For months, we have been teased about a mysterious Project Maverick from EA Motive, and after a delayed announcement last week, we finally have a look at Star Wars: Squadrons.

Check it out:

The game also comes with this official description:

Buckle up, take full control of starfighters such as the X-wing and TIE fighter, and feel the adrenaline of strategic first-person 5v5 multiplayer dogfights alongside your squadrons.

In a fateful campaign set near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling STAR WARS™ single-player story. The New Republic fights for freedom. The Empire demands order. We need you to join the galaxy’s finest.

This preview doesn’t really come with any gameplay footage. With Motive having a hand at developing Star Wars Battlefront II, it’s likely the Starfighter gameplay is going to be the something similar. But Motive may introduce some new mechanics for this game.

Oddly enough, Squadrons comes with a price tag of $40 USD, making it one of the cheaper games to come out. This is leading some to speculate that the game is contained and will have a short single-player campaign not unlike Battlefront II.

Star Wars: Squadrons is set to come out on Oct. 2 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

EA Motive Drops Trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons

One of the games announced in the PlayStation 5 reveal was Neostream's Little Devil Inside which caught somewhat of a controversy when it was pointed out that one of the enemies in the game was a racist stereotype.

On Twitter, this was pointed out by a user with the handle @LordBalvin posting:

Apparently the design was deemed offensive because of the dreadlocks, thick lips, and blow darts that somehow resemble marijuana joints.

If anything, Neostream had responded on Facebook and are saying that they are open to redesigning the characters. They wrote:

Racist stereotypes of any kind were absolutely not intended, we were not aware of the stereotypical connotations and wish to apologize to anyone who may have been offended by the character design.

As for the fix, they have mentioned four changes to the character which include removing the dreadlocks, changing the lips, changing the skin tone, and redesigning the blow dart as to make it look less like a joint. If that isn’t enough though, the devs are open to doing a complete overhaul of the character.

Little Devil Inside Developers Under Fire for Apparently Racist Game Elements

The PlayStation 5 announcement for Sony was filled with a lot of highly anticipated titles and Annapurna Interactive managed to nab a slot to promote their upcoming game, Stray.

Here’s the teaser:

Here’s the official description of the game as well:

Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.

We don’t have an official story or look at the main parts of gameplay, but since this is just a teaser, it would make sense that the devs are just letting us have a nice look at the world first.

The game looks to let players emulate whatever a cat can do in this future world, and you’re even encouraged to ‘annoy’ people with whatever you have in your arsenal.

It’s also mentioned that you will eventually get access to a flying companion B12, who is there to help you traverse your journey and ‘find a way out.’

No release date has been set for Stray, but the game is set to come to PS5 sometime in 2021. For more games, you can check out our complete and updated list of PS5 Games

Stray Lets You Play As A Lonely Cat from the Future on the PS5

Though Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding (DS) may have come out as a PS4 exclusive, Kojima Productions is set to release the game to PC next month. With DS expected to be a massive game, we now have details on the specs required to play the game on PC.

According to PC Gamer, these are the minimum required specs to play the game:

OS: Windows 10

CPU: Intel® Core i5-3470 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200

RAM: 8 GB

GPU: GeForce GTX 1050 3 GB or AMD Radeon RX 560 4 GB DirectX 12

HDD: 80GB

Sound cards: DirectX compatible

There are actually 2 kinds of recommended specs for Death Stranding though, one for 30fps and the other for 60fps (both of these are at 1080p resolution):

Recommended 30fps:

OS: Windows 10

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400

RAM: 8 GB

GPU: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB or Radeon RX 570 4 GB DirectX 12

HDD: 80GB

Sound cards: DirectX compatible

Recommended 60fps

OS: Windows 10

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600

RAM: 8 GB

GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 590
· DirectX 12

HDD: 80GB

Sound cards: DirectX compatible

It’s going to be interesting to see just how the game is ported over to PC, counting that there are some gameplay elements that feel exclusive to the console. I mean, if you have to use your controller to balance the packages that you’re handling, how does that translate to a keyboard and mouse set-up?

Admittedly Death Stranding is not a game for everyone, but you can’t deny that creative force that is Hideo Kojima. Hopefully the next title from KojiPro will be received with unanimous approval.

Fans have waited seven years for the release of The Last of Us Part II, and the game is finally going to come out next week. While this looks to be the end of the story with Ellie, creative director Neil Druckmann reveals that there could be a third game down the line.

Talking to GQ, Druckmann talks about his plans after the release of Part II, and he reveals:

“As you start wrapping things up, creatively there are fewer and fewer responsibilities and my mind can’t help but think about the next thing… So, yeah, the next thing could be a Part III, the next thing could be some new IP.”

No one has any idea what’s coming by the end of The Last of Us Part II, but it may be safe to assume that Ellie doesn’t die.

With The Last of Us universe spending decades in an apocalyptic state thanks to the Cordyceps, the third game may revolve around trying to deliver a cure to the infected.

Until we can get our hands on Part II, fans can only guess what happens. Druckmann himself has stated that the ending was not part of the leaked plots.

Creative director Neil Druckmann reveals that there could be a third game down the line

The Last of Us Director: "The next thing could be a Part III"?

While several games have you fighting against zombies or demons, very few of them actually have you tackling with your own sanity. That’s what StickyLock Studios and Alterego Games are planning to deliver with their next title, Sanity of Morris.

Here’s the official description:

Sanity of Morris is a psychological horror adventure game in which you fear darkness but can’t risk exposure to the light or you’ll be caught. The game tells the story of a young man trying to stay sane in the search for his father, consumed by conspiracy theories about the government and alien signals.

The game pretty much looks like BioShock but with most of the scares and none of the action. You have to focus on investigating your way around the environment in an attempt to discover the truth about your father. You even get to collect audio tapes and secret files—just like in BioShock.

One major element of the gameplay is also that you have to balance seeking out information and avoiding stress. If your character gets too stressed, you might go insane—much like your father and his alien conspiracies.

Creative director Dominic de Graaf had this to say about the game:

“We wanted to create something new and exciting, but also keep doing what we’re good at; storytelling. So for Sanity of Morris we took from Woven the adventure genre, having collectibles and working with a strong narrative. But then we added a whole layer of psychological horror in the music, in the visuals, and it’s really unnerving!

In this game, you will start to question John’s reality. It makes for an engaging experience, like an interactive movie, perfect for escaping daily life. And we can all use that right about now.”

No specific release date has been announced for Sanity of Morris, but the game is expected to come out on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on the fourth quarter of 2020.

For more upcoming games, you can check out our respective lists for Upcoming Xbox One, Upcoming PC, and Upcoming PS4.

15. Amazing Spider Rope Hero Spider Frog Ninja Strange

After the success that was their Joker Stickman Vegas games, HGTank comes back with a new game--this time, in the shoes of a man in a superhero suit. It's the same kind of city simulation that they're known for, except with better graphics and, apparently, smoother controls.

While it has more than a million downloads and four stars to its name, it may be an acquired taste though. And although it’s an improvement over the studio's last game, it's still pretty underwhelming by normal game standards--especially considering its dated controls and tireless ads.

An oddity that may be up your alley, it received a gamerscore of 9.15

14. Hero Rescue - Unique Puzzle

Something a little bit more normal. A puzzle game from Upland, Hero Rescue lets you help a knight fulfill his chivalric duties, going through castle to castle to find gems and rescue the princess. The thinking is up to you though. In more than 300 levels, the game challenges you to take out keys in the best order to keep the knight safe to do the tasks at hand.

It's a very simple game, but with hundreds of levels, it can give you that satisfaction of a puzzle completed for hours on end. Receiving only ratings from gamers, it receives a score of 9.18

13. Rumble Hockey on Android and iOS

From the makers of Rumble Stars Football, Frogmind Games leaps at the opportunity of bringing us another anthropomorphic take on a popular sport. Not all that far from their football counterpart, it's the same mechanics of working the puck around the field with your talented animal team to score goals against your opponent.

Train your team, join clubs, and show off your skills in many versus matches. Using the same friendly animals and visuals, it's got the same charm as Rumble Stars Football.

If you're a big of a fan of hockey, this is a mobile must-have and it receives a gamerscore of 9.18 on the iOS, and 8.60 on the Android

12. 1v1.LOL - Online Building & Shooting Simulator on Android and iOS

Once a popular browser shooter, the 1v1s have finally made it to the android mobile platforms. Think of it as a more lightweight Fortnite alternative where you have to balance both building and shooting to win the game.

Just like its browser counterpart, it's got a surprising amount of features. Go to justbuild mode to sharpen your reflexes and skills on your own, or go online and fight against players around the globe. Go on classic 1v1s, head to the deathmatches in the battle royale mode, or team up in 2v2s and 4v4s.

Offering function over form, gamers definitely loved it, earning it a score of 9.19

11. Jade Sword on Android and iOS

There are plenty of MMORPGs out there and this month, our main distraction is Jade Sword, a graphically beautiful MMO set in a fairyland that's filled to brim with gorgeous oriental aesthetics. While it has an abundance of bosses to bring down and loot to collect, what makes this game different is its quest to find love.

Unlike most MMOs, love is also a central part of the gameplay, offering lots of features for players who found the love of their online lives. Set-up the wedding ceremonies, have babies, and basically ride into the eastern sunset with your new boo.

It has a gamerscore of 9.19

10. DOP: Draw One Part

Don't let this game's simplistic graphics deceive you. At the heart of it lies a deeply entertaining puzzler that you can either breeze through or leave you scratching your head. As its title suggests, all you have to do is draw one part, completing the 2D pictures, and making it through the level. While the first few levels are easy enough, there will be a few that will test how well you know about the ordinary objects around us.

As always with free games, there may be a few ads to sit through, but they're sparse enough to still enjoy the game's over 200 levels. It receives a gamerscore of 9.19

9. Dynasty Heroes: Legend of SamKok

For more games with that definitive Asian flavor, Dynasty Heroes is a tactical RPG which explores the themes of the classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Rewrite the sands of time with their range of heroes and characters from the historical text. Create your team of warriors, equip yourself with the most appropriate weapons, and use your tactical wits to hit enemies with the best possible combos.

It's a highly satisfying adventure. Knock down the walls of each kingdom in this game with a gamerscore of 9.19

8. Katana Master on Android and iOS

Wield the power of the katana in this new casual action game. There isn't really much actual fighting. As you face opponents in increasingly difficult levels, you only have the power of timing at your disposal. Time your taps for the optimum level of attack, and watch it unfold in powerful multi-hit attacks.

You'll also have some powerups at the side too, which you can avail for a few seconds of ads. These come in very handy as you go through the bosses which, from the beginning, will be difficult to beat without them.

It gets a gamerscore of 9.26

7. Stick Super: Hero

Now for some actual fighting. It might not actually be that big of an upgrade in terms of graphics from the last game, but this time you'll actually be involved in some action. Playing as stick figures dressed in superhero costumes, fight your way through their varying game modes.

Whether its the story mode which pits you against increasingly harder heroes, or versus mode to test your skills against real-life reflexes--it's gonna be all fun, landing punches, timing blocks, and releasing your Kraken of an ult.

Packed with comic book aesthetics and lots of microtransactions, it has a gamerscore of 9.37

6. Lucky Plane - Merge & Idle Winner

Some people just have way too much time on their hands. If you're one of those people, then this game from Heron Studios just might be for you. There really isn't much to it, other than being an idle game layered with a simple pairing mechanic.

The goal isn't really to expand your hangar, it's to just keep upgrading. Select pairs, get that swanky new plane type and spend the next minutes recreating it to get the next one. Patience and boredom is the main factor here as progress slows to a halt, and you'll be forced to choose between staring at the screen for a few minutes or coughing up a few bucks for the next upgrade.

Still, somehow it earns itself a gamerscore of 9.37

5. My Cat - Attract Wealth

There's something fishy going here. Despite having pretty much the same basic mechanics and presentation, the past two games have not been from the same developer. In any case, of the two, it's this one that seems more forgivable, only by the mere fact that it's...all about cats--and boy are they cute.

Seeming like a play on the famous Japanese lucky cat icon, keep merging cats and be rewarded with a face of a brand new adorable cat. It receives a gamerscore of 9.38

4. Zombie Sweeper: Minesweeper Action Puzzle

Our next game has a bit more heft than our other games. Putting a bit more effort into flair, this game puts an undead twist to the minesweeper formula. Tap carefully on their grid of boxes to find the zombies, and deploy the special task forces to bring them down.

The simplicity of the original game is still there, but the fresh cartoon makeover does make it that much more enjoyable to play. Taking minesweeper from the grave and giving it a new look, it gets a gamerscore of 9.39

3. City of Desire

In the City of Desire, there is only one rule: RULE IT. Here, you'll be able to fulfill your wildest power-tripping dreams. Not only do you get to exercise power over most parts of the city as the Mayor of the City, but you'll also get to...date your secretary.

Morality is clearly not the core of this title, and perhaps you can take all the actions you make here as telltale signs of evil. Or you can be one of the good ones.

Despite the shifty conduct, it's actually a pretty full-featured title, with sandbox gameplay that will keep you entertained for long. It has a gamerscore of 9.62

2. Wordy word - wordscape free & get relax

Word games never go out of style. With Wordscapes still being a go-to for word lovers, it never has a shortage of clones. This is one of them. It uses basically the same mechanics: find all the words you can form from the given letters from their grid to complete the level. The only difference here is that this game has more than a few ads to serve up to for every completed level.

It's not the greatest experience, and you'll probably be better off with another game. But, by its basest mechanics and presentable visuals alone, it earned itself a gamerscore of 9.98

1. SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off

The only game that earned a full playscore last May, Spongebob has had a lot of cooking for us. While it might not be too different from most cooking games, the added Bikini Bottom splash makes it worthwhile for any fan of the series.

Dive down into the waters and prepare all sorts of wacky dishes for your chums under the sea. Already released on the Android, this will be a welcome treat for any iOS users who want to put themselves in the shoes of the always enthusiastic sea sponge.

It has a playscore of 9.41

More than 300 mobile games were released last May, we tracked them all to bring you a ranking of the best free-to-play titles you can play on your Android smartphone, iPhone, or iPad. These are highly-rated free mobile games to download right now.

Sandbox Interactive's Albion Online borrows notable features of known MMOs. PvE, PvPs, Guild Warfares, they have it. Despite a myriad of similarities, Albion tries to make itself different by injecting its in-depth player economy. Players can even go tending to their farm and homestead if they need a break or extra cash. It’s no easy feat, as the path of success in every MMORPG is of course, the grinding.

There’s a whole lot of potential in its character customization as well, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to fully experience the world Albion has to offer. And the best of all, it’s free.

It receives a playscore of 7.39

9. The Elder Scrolls Online

Say what you will about Bethesda, but their take on the MMORPG formula is handled pretty well in The Elder Scrolls Online. Embark on your own fantasy-epic adventure similar to your debaucheries in the previous TES titles.

This time you get to fully explore the massive world of The Elder Scrolls with your created character, unfortunately, blocked by a paywall. ESO isn’t a free game, but since its release way back 2014, the game is constantly updating with more expansions and story-content.

It’s a time-vacuum machine for hardcore MMORPG players, despite Bethesda’s aggressive microtransactions and pricey add-ons. Its latest expansion, Greymoor, lets you discover the bloody history of Tamriel with its new antiquities system and vampires.

ESO receives a playscore of 7.49

8. Boundless

If Minecraft is too casual for you, Wonderstruck’s sandbox MMORPG might give you a handful of challenges in its voxel-based universe.

Unlike Microsoft’s Minecraft, Boundless has player progression and a pretty in-depth RPG system if you want to take your journey to a whole new level. As a sandbox title, the world is limitless and the only limit to what you can create is your imagination. Provided you have the time and resources to do that, of course.

Boundless also enhances its playground experience with its seamless cross-play feature. Playing with friends or other players is the game’s best feature.

It has a playscore of 7.52

7. Eve Online

Speaking of boundless, this space MMORPG from CCP Games takes you to the infinite vacuum of space. What sets Eve Online apart from the other titles on this list is its galactic exploration. You’re not constrained to a peaceful Eden full of flora and fauna. In Eve, the galaxy is yours for the taking. If you’re up to it.

Still rocking an active player base, Eve’s community-driven content is what keeps it from dying. Each player has their own space voyage from countless options. PvE and PvP are but a small part of its grand science fiction playground. Building and maintaining your own ship is its core objective.

Powered by its loyal player base, the game’s thriving economy is something to consider in your journey as well. A playscore of 7.66

6. TERA

If anyone wants a taste of a good ol’ MMORPG, TERA is the quickest way to experience it without much of a hassle. It’s free and it still has enough players for you to interact and experience with.

As a 2011 game, it has been through a LOT. As gaming continues to evolve over the years, TERA has its fair share of improvements including graphics and gameplay upgrades. For old players, it's the game that they keep coming back for, despite its ups and downs. For amateurs, it’s a unique take on the genre with more player freedom. As a free to play title, it encourages everyone to grind for that powerful gear.

But like every game in the market, there’s always a downside. TERA is still active, but according to some, it’s now on life-support. A playscore of 7.67

5. Temtem

Tamagotchis paved the way for our love of digital monsters. Then Pokemon and Digimon came into fruition, giving us a never-ending supply of monster pets to take care of, evolve, and use them as our guardians.

Temtem goes on a similar note. You could say it’s a blatant copy of Pokemon’s best features, but no, it is more than that. Sure, there are similarities, but it’s taking inspiration from various titles of the same mechanic. The game’s biggest potential is its massive online mode where you can explore its six unique islands and meet players from around the globe.

Activities such as co-op makes your quest easier, as well as its endless replayability including building your own abode, and of course, monster battles.

It’s still in its Early Access, so there’s still a lot of things to work on. However, despite its early stages, the game is receiving positive reviews from various outlets and gamers itself. It has a playscore of 8.12

4. Star Wars: The Old Republic

2011 was a long time ago and the Star Wars franchise keeps expanding over the years. And throughout its story, light and dark are in a power struggle for domination. The Old Republic is one of the best titles BioWare developed and to this day, it still has enough players messing around on both sides of the Force.

In this primordial galactic battle, you will have to choose your side. Fight alongside the troops of the Old Republic, or with the malevolent armies of the Sith Empire.

Each faction has eight opposing classes with its own unique storyline that fits the game’s overarching narrative. Pave your path towards darkness or light by forming bonds, exploring the lands, and completing missions.

A playscore of 8.15

3. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Out of all the games on this list, FFXIV had the rockiest start ever. It was not the kind of Final Fantasy game fans expected. Thankfully, Square Enix got their stuff together and completely overhauled its systems. Literally a realm reborn, this brand new FFXIV experience ushered FF fans into a hub for their own Final Fantasy adventures that only got better with each successive patch.

Its latest, Shadowbringers, takes players to a whole new dimension with the addition of new jobs, story arc and more.

As a subscription-based game, it demands time and your money to completely enjoy its content. Showered with constant updates, it has been a constant enjoyment that's only evolved for the better through the years.

A playscore of 8.21

2. World Of Warcraft

Blizzard may not be in its best state right now, but you can’t deny the massive influence of their MMORPG masterpiece.

Over the years, World of Warcraft has generated countless stories, characters and various forms of media due to its expansive lore.

With seven massive expansions, it’s intimidating for new players to begin their journey, it does have a strong and loyal community that continues to push the game to new heights. And just to be clear, we are not talking about classic WoW.

Considered as one of the oldest MMORPGs ever, only a handful of young players roam its lands. Most are middle-aged people who’ve been through this game since time immemorial. A playscore of 8.22

1. Guild Wars 2

Dethroning Blizzard’s magnum opus is its free-to-play rival.

Guild Wars 2 is no different from all the games on this list, you create your own character and put him to a massive high-fantasy world. However, its creators strive to make it stand out from the rest of the crowd. This includes its impressive dynamic questing which lets players take on missions with a high degree of freedom.

Apart from that, its complex battle system involves magic mastery and manipulating the environment around you to get the upper hand. The land of Tyria is riddled with danger, but GW2’s community is always around to help fresh adventurers.

Its most recent expansions, Path of Fire and Living World, adds new mounts and class specializations so that you can explore the world of Guild Wars without fear. But you have to pay for it.

It has a playscore of 8.52

Sony's delay of last week's PlayStation 5 event was a bummer, but it looks like we won’t have to wait too long for the reveal.

As found spotted on a Twitch ad by Fandom, the PlayStation 5 announce looks to have been moved to June 11. Here’s the photo:

A lot of fans were disappointed that Sony cancelled the event last week, but I think it was ultimately a good move on Sony’s part to delay the announcement.

Sony postponed the PlayStation 5 event from its original date last June 4 to give way to the voices of the growing Black Lives Matter protests in the wake of the death of George Floyd in Minnesota.

We don’t have much details on the console yet, but everyone is excited for the possible lineup of games that could come with the PlayStation 5.

Titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla have been confirmed for the next gen console, but everyone is hoping to get updates on games like Spider-Man 2 or the follow-up to the latest God of War.

Sony is expected to officially announce the PS5 this coming Thursday, June 11.

Plus, players will also be able to try out Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville.

These titles are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to EA Access, and we should expect that more will be available in The Vault.

EA Access will give subscribers an enhanced gaming experience by including several rewards when it comes to their titles. Also, expect some in-game member benefits when everything goes live.

We don’t have the full round of info for EA Access on Steam yet, but we should get the full rundown when EA Play goes live. Catch it on EA.com 4 p.m. PST on June 11.
