Her origin story may be different, the action and the adventure stays quite the same and it receives a playscore of 8.86

Featuring the Dynamic Weather System for the first time in Motorsport, it's one of their most beautiful and immersive entries with a playscore of 8.86

10. Total War: WARHAMMER II

9. Titanfall 2

Titanfall may be more known for their multiplayer mode, their second entry was the first to feature a singleplayer campaign.
8. Dark Souls III

While having gained their reputation for their patience-testing combat, this farewell to the series had a lot in store for willing adventurers. Adding new layers of complexity to their gameplay, and variety to their items and monster designs, Dark Souls III is equal parts beauty and beast with a score of 8.96

7. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

While Kojima's Death Stranding isn't out on the PC yet, this fifth installment of the long-running Metal Gear series remains as his highest-rated title. It showcased the best of the Fox Engine with its emergent open world and deep stealth mechanics. As usual for Kojima, the story is a subject to criticism but it was a fitting farewell to Snake's story. It has a playscore of 8.98

6. Devil May Cry 5

CAPCOM had a killer comeback prepared for their fifth entry. Not only does it take us back into the shoes of demon slayers Nero and Dante, but it also adds a new character into the mix--leveling up the variety and excitement of their hack and slash action. Play around with the new ways to kill, and put style into your slaying. Considered one of the best Devil May Cry games in a while, it has a score of 8.99

5. SEKIRO: Shadows Die Twice

The Dark Souls series may have met its end, but there's still fresh new ideas coming from FromSoftware. Retaining the brutal difficulty of their previous games, play as a Samurai with a prosthetic arm and make your way through the gorgeous landscapes of 16th Century Sengoku Japan. The scenery may be beautiful and rife with the creepiness of Japanese myth, it's a rough road ahead for whoever dares. It has a playscore of 9.07

4. Resident Evil 2

CAPCOM is doing amazing work with their reboot series but Resident Evil 2 was them at the top of their game. Bringing back their proven and tested formula for survival horror, take on the roles of Leon and Claire as they go through their original storyline with a few changes in perspective.
Larian Studios' reputation for high quality RPGs has risen so fast since the debut of their Divinity series. In this sequel, their world grew even bigger, allowing players to bring a friend to tag-along or lord over others in DM mode. At its heart, though, it's still the immersive, story-driven experience it always was. Dive into their fully-realized world of complex characters and interactive environments. Faithful to the spirit of pen and paper RPGs, it has a score of 9.37

2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt Red's latest greatest achievement before the unfortunately delayed release of Cyberpunk 2077. It was this game that brought them to international attention, putting a close to their Witcher trilogy with a vibrant open world that's brimming with life. They have since improved the experience with new DLCs, but even its vanilla state, The Witcher III is a hallmark of the studio's excellence, earning a score of 9.4

1. Half-Life: Alyx

Valve's latest surprise. Yes, you'll need extra equipment to experience this next-level title, but they did make sure that it's worth your time and investment. It's not exactly the sequel we all expected. However, it's an expansion of the universe that they created, stirring the same kind of tension, terror, and intrigue that the original presented. A technical and narrative feat, it gets a score of 9.49

Fallen corporate shogun Lo Wang and his former employer turned nemesis turned sidekick Orochi Zilla embark on an improbable mission to recapture an ancient dragon they unwillingly unleashed from its eternal prison. Armed with a punishing mix of blades and bullets, Lo Wang must traverse uncharted parts of the world to track down the dark beast and push the apocalypse back yet again...

The teaser gives us a look at all the things people like about the game, from the first-person action to Wang just spouting his mouth off. It also shows a new game mechanic in the form of a grappling hook, but I’m sure there’s more in store once we get a look at a gameplay trailer.

It feels like a Deadpool game, with all its fourth-wall-breaking and snarky comments. Until Flying Hog gets some kind of deal with Marvel, this will probably be the closest thing we have to a modern DP game title.

Lo Wang Returns in New Teaser for Shadow Warrior 3

With The Last of Us Part II releasing last month, Wales Interactive has decided to drop a new gameplay trailer for their survival horror game—Maid of Sker.

Watch this:

Here’s also the official description:

Inspired by the haunting Welsh folklore tale of Elisabeth Williams, Maid of Sker draws players back to 1898 to venture through the shadowy halls of Sker Hotel. Armed only with a defensive sound-device, players will have to keep eyes open and stay alert through the waking nightmare in order to solve the supernatural mystery that hangs over the Sker Hotel.

The game carries a lot of influence from survival/horror games like BioShock and The Last of Us—maybe even a little Death Stranding. The overall dark aesthetic could very well pass for a level in BioShock, and the sound-based enemies could very well be the infamous clickers from TLOU. As for holding your breath to make sure you don’t make a sound, that’s very much a mechanic that we got in Hideo Kojima’s latest game.

The game looks pretty interesting, and I’m sure a lot of people would get a kick out of it if they tried it out. If you want to see the other games that Wales Interactive have worked on, you should check out titles like The Bunker, The Complex, and Don’t Knock Twice to get a good gauge of what’s in store for Sker.

Maid of Sker becomes available for Xbox One, PC, Switch, and PS4 on July 28.

15. Missile Command: Recharged

A strong start to our best free games list. Atari returns to the scene this year with a revival of one of their beloved classic arcade titles. Made for the new generation of platforms, this iteration of the Missile Command title forgoes the bulky pixels of the bygone videogame era for the smooth HD graphics of today. Even so, it still has all the markings of the original game.

Pick up from where you last left off and dive once more into arcade addiction. It has a playscore of 7.37

14. Shadowgun War Games - Online PvP FPS

With this new game's arrival on the android, Madfinger Games has received the same warm welcome for yet another futuristic shooter. Focusing on co-op multiplayer gameplay, War Games plays on the 5v5 formula, covering the usual lineup of tanks, supports, and damage dealers. While it only has five characters, they each have unique skills that bring something new to the table. Plus, you get to customize them with skins, emotes, and more. Madfinger Games have always been known for their clean, polished visual and they brought that same energy to this title.

A portable and FREE shooter, it receives a playscore of 7.39

13. DRAGON QUEST OF THE STARS

A star-studded production made especially for the mobile. Square Enix presents something on the mobile that united the powers of Dragon Quest's own Yuji Horii and Koichi Sugiyama for direction and music, as well as Dragon Ball's Akira Toriyama for character design. From the looks of things, it's a pretty high-quality title and the fact that this game is free makes it a little unbelievable. On the other hand, it does have a fair bit of flaws. As in most mobile games, it has some pay to win elements, with overpowered items that widen the gap between players with rare gems and those without.

But, for a price of absolutely nothing, it offers a pretty expansive open-world experience that earns a playscore of 7.45

12. Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall

Thanks to Behavior Interactive, fans of the HBO series may finally have something to hold onto. A turn-based strategy, it challenges you to take command of the Night's Watch and defend the wall with an optimized squad. As a videogame tie-in, it even features some of our favorite heroes from the series to fight with us side by side in a war of fire and ice.

It may not be as spectacular as the iconic battles we had the pleasure of witnessing through the years, but it does come with fun gameplay and a unique story that fans will definitely enjoy. It has a playscore of 7.51

11. Disney Sorcerer's Arena

Going with Disney’s more traditional licenses, Sorcerer's Arena lets you engage in turn-based RPG goodness using the legendary heroes of our collective cartoon childhood. From their 2D classics like Mickey Mouse and the Little Mermaid to the 3D favorites like Sully and Buzz Lightyear. Also featuring a real-time PVP, use these heroes to show off your skills and compete against other people from around the globe. Some of the items may be a bit pricey though, as most Disney things are, so you should better watch out for any in-app purchases.

It has a playscore of 7.65

10. Magic: ManaStrike

Strategy games have definitely hit it big on the mobile this year. Instead of the usual turn-based titles, this new game from Netmarble deals with the action of real-time combat. Following the formula of SUPERCELL's Clash Royale and using characters from Magic: The Gathering, it focuses on the power of spells and sorcery to create exciting and strategic battles. Because it's based on a card game, it's cardgame mechanics seem a lot deeper than the usual fare. And, with the vast universe of its source material, there's a lot of vibrance in its presentation too.

Something for fans of Clash Royale and Magic: The Gathering, it gets a playscore of 7.81

9. KartRider Rush+

While KartRider: Drift is already lined for the PC and Consoles sometime soon, Nexon Games gives us our first taste in this portable version. At first glance, the game looks mighty fine, with its lively environments populated by a lineup of adorable racers. In their various game modes, race clean in the Speed Race, strategically use items in the classic Item Race, or zoom through their singleplayer story mode. Kartracers have always been a multiplayer extravaganza though, and that's definitely this game's biggest draw.

If you're careful against those pricey cars, you might enjoy this free racer with a score of 8.01

8. Cryptract

Though it has only been localized on the Android this year, Cryptract has actually been at it for years now, mainly as a Japanese mobile game and as a port to the PlayStation 4. It may offer less in terms of wow factor, it does balance it all out with a fantastic "never-ending" storyline, a decent amount of content, and a pretty balanced gacha system. All that combined makes it feel like a more premium experience than the previous games. Take your pick from their selection of characters and watch them evolve into even more powerful players in the long game of strategy.

Still a neat free to play JRPG, it gets a score of 8.04

7. MIB: Galaxy Defenders Free 3D Alien Gun Shooter

As far mobile games go, this Sony Pictures tie-in is a pretty straightforward on-rails shooter that's reminiscent of the arcade games we used to love. In every stage, you'll find a few worthy aliens to blast. Take your aim, with whatever gun the stage requires, and in barely a minute, you'll be ready for the next one. The levels might be a little too easy, and precise aim just a little bit challenging, it’s an exciting way to spend a few minutes nonetheless--especially with a few bonus challenges to achieve.

Nailing everything from gameplay to graphics, it gets a score of 8.04

6. Teamfight Tactics: League of Legends Strategy Game

The auto battler genre may have made its origins on the Valve's Dota 2, that hasn't stopped the makers of one of the widest-played MOBA to cash in on it too. By bringing the high production experience of the PC title to the portable format, Riot effectively reels their high player numbers into a brand new game. The interface and balance may seemingly have a lot of room for improvement, compared to the many auto-chess clones out there, this is a huge upgrade. Providing a high-quality avenue for fans of the strategy phenomenon, it gets a playscore of 8.04

5. Hidden Survivor

Even in the realm of free games, it always pays to be unique. That much is true for Hidden Survivor which feels like an odd fusion of classic tag and battle royale. Set in some weird universe where humans turn into ordinary objects, you must dominate the gym-like battlefield. First by adapting to your environment, and then by racing to a revival potion to eliminate the other hidden humans. With pretty short matches, it offers a great casual experience you can jump into at any time. It has a score of 8.09

4. Evil Hunter Tycoon - Nonstop Fighting & Building

Facing you in this title is a two-fold task: first to rebuild a destroyed town back to its former glory and, second, to give brave hunters a space to train their skills for the fight against a Dark Lord. Its city management is enjoyable in itself, with plenty of resources to balance for the betterment of the village. Watch it and your citizens grow from nothingness and save the human race once and for all. An interesting pixel title, it receives a playscore of 8.19

3. Exos Heroes

It’s easy to be drawn into LINE Games strategy RPG, especially with its stunning Japanese style visuals and its roster of characters that's brimming with personality. Just like some of our previous games, it's also a turn-based RPG. What makes this special is its combination of a compelling story, solid combat, and awesome presentations. While it still has some of the annoying aspects of standard mobile gacha gaming, it more than makes up for it, with its array of colorful heroes.

A gorgeous looking gacha game, it receives a playscore of 8.24

2. War Tortoise 2 - Idle Exploration Shooter

Idle games are just the perfect havens for casual gamers on the smartphone. And perhaps that's the reason for the success of this free-to-play first-person shooter. It's definitely no ordinary idle game. Aside from the fact that it's about a world engulfed in conflict borne on the backs of War Tortoises, it also mixes it up with elements of exploration and incremental shooting.

Featuring gorgeous graphics and a fair money generation system, it earns its spot on the list with a score of 8.34

1. Legends of Runeterra

And our best FREE game of 2020 so far is another Riot creation. Their dive into collectible card gaming has been met with nothing but open arms, both by fans already invested in Riot's creations and newbies to the genre. Add that to the high-quality production that's expected from Riot, then you got yourself a card game that's fun even when you're losing.

It gets a playscore of 8.63

F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch, a new adventure sidescrolling game from PlayStation's China Hero Project, has just released a new trailer.

F.I.S.T.:Forged In Shadow Torch, a PlayStation China Hero Project selected game. Take a glimpse of the original story and the arcade-style combat in an interconnected Metroidvania game map combining oriental city view and gorgeous dieselpunk aesthetics. Presenting an excellent visual performance to bring the old-school genre to a new level.

It looks like FIST will only let you take control of the rabbit main character. If anything, the title of FIST is appropriate, seeing that your main weapon for combat is a giant robotic fist stacked with weapons. Hopefully the gameplay gets more creative down the line, what with the endless potential for vehicles and other animals.

It’s interesting that this game should come out, what with the rise of ‘furry’ titles like Beastars and BNA: Brand New Animal. It’s definitely a unique world which has a lot of potential to grow. If this gets successful enough, they could probably make an animated movie about it. How about a 3D platformer spinoff like Jak and Daxter?

No release date has been set for FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch, but it’s possible the game could come out before the year ends. For more games, you can check out our updated list of Upcoming PS4 Games.

Following the release of the Last of Us Part II, people are now looking at the next big game which is Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch Productions. The studio has just dropped a new cinematic trailer for the game, and we have a look at our protagonist Jin.

Check it out:

Here’s also an official description for the game:

Tsushima is on the brink of destruction. In the wake of a crushing defeat at the hands of ruthless Mongol invaders, noble samurai Jin Sakai must sacrifice everything to protect what’s left of his home and people. As he embarks on an epic adventure for the freedom of Tsushima, he must set aside samurai traditions, embrace unconventional methods, and forge a new path—the path of the Ghost.

The new cinematic trailer teases the setting of the game as well as the play-style, with Jin making use of several different gadgets, and of course, his katana.

Because of FromSoftware's SEKIRO: Shadows Die Twice, the Medieval Japan setting has become infamous for Souls-like levels of difficulty. Ghost of Tsushima will hopefully be a lot more friendly for novice fans of the period.

With The Last of Us Part II basically being a divisive release for Naughty Dog, hopefully, Sucker Punch will have a more generally accepted game when this game comes out next month.

Ghost of Tsushima comes out on the PS4 on July 17. For more games, you can check out our updated list of upcoming PlayStation 4 games as well as the complete list of all upcoming PS5 releases.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally set to come out in April, but the game has been delayed multiple times, recently settling for a November release. While this may come as a bummer for some fans, CD Projekt Red has released a new gameplay trailer to try and keep them excited for the game.

Check it out:

</

While the trailer focuses on a character trying to pull off a heist, one of the main hooks of Cyberpunk is the freedom of choices that you can make in the game. Whether you want to be a hardened criminal or a more law-abiding citizen, Cyberpunk is promising that you can have that option and be whoever you want to be.

It’s also worth mentioning that we have one more short appearance from Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves). While Reeves is one of the main hooks of the game, the devs may want to be sparing when it comes to revealing his role.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. CD Projekt Red has released a new gameplay trailer to try and keep the fans excited despite the recent delays.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gets a New Gameplay Trailer

Very few game titles manage to make their mark in pop-culture, but SNK’s Metal Slug franchise remains to be a classic. It’s been a while since we got a Metal Slug title for console, but a new title is being worked on for mobile gaming.

Check out the trailer:

As it turns out, TiMi Studios is teaming up with SNK Corporation to bring us a new Metal Slug mobile game which they are dubbing Metal Slug Code: J. It doesn’t look like Code J is the official title, and we should get something more solid before the year ends.

SNK Game Producer Yasuyuki Oda said about the upcoming title, "Metal Slug has such an amazing history of great action and gameplay so we're proud to bring this to mobile gamers around the world… We're happy to work closely with such a strong developer as TiMi Studios on this latest Metal Slug title."

On the TiMi side of things, general manager of J1 studio Winco Qin says:

"Metal Slug is one of the great arcade franchises and a perfect fit for mobile play,… Our team has been focused on a faithful recreation of the game's classic shoot'em-up style, easily accessible for players that's fun for new and existing fans of the genre."

Metal Slug is one of those franchises that only really works in its original format. Though there have been attempts to update on the series, they have never been able to get the same level of prestige as the originals. While mobile seems to be the way to go for the series.

No release date has been announced for the Metal Slug Code: J but hopefully it comes out sometime later this year.
