete game…”

There’s still an ample amount of fun things to do in this first-person shooter if you could endure its slow moments. It receives a playscore of 7.55 on the PS4, 6.54 on the PC, and 6.19 on the X1.

8. Wolfenstein: Youngblood on the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One

The Wolfenstein games have always been a celebration of action and adventure set in the backdrop of Hitler’s evil regime.

Developed by Machine Games, it’s the first of the Wolfenstein titles to feature a co-op campaign with a drop-in/drop-out system. You could grab a friend and kill Nazis together as either of the Twin Blazkowicz daughters.

Youngblood excels in its first-person shooter mechanics but stumbled in its underwhelming story that doesn’t feel like a Wolfenstein game at all. Most of its concerns come from its overindulgence of co-op and its terrible inclusion of Microtransactions.

It fails to deliver the same quality that made Wolfenstein titles great and it receives a playscore of 7.06, 5.87 and 6.21 for the PS4, PC, and X1 respectively.

7. Shenmue 3

It took 18 years to finally get a follow-up to the popular Dreamcast classic. Now built using the Unreal Engine 4, this Kickstarter-funded project was an absolute disappointment despite its genuine homage to the original. Shenmue 3 is an anomaly in the realm of games.

Diehard fans of the series who enjoyed the journey of Ryo and Shenhua from almost two decades ago will find something good here, but as a modern game coming out in 2019, it still feels like a Dreamcast title. TechRaptor’s Dustin Triplett even made a remark on his review, he said, “Shenmue 3 doesn’t tarnish the memory of the series, but it doesn’t exactly move it forward either.”

But for a game made for fans, there’s no denying that this is a step in the right direction for the future of the series. There are flaws, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement should there be another project in the works. Its PlayStation 4 version receives a playscore of 7.19

6. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Ubisoft’s latest blunder was dead on arrival when it came out last year. Breakpoint was supposed to be their revolutionary online third-person shooter that could surpass their previous games, but its shady business practice with microtransactions was their biggest mistake and it cost them a full year of losses.

Ghost Recon has long lost its flair after their glory days in the previous console generations. GameSpot’s review said that “It's essentially every Ubisoft open-world game rolled into one, failing to excel in any one area or establish its own identity.”

Its confusing mix of tried and tested video game cliches doesn’t do well for the series, considering that their very own The Division is starting to make a name for itself in the third-person shooter scene. It has a playscore of 6.66 for the PS4 and 5.92 on the X1.

5. Crackdown 3 on PC and Xbox One

Remember this game? Well, it came out recently and no one seems to be talking about it anymore.

Reagent Games' Crackdown 3 was a follow-up to the series we no longer care about. Sure, the ever-present destructible physics remains enjoyable as hell, but the rest of its foundation falls apart for its obvious lack of innovation and outdated designs. PC Gamer did a review on the game and wrote, “Crackdown 3 comes along 12 years after Crackdown but without 12 years' worth of new ideas to share"

The only thing worth remembering in this latest entry is Terry Crews’ character but even his voice acting wasn’t enough to carry this underwhelming title. Might as well play Grand Theft Auto V or Just Cause instead. It has a playscore of 6.19 for the PC and 6.46 on the X1.

4. Jump Force on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One

It’s hard to take this fighting game seriously when you have an entire catalog of other great titles on the genre with better and bigger communities. Jump Force is a crossover of various Shonen characters such as Naruto, Luffy, Goku and a whole lot of anime characters in a story-driven scenario. It features an extensive roster of 52 playable characters, including the DLCs.

Fanfictions aside, it gives us enough ideas for some fantasy battles we never knew were possible. Other than that, Spike's Jump Force has nothing new to showcase in the demanding fighting game genre.

Most of its concerns come from its unfinished story, terrible combo mechanics, and its unjustified Triple-A price tag. It has a playscore of 6.85 on the PS4, 6.28 on the PC, and 5.92 on the X1.

3. Anthem on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One

Did you know this game came out in 2019? It’s sad to see a great studio fall from EA’s greedy corporate hands.

Anthem was ambitious. It presents a massive open world to explore teeming with extraterrestrial threats. Its first E3 presentation blew our minds. Donning the exosuit and hanging out with your buddies while you decimate a horde of aliens is the main idea, but its final product left players with an empty experience full of grinding, repetitive gameplay, and a shallow story not on par with Bioware’s standards. At least the flying looks smooth.

It was so lackluster it received mixed and average reviews from various gaming sources. Reviewer Kallie Plagge from GameSpot said that "Anthem has good ideas but it struggles significantly with the execution.”

The player base has drastically dropped since its release and only a handful of players are having fun in this futuristic playground. Let’s hope they redeem themselves in the coming months with better expansions and events. A playscore of 6.47 on the PS4, 6.14 on the PC, and 6.19 on the X1.

2. Left Alive on PlayStation 4 and PC

It’s rare to see a bad a Square Enix game. When it was announced, it was a mix of stealth and mecha genre. It even features art from the legendary Yoji Shinkawa that brought the Metal Gear Series to come to life. Fans looked forward to this supposed return to the Front Mission universe headed by veterans of Armored Core and Metal Gear.

But its promise falls short the moment you play the game. All we got was a mecha action game that had nothing to show for except its clunky combat and unreliable AI. It looks passable visually, but it plays like a 2008 PlayStation 3 game.

There were other great games that came out last year but this survival-shooter was literally being ‘left alive’ in the dumps. There were hopes of changes, but they're all but dashed at this point. It has a playscore of 5.09 on the PS4 and 3.61 on the PC.

1. WWE 2K20 on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One

Disappointing is such an understatement. What WWE 2K20 did was an insult to the fans of the long-running wrestling series. Just slap in popular wrestling icons as its cover and add a new Showcase mode, you’ll have another 2K game in a span of 1 year.

What made this game truly abysmal was its decrease in quality over previous titles and that’s saying a lot. I mean, what happened here? Every character model feels like they came out of the PlayStation 2 attic.

2K20 was the buggiest and the messiest game of the franchise. It had a number of baffling design choices that delaying would’ve been a better option, but of course, they chose not to. It has a playscore of 5.07 on the PS4, 4.36 on the PC, and 4.85 on the X1.

We've had our fair share of disappointing games so far, so to end on a positive note, drop by our list of all the best video games.

We ranked the most disappointing games from last year. These are titles that seemed to have the most potential but ultimately failed in the execution.

10 Most Disappointing Games of 2019

For a while Star Wars Battlefront II only focused on giving us Clone Wars era updates, and we only got some new Resistance goods with the Rise of Skywalker expansion last December. What’s interesting is the game is finally coming back to the “Age of Rebellion” this February.

As per the latest community transmission, the Original Trilogy era will be added to Co-Op along with the renamed game mode, Supremacy (formerly Capital Supremacy). This new game mode will also be bringing a map from 2015’s Battlefront DLC, Scarif (from Rogue One)—probably one of the most requested maps ever since the game launched.

One big difference between these Age of Rebellion maps is that the fight will focus primarily on the ground—meaning that there won’t be any more flying to big ships to destroy from the inside. My guess is the game mode can end once all command posts are taken, but maybe players can just be transported to another part of the map where another goal has to be achieved.

We don’t have any specific release date for this DLC yet, but we’re going to get some updates to come February. While a lot of fans love the Clone Wars, the OT timeline is personally my favorite. Hopefully, we get some new skins soon because I’d love to see some X-Wing pilots on the ground.

Though there was a slight delay, the next expansion for Star Wars Battlefront II comes out Feb. 3. The game is now playable for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Star Wars Battlefront II is finally coming back to the “Age of Rebellion” this February.

Scarif is Coming to Star Wars Battlefront II!

News had come out last December that Cloud Chamber was working on a fourth BioShock game, but so far we don’t have any idea when it’s going to be released. What’s great is, the full collection is going to be available for free for PS Plus members this February.

As per the official PlayStation Blog, BioShock: The Collection is going to be one of three free games next month. Another game coming will be The Sims 4, and the third being Firewall Zero Hour for PlayStation VR.

The Collection version of BioShock will include BioShock 1 through Infinite, all having been remastered in 1080p. The package will also include all the DLC with the game including Burial at Sea and Clash in the Clouds.

With the game coming for free on PS Plus, I can’t help but think this is gearing up for some kind of announcement for the fourth BioShock game. The first Last of Us game came out for free last year, and it was to help promote the release of the sequel. Maybe this is a way for Cloud Chamber to help build up the hype for the franchise before a big reveal.

At least that’s my guess.

BioShock: The Collection—along with The Sims 4 and Firewall Zero Hour—will be available for free on PS Plus from Feb. 4 to March 2.

News had come out last December that Cloud Chamber was working on a fourth BioShock game, but so far we don’t have any idea when it’s going to be released.

1. Zombie Army 4: Dead War on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Zombie games aren’t over just yet. In fact, they’re becoming weirder by the day. Travel back to Europe in 1946 and face the undead hordes of zombie Hitler’s zombie army. Yes, you heard that right.

Team up with your friends in this insane campaign packed with epic weapons, skills, and a handful of upgrades. It’s the kind of game where it is absolutely fun with friends. Nothing beats the satisfaction of taking down an army of living corpses using the power of friendship… and a massive tank. It’s coming this February 4 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

2. Ori And The Will Of The Wisps on PC and Xbox One

Moon Studios’ beloved Metroidvania is back for another emotional adventure ready to tug our heartstrings. In Will of the Wisps, Ori’s journey takes him out from its original magical forest and into uncharted territories in the world beyond.

From what we've seen from all their E3 presentations, it still feels like the same majestic, and challenging platformer. Now, with more nimble movements and a host of new enemies, all of which we’ll see on March 11 as a Microsoft exclusive.

3. NiOh 2

2020 is turning out to be a year of Samurai games with Ghost of Tsushima and Team Ninja’s ‘Nioh’. Like Half-Life Alyx, Nioh 2 is going to be a prequel with a standalone story. Play a customized character that’s part human, part yokai and venture around the new Dark Realms with great Japanese warlords like Hideyoshi.

It’s still essentially a single-player experience. However, the improved multiplayer which allows up to three players will definitely make the Yokai battles that much easier. A PlayStation 4 Exclusive, it’s set to release this May 13, 2020.

4. Doom Eternal on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia, and Switch

The year 2151 has not been very kind to Planet Earth. Pandemonium is just a regular Tuesday for the legendary Doomguy.

Eternal is a follow-up to id Software’s fresh reboot of the action-packed franchise. Just like their previous entries, the titular badass returns to the fray but now he’s armed to the teeth with an arsenal of powerful weapons. Moving from point A to point B now feels more fleshed out with a handful of movement upgrades. It’s basically just a walk in the park for Doomguy and every Demon’s worst nightmare.

Coming this 20th of March for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, Goggle Stadia, and the Nintendo Switch.

5. Half-Life: Alyx

I guess it’s time to let go of Valve’s elusive Half-Life 3. Although it acts as a prequel, it still, this brand new Half-Life experience could pass as a pseudo-sequel. Meet new and familiar faces in this Virtual Reality sci-fi spectacle.

Unlike their old titles, this is Valve’s most ambitious work to date, considering they’re no longer making enough games lately. As a VR entry, things might not go the way it should, but given Valve’s track record, this whole new story might be something huge for gamers. Coming sometime this March 2020 as a PC Exclusive.

6. Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

The age old question finally gets an answer. Bannerlord when? TaleWorlds Entertainment finally brought something more concrete for all of us to hold on to.

Step inside a beautiful Calradia and battle it out using its smooth physics and improved UI. wWith four planned multiplayer modes--including a siege mode; a duel mode; and, a Captains mode that lets you man AI armies as well as your own character--there's enough to distract you from the real world.

We know about their campaigns, factions, siege defenses, and putting our hands on it may either be wonder, or disappointment. Coming out sometime this March 2020.

7. Wasteland 3 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

The icy hell of post-apocalyptic Colorado isn’t as friendly as it was before in this much-awaited installment by InXile Entertainment to the Wasteland series. Coming a long way since 1998, this fan-funded project wasn’t an easy task. The party-based RPG is stepping up their game with asynchronous multiplayer, solid single-player experience and strategic turn-based gameplay.

That means whether you want a friend, or not, you still get to taste the horrors and atmosphere of this frozen wasteland. The game is slated for a March 2020 release.

8. The Last Of Us II

The adventures of Ellie and Joel continue in this major follow-up to Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic masterpiece. This time around, a mature and hardened Ellie takes center stage.

Survival remains essential in this sequel as Ellie has a wide variety of tools and weapons to fend off the ghastly Clickers and some unwelcome human presence. Compared to the first game’s controls, Ellie has more verticality and can finally jump. As for Joel’s character, not much was shown as of the moment, except for his now grizzled face.

Coming this 29th of May as a PlayStation 4 Exclusive.

9. Halo Infinite on PC, Xbox One, and Series X

Microsoft’s biggest title coming out this year remains quite a mystery as of yet. However, with the upcoming Xbox Series X, there’s a possibility that Master Chief’s latest journey might be a launch title.

In terms of story and gameplay, there's none of that so far. The only thing we know for sure is the return of Master Chief. It's currently slated for a Holiday 2020 release window.

10. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II on the PC and Series X

Ninja Theory’s nordic action-adventure game gets a sequel too. Hellblade. Taking place right after the events of the first game, we now see a vengeful Senua ready to raze hell.

There’s not a lot of info available yet, so we have no idea what the story and gameplay is all about. All we know is that Senua is out for blood. Coming this Holiday 2020 for the PC and Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Series X.

11. Dying Light 2 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Techland may have forgotten their Dead Island games, but they sure know how to keep Dying Light shine. This sequel promises to improve their signature parkour mechanics, which makes for a better traversal experience in its desolate city.

Storywise, player choices will impact the course of the game and aside from a range of gameplay upgrades, you’ll be playing as an infected anti-hero armed with supernatural abilities. It comes out this 2020 on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

12. Watch Dogs: Legion on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Stadia, and Series X

Hack the planet in this latest Watch Dogs title from Ubisoft. Legion puts the open-world experience to its maximum, taking you into a semi-dystopian London in the midst of a digital warfare.

In Legion, there is no main character because EVERYONE is. Anyone who chooses to take part in the rising revolution is welcome and it’s up to you to recruit them. It's full of technological innovations and it promises variety in terms of its gameplay and hacking.

It’s coming sometime this 2020 for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Stadia, and the Series X.

13. Yakuza: Like A Dragon

The long-rumored Yakuza title has a name and it’s Demo is currently out in the wilds for you to test out. The eighth mainline entry of the famed Yakuza series, this title is set in the near future and it’s considered as a soft reboot of the series.

It features new characters and a new protagonist far from the likes of Kazuma Kiryu. The gameplay is also shifting to the classic turn-based combat aside from the real-time brawler which is a huge surprise. So far, there are not many details as of the moment. Coming sometime this 2020 as a PlayStation exclusive.

14. Desperados III on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Enter epic Wild West journey through 1870 USA and Mexico in THQ Nordic’s and Mimimi Productions' upcoming RTS game. Featuring a modern real-time tactics gameplay, control a ragtag band of unlikely heroes and heroines as they join forces to challenge a superior foe. Outsmart your enemies and use a wide array of abilities such as infiltration, spying, sabotage, stealing, abduction, and more.

With five unique desperados, use their deadly skills to thin out the enemies. It’s coming out this 2020 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and X1.

15. Little Nightmares II on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch

The horrifying puzzle-platformer from Tarsier Studios’ return. However, there is little information we know about the game so far aside from its reveal trailer. One thing’s for sure, we know that Six, the iconic girl with the yellow raincoat, makes a return but she no longer remains playable.

The game’s main character centers around Mono, which was a protagonist from the previous title. This sequel will further explore the harrowing atmosphere of The Maw and what lies beyond this demented dimension. Coming this 2020 for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Switch.

16. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Continue your vampiric adventures in the 21st century and settle into the underworld gloom of nighttime Seattle. Developed by Hardsuit Labs, This is a follow up to the 2004 cult classic which dates back from the tabletop games of White Wolf publishing
,

Whoever you are, where you're from, and whatever you choose remains a massive part of Vampire's gameplay. Coming out this March 2020 for the PC, PlayStation 4 and X1.

17. Sons Of The Forest

This unexpected sequel from the terrifying survival game, The Forest, will continue with its demon-hunting mission. Revealed during last year’s Game Awards, it’s too early to tell what the game is all about. However, others speculate it will put more emphasis on its story and narrative.

No release date as of the moment, but judging from the trailer, it’s still scary as hell. Coming to the PC sometime this 2020.

18. The Settlers

It’s been a decade since their last major entry, this modern follow-up is in the hands of their original studio Blue Byte. Which is good news.

With the goal of creating a familiar Settlers title while being up to par with today's standards, it's gonna be a nostalgic treat for long time fans. No details yet, sadly
.

Build, explore, and conquer anew once it releases sometime this year.

19. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Quarantine on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Series X

It’s no surprise the Rainbow Six series operates under the same universe. Moving on from their usual door breaching and cover operations, this Rainbow Six title enters horror territory.

Serving as a spin-off to the popular Rainbow Six: Siege, this three-player co-op FPS adds a new element of gameplay to the series. Instead of facing against human enemies, you and your buddies team up to quell a mysterious alien threat. As of now, it still remains a mystery and everything else about the game.

Coming this 2020.

20. Hollow Knight: Silksong on PC and Switch

The sequel to the award-winning action-adventure metroidvania game from Team Cherry. Enter a whole new kingdom ruled by Silk and Song.

For the first time in the series, play as the little Knight’s female companion, Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest and a major character from the original game. Battle new and familiar foes and utilize her unique lethal acrobatic abilities. It remains consistent in its Souls-like gameplay and will punish players who react slowly.

No release date yet, but it’s expected to be released sometime this 2020 for the PC and the Nintendo Switch.

For when one isn't enough! Here are our rankings of the best videogame sequels coming to the PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Stadia, Series X, and Switch this 2020.

20 Upcoming Game Sequels of 2020

EA has somewhat won back the Star Wars fanbase with the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Now, everyone is eager to see what else could be coming to the franchise in the future. What’s interesting is, a rumor has come out that the studio is currently working on a revamp of an old fan favorite.

As per Cinelinx, two sources have come out to say that a Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) game is in the works. One source was said to have reported that a full remake of the game is being developed, while the other says that it’s supposed to be a sequel to the original games.

Though Disney had decided to wipe the slate clean with the Star Wars canon, the newer shows have managed to slowly bleed in material from The Old Republic games. Granted that era of Star Wars has a following in the fanbase, it would make sense for EA to try and bank on that popularity and try to bring in some new fans.

With the Disney-era canon introducing some new elements, I think it would be best to just revamp The Old Republic and give us a story that aligns a lot closer to the new canon. Personally, I always thought the story of the Old Republic has been kind of convoluted, so I would be open to something more compact and fresh.

Keep in mind though that these updates on KOTOR are merely rumors. Until EA or Lucasfilm makes an official announcement, all we can really do is wait.

10. NBA 2K Mobile Basketball

With releases scheduled almost every year and not enough changes to make, sports games usually make up for minimal improvements by inching closer and closer to realism. 2K's venture into mobile basketball was a productive one, bringing the awe of their high-grade visuals to our smartphones.

But, they didn't stop there. To add to the 2K's signature graphics, there are also over 400 different NBA player cards to collect, including today's current rosters, as well as the certified classics. If you're looking for a more personalized experience, you also get to create and customize your very own player and use their skills in the court.

Released back in 2018, today's stock of smartphones might have no problem running this lush sports game. Still, two years on, NBA 2K Mobile Basketball still feels like one of the best basketball games on the platform and it gets a playscore of 7.87

9. Perfect World Mobile

We've probably all heard of Perfect World, one of the most popular MMOs of its time with a legacy that lasted 12 years. Recently, it made its comeback with a sparkly new edition made especially for the mobile. Perfect World Mobile offers a seamless world-spanning etherblade to the city of the moon. As an MMO with fantasy settings, it doesn't hold back on visual beauty, putting detail into their characters, classes, and monsters.

It's not just the nostalgia factor that reels people in. It actually feels fresh, even among today's crop of MMORPGs. Gather round your friends, set everything on high, and become captivated by the beauty and fun that their world can offer.

Showing itself worthy of a long-standing legacy, Perfect World Mobile remains a top-notch title with a playscore of 7.91

8. Hero Hunters

If anyone's on the lookout for console-like titles on the mobile, then this might be worth a shot. Hothead Games shows off their flair with the jaw-dropping graphics of their RPG Shooter hybrid.

Anchoring on cover-based shooting action, their campaign follows a heated war against the army of Kurtz. Set in beautifully dilapidated cities and populated by a gorgeously rendered cast of characters--Hero Hunters has all it takes to be an RPG classic.

While the graphics are impressive, Hero Hunters is a bundle of adrenaline-pumping joy, too. The game doesn't allow you to waste time looking at the landscape. Their real-time PvP battles and co-op boss raids--all jampacked with fun shooting and explosions--will keep you coming back for more, even after the graphics have grown old.

Hero Hunters will be a mainstay on the mobile hemisphere for a while longer, getting a playscore of 8.21

7. FINALFANTASY XV POCKET EDITION

Ok so we know about Square Enix's Final Fantasy XV, which took almost a decade to create in its entirety and is one of the beautiful open-world environments of its time. But, since the smartphones just aren't quite ready for that yet, we get at least a fraction of that experience with the gang in chibified form.

Pocket Edition is a freemium experience which means you get a taste of the Final Fantasy magic with one free chapter. Hopefully, it gets you ready to take on the perils of Noctis' quest. It might be a distilled RPG experience compared to the massive console original, and its graphics may be a bit of a downgrade. But, we'd be lying if we said it doesn't look good.

It's a stylized rendition of a great game, earning itself a playscore of 8.28

6. PUBG Mobile

We may have had a laugh about the bugs and glitches of this breakthrough Battle Royale game on the PC, but it did seem to find its home when it released on the mobile. With PUBG Mobile, you get to experience the full thrills of the 1vs100 battlefield wherever you go. But aside from getting the solo chicken dinner, PUBG also has squad play to let you share the experience with your friends.

For a mobile game, it's a pretty smooth experience as it adjusts to your phone's capabilities to bring optimal performance every time. So though it might not run your phone down with its graphics, it is quite an experience to have a full PC game on a portable format.

PUBG Mobile gets a playscore of 8.34

5. Asphalt 9: Legends - 2018’s New Arcade Racing Game

Now we're moving into the big boys of the graphics department. Much like sports games, if there's one other genre that does graphics well, it's racing. On the mobile, Gameloft is one of the best. Now on its 9th installment, Asphalt feels like their longest-running series and in this entry, they're taking it to the next level.

Legends features a roster of the top quality hypercars for you to drive such as Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo, and W motors. Feel free to pick the dream car you want to have and race across spectacular locations. Sure, you might still get annoyed by its flurry of microtransactions, but that’s part of the Gameloft package.

But no matter how you cut it, Asphalt 9 is one great looking game and it's an adrenaline-packed experience too. It has a playscore of 8.44

4. GRID Autosport

The old racing saints have come marching in. Five years after their release on the PC, Codemaster's 2014 racing game swooped in at the the tail end of last year to show the mobile just what they're missing. It may have had its faults but Grid Autosport was once described as the generation's best racers. With this Android transition by Feral Interactive, it's definitely still got it.

Grid Autosport offers console-quality racing on the go, with smooth, customizable controls, and content spanning hundreds of cars and circuits, game modes, plus all of the game's DLCs in one convenient package. It might come at a heavy price of 4 gigabytes but that's crumbs compared to all its awesome Triple-A content.

A breath of new life for a bygone generation title, it has a playscore of 8.5

3. Rush Rally 3

The third installment to Brownmonster's racing series, Rush Rally 3 markets itself as one of the realistic rally simulations out there. And that doesn't just mean the graphics department. Rally racing is one of the most demanding sports in the racing genre, and capturing the intensity of the track is what Rush Rally is here for.

It's not quite a console-quality game that GRID Autosport is, but what makes Rush Rally 3 a great addition to the Android roster is its perfectly balanced mechanics. With this installment of the Rush Rally series, they tinker with optimized controls to deliver that balance of stress and excitement that Rally Racing offers. For less than five bucks, you get 72 stages, and 72 cars, plus a few more game modes to try out.

Sure, it’s not the best when it comes to visuals. But it’s close to the most stylish Rally Racer and it gets a playscore of 8.54.

2. Call of Duty: Mobile

Tencent Games made quite a splash in the world of mobile gaming when they announced a new venture for their acclaimed first-person shooter series. By now, Call of Duty is a name that speaks for itself and seeing it for the first time on the portable platform is nothing short of a treat.

Call of Duty: Mobile isn't exactly the same as its console counterparts. The graphics especially, with its slightly cartoony style, aren't close to what you'd expect on the PS4 and Xbox One. But, what it does though is bringing their brand of heavy-duty shooting on the go. On top of that, it even added a 100-player battle royale mode to cover all the action you might want.

While it did run into some bumps early in its release, it ultimately won the battle with more 35 million downloads in its first week alone.

It has a playscore of 8.6

1. Grimvalor

Grimvalor isn't what you'd expect to win in the battle for high graphics games on the Android. As a game set in dark, underground caverns, it doesn't show off realism. It's beautiful nonetheless.

Within its limited, mobile format, it offers visually stunning environments and a bestiary of cool monsters to take down with its exhilarating combat. Direlight's Grimvalor is considered by many as the mobile counterpart to FromSoftware's Dark Souls series.

There's dark settings, grisly creatures, and most especially, there's brutal combat that will challenge even the best adventurers. Winning spots in Top 10 lists for both iOS and Android, Grimvalor has definitely earned its reputation as a gold standard in a portable hack and slash action.

It has a playscore of 8.86
