After the success of Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, which currently ranks as one of the best PS4 metroidvania games, and Minoria on the PC, Dangen Entertainment and Bombservice have been working on bringing their hit action game to the console.

In a recent trailer, they announced the game's arrival to the Switch, PS4, and Xbox One this September.

As a spiritual successor to their Momodora series, Minoria boasts a lot of similarities to Bombservice's previous Metroidvania title.

Like Momodora, Minoria's gameplay is packed with parries, dodges, and a whole variety of attack combos and spells.

But, while the level designs will also be familiar, Minoria moved away from the 2D pixel art visuals and went for a more high-resolution aesthetic that mixes hand painted backdrops with cel-shaded characters and sequences.

Set in the same universe, Minoria takes place during a time of extreme religious fervor when heretics are hunted down to "purge" their sins. Playing as Sister Semilla, a missionary given the task of purifying the world, you find that your mission is more than meets the eye.

Minoria is set to release on the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on September 10.

Momodoria's Spiritual Successor, Minoria, is Coming to Consoles this September

A little over 400 FREE games were released on the Android and iOS last July. With another month down, we've got our updated list of Free Mobile games for Android and iOS.

15. Haunted Heartbeats: Horror Otome Romance Novel

Otome Romance Games are a godsend, and even more so in these unprecedented times. But with Haunted Heartbeats, romance comes in twisted, supernatural forms. As a member of the occult club, your discovery of a secret has since led to an outbreak of murder. It's up to you and your club to find out who the next victim will be and put a stop to the killings. All that while finding the love of your life, because what better way to do so than that? Your choices, and your choice of ad opportunities, will fuel your investigation and your search for love. It gets a gamerscore of 9.38

14. Age of Apes

TAP4FUN creates another environment for building, innovation, and battles--this time set in a distant Age of Apes. You might expect it to be just another Clash of Clans clone, but it seems to have a wider scope of strategy concepts in its world of perpetual horde battles. Compete for resources against other hordes, build up your own city, and win the race towards the banana in the sky. Aside from its unique gameplay functions, it also boasts a lot of functionality in terms of team strategies and attacks. It has a gamerscore of 9.40

13. Shadow Knight

Hack and Slash games are great for when you just hit things. Now, with this game from Fansipan Limited, you can get that kind of action on the comforts of your mobile phone. Telling the story of a Shadow Knight who dives into hell to bring back the light into a world sunk into despair, use your skills and magical abilities to plow through the waves of monsters and demons that come your way. What makes it even more compelling, is that its dark, silhouetted visual style makes for animations that are smooth, fast, and exciting. It receives a gamerscore of 9.40

12. Riding Cubes

Sometimes all you need is a light, casual time killer, and Riding Cubes definitely fits that. Take to their neon environments and slide across their simple tracks populated with bricks and diamonds. The game is essentially a balancing act between survival and scores. Bump into similarly colored blocks to take them into your stead, and use them as fodder against the brick obstacles that lay in your path to a new high score. It's simple, straightforward, but also sneakily addictive. A perfect company in small waits, it gets a gamerscore of 9.41

11. Battle Legion Mass Battler

A casual game for hardcore battle fans! There might've been some mass battlers out there before, but they don't seem to look as good as this one. Using visuals that are familiar to long-time mobile gamers, Battle Legion makes planning out war tactics seems simple. You'll have all the freedom of picking out your units, whether its close combat warriors, archers, fortifications, and so much more. Decide which layout will bode well against a limitless pool of opponents and their own variety gameplay styles. Strategy for both casuals and veterans, it gets a gamerscore of 9.42

10. Phantom Rose Scarlet

It's always impressive to find games carved out of nothingness by solo developers. We had one of those gems last month in this roguelike adventure by makaroll. On the surface, it may seem like your run of the mill mobile game. But, it hides a lot of uniqueness and complexity within its card-based gameplay. Build your deck with their over 100 different cards, experiment with different playstyles to discover what works for you, and dive into dungeons packed with challenging monsters. Another great strategy game, it gets a gamerscore of 9.45

9. Soda Dungeon 2

The sequel to one of the best RPGs on the iOS has finally arrived on the Android. After a furious battle with a dark lord in one dimension, it's time to climb back up the ladders of roleplaying riches in another. Just like the first game, you won't have to do it all alone. Just upgrade your local tavern with chairs and the best sodas money can buy, and loot the dark lord's dungeons once again. Still presented with detailed pixel visuals and the same tongue in cheek humor, the sequel definitely lives up to the original and it receives a gamerscore of 9.45

8. Aggretsuko

An anime about a cute red panda that sings death metal at night may not be the best poster girl for the contemplative match-three puzzle game. But developers HIVE somehow make it work, injecting the mad fury of Retsuko in-between her quiet office life antics. Gather round the animals in their calm puzzle games, ask for help, and boosts from her friendly co-workers and conquer the day without breaking out in anger. For fans of the show, you'll even be able to watch the episodes from the inside game itself. It has a gamerscore of 9.46 on the iOS and 9.39 on the android

7. Kite Flying Festival Challenge

Kite Flying is a sport that many enjoy around the world, and now you can enjoy it even without the wind, cuts, and glue. As far the app goes, it's a pretty barebones game. Get into the action by aligning yourself with one of the kites and alternating between pulling and letting go to cut the rival kites. With enough wins, you'll be able to buy and collect a variety of different kite designs. For people who haven't played the sport, it might be hard to get into. And, we'd be willing to bet it's not quite as exciting as the real thing. Still, it gets a gamerscore of 9.51

6. Awakening of the Eclipse: Otome Romance Game

As we said before, Otome Romance Games are a godsend, especially in unprecedented times like today. With Awakening of the Eclipse, we get a taste of new romance as a junior college student that's swept away into bloody nightmares and into the arms of the man of her dreams. You'll have three guys vying for your attention: a hot-headed fighter, a bookworm, and a vampire lord. Your choices, and maybe a few minutes worth of ads, will eventually decide which heart you will win forever. All the drama and romance without the heartbreak, it receives a gamerscore of 9.57

5. MARVEL Duel

The card game genre has set itself apart with the simplicity of its gameplay and the seriousness of its strategy, Marvel Duel shows us what gaming today is capable of. Featuring their iconic roster of heroes and supervillains, watch the card battles come alive as you aim to outwit each of your opponents in a bid to restore the Marvel Universe. Heavy as it is, it might be exciting for fans to watch their favorite characters interact and battle in full 3D cinematics. If you can sit through a few of their post-launch bugs, this may be worth your time with a gamerscore of 9.59

4. Solitaire Klondike Fish

While solitaire is already a pretty solid choice for a FREE mobile game, this entry takes recreation to another level. Not only do you get the basic solitaire experience in a simple, clear-cut manner, you also get to do it in the comforts of the undersea environment, along with cute fishes and a cool blue backdrop. This might sound like a mafia job gone wrong, but it is actually a pretty neat experience that even guides you through each game with some helpful hints. While there are still the usual ads, they never get int the way of the full solitaire experience. It receives a gamerscore of 9.68

3. Tales of Crestoria

The Tales series has been giving us some of the best that JRPGs can offer from console to console, and now they're conquering the mobile too. In Tales of Crestoria, we have a brand new adventure that expands our appreciation for the long-running series. Crestoria is a relatively generous game that lets you choose your starter characters, reward you with gems, and get to know characters from the Tales world. Still, a bit bogged down by gacha elements and premium currencies, it gets a playscore of 7.40

2. Good Sudoku by Zach Gage

Sudoku is not an easy game to learn. But, thankfully, through the valiant efforts of Zack Gage and Jack Schlesinger, even the humblest beginners will find a way to enjoy this classic puzzle game. Good Sudoku has a few features that will hold your hand through your first steps. With focus mode, find the best house, rows, and columns for each selected number and sift through each of the nine digits until you've found a home for each one. The full package will open you up to an ad-less experience, as well as a number of modes and customizations. It has a playscore of 8.10

1. Creaks

The first thing you'll probably notice about this game is just how gorgeous it looks. Another game from Amanita Design--the makers of Botanicula and Samorost--Creaks takes you on an adventure around a gloomy yet magical world of labyrinthine hallways, levers, and creepy bird-like monsters. It's definitely a premium looking experience, and if you're wondering what the catch is: it's only free to apple arcade subscribers. If you have time to try out Apple's new service for free, you'll get to experience our number one title with a playscore of 8.44

Rocksteady has delivered some very solid Batman games with the Arkham trilogy, and though rumors have been going around for years about what their next title is going to be, no one could have guessed that it was going to focus on this super team of supervillains.

Rocksteady has announced Suicide Squad, a game which they’ll delve into more come DC FanDome this coming Aug. 22.

Here’s the post:

For years people have been guessing what kind of title Rocksteady has been working on, and while some were convinced that it was going to be another Arkham title, rumors were also going around that it was going to focus on Superman this time. If anything, the Superman rumor does have some meat to it, as Superman is apparently going to be featured in the next game, but not as a playable character

We don’t really know what to expect with Suicide Squad yet, so all we can do now is speculate.

I guess that it will allow players to switch between each member of the Squad, and they come in variations of play-style just like the Bat-family in the Arkham games.

I’d also want it to have a singular narrative that we can follow, with the same open-world elements of Arkham; and each Justice League member is going to serve as a boss.

Hopefully we get a good look at Suicide Squad come DC FanDome on Aug. 22.

With the PlayStation 5 set to come out later this year, Sony has been very careful and intricate when it comes to making reveals for their console. While we don’t know everything about the PS5 yet, God of War director Cory Barlog is hyping up the next-gen console, especially when it comes to the system’s SSD.

Talking to Animal Talking (via Video Game Chronicle) Barlog explains:

It’s pretty exciting actually, there’s a lot of stuff that we’ve been messing around with and seeing, especially for me the SSD is just amazing.

I’m impatient and I don’t like any kind of load times. We’ve gone to great lengths in this series, like all the way back to the PS2, of trying to hide any kind of loading so that you never really feel like you’re having that artificial layer of the game break you out of it – we let the menus do that and all the upgrading and stuff.

Probably one of the biggest features of the PS5 is the promise of no loading times, and an SSD processor is definitely going to be a huge factor in making that feature a reality.

No release date or price point has been set for the PS5 yet, but the console is expected to come out this holiday season.

Focus Home Interactive and Rogue Factor's upcoming third person tactical action game, Necromunda: Underhive Wars, has just received its official release date and it all came in this one minute package of new cinematics and exciting gameplay footage.

Check it out below:

Deep below the nightmarish, polluted hive cities of Necromunda, in the twisted, vertiginous, dark tunnels of the Underhive, rival gangs fight to the bitter end for personal power, wealth, survival and the honour of their House.

Set in a far-future cityscape, Necromunda: Underhive Wars tells of a bloody battle between rival gangs, Escher, Goliath, and Orlock.

It's up to you to develop their chosen Houses, upgrading the skills of each member, and strategizing around the game's dystopian environments.

For the uninitiated, this is a videogame adaptation of Necromunda, one of Warhamer 40,000's most famous Hive World.

Aside from their singleplayer campaign, there's going to be a lot of action in their immersive game modes, which you can play solo and or in 4-way online multiplayer.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars is set to release on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 8, with pre-orders currently available for its PC version.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars Confirmed For Release in September

The Last of Us Part II was the most-talked about game of June, and Naughty Dog isn’t quite done with the story of Ellie and Abby. Just in, they’ve announced the Grounded Update which will add a whole new level of difficulty to the game, as well as a Permadeath mode.

Check out the trailer:

In Grounded mode, players will be forced to go through the game without the Listen mode as well as a minimal HUD; and enemies will also be made deadlier with ammo, supplies, and upgrades made incredibly scarce.

If that isn’t enough though, you can also play the Permadeath mode which will only allow you one life for the whole game; meaning that if you die even once, you’re going to start over from the very beginning.

Naughty Dog isn’t going to make it completely impossible to play, as players will also be allowed to make checkpoints per chapter/act where if you die in the middle of Day One, you’ll just have to play that day all over again.

While Grounded and Permadeath seem to be the main points of the update, there’s also new material for people who aren’t masochists. Naughty Dog has added a bunch of fun filters to change the visuals of the game, and you can have it either cell-shaded or in retro 8-bit.

Here’s a full list of extras:

Mirror World

Mirror on Death

Slow Motion

Bullet Speed mode

Infinite Ammo

Infinite Crafting

Infinite Melee Durability

Infinite Listen mode Range

One Shot

Touch of Death

8-bit Audio

4-bit Audio

Helium Audio

Xenon Audio

For more info, you can read all about it on the PlayStation Blog.

The Last of Us Part II Introduces Grounded Update with Permadeath Mode

We got our first look at Mortal Shell Shell back in April, and the trailer from Cold Symmetry and Playstack had promised once again a punishing, wonderfully designed game.

While we sat for months without a release, a new trailer has announced that the game is actually going to be available sometime later in the month.

Watch this:

As is turns out, Mortal Shell will be playable come Aug. 18 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Here’s the official description for the game:

"Awakening as an empty vessel, you will enter into a shattered and twisted world where the remains of humanity wither and rot.

Implored to do the bidding of the mysterious “Dark Father”, you must traverse this tattered landscape and track down hidden sanctums of devout followers. There, in Mortal Shell’s most hallowed grounds, you must overcome formidable foes and harvest the sacred glands.

You won’t be truly alone when the dead litter your path: Scattered across this land are the remnant anima of lost warriors who can be inhabited to gain their unique abilities and knowledge of weapons. The Dark Father is desperate for you to complete your task — but to what end?"

It has a lot of elements that you can expect from a Soulslike game, from the uniquely designed bosses to the controller-mashing difficulty.

Probably the new element that Mortal Shell wants to bring to the table is the ability to possess fallen enemies. Players are expected to adapt to different skillsets whenever they take possession of any new character.

I have to say, this game looks to be releasing earlier than expected. At some point, I was thinking a trailer today would mean a release sometime later in the year, but instead we’re looking at Mortal Shell becoming available in a few weeks. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint.

Catch Mortal Shell when it becomes available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on Aug. 18.

You can find more games in our respective lists for Upcoming Xbox One Games, Upcoming PS4 Games, and Upcoming PC Games.

Mortal Shell Announces August Release with New Trailer

With Xbox and PlayStation gearing up for their release of next-gen consoles, gamers are once again left wondering the benefits of one over the other. Recently, Xbox has promoted one fantastic feather in their cap with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Check it out:

On September 15 in select markets, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to play over 100 Xbox games like Minecraft Dungeons, Forza Horizon 4, and Destiny 2 on Android phones and tablets from the cloud (Beta) via the Xbox Game Pass mobile app, at no additional cost.

We don’t know exactly what titles are going to be available, but Xbox promises to give fans a full list come Sept. 15.

PlayStation seems to focus on ‘moving forward’ with the next generation of gaming, while Xbox is leaning in to the thought of making an ‘eco-system’ of gamers where titles from even the first hte first gen of Xbox will still be accessible to gamers.

It’s a tough choice: Either push forward with new games for the PlayStation or have access to an entire library of games across four generations of consoles.

With PlayStation taking over the public eye for the past few months, gamers are now eagerly awaiting the big reveal for the Xbox Series X. Hopefully Microsoft manages to impress later this month, seeing that the PS4 had undoubtedly won the current gen of gaming.

9 Monkeys of Shaolin marks a true rebirth of the iconic beat 'em up genre in vein of old-school video games. If, as a kid, you had hours of fun playing beat 'em up videogames crushing foes left and right then this new title from the creators of hardcore brawler REDEEMER is definitely for you!

9 Monkeys of Shaolin puts you in the shoes of a Chinese fisherman named Wei Change whose mission is to avenge the death of your family and friends after their demise at the hands of pirates who raided your village.

Throughout the game, you'll be learning the art that Shaolin monks have mastered. There will be three fighting styles to choose, each with a connection to elements like earth and air, or to a mysterious magic force. All of these, as well as various unlockable perks, items, and array of Chinese and Japans weaponry, will help you develop the farmer Wei Change into a legendary Shaolin.

There's 25 different levels in the game, with locations varying from villages, to pirate ships, and Japanese mansions. All of these are presented in the stunning art style that you see in the trailer.

Just like old beat-em-ups, you can even bring along a friend to fight off the waves of enemies in co-op mode.

9 Monkeys of Shaolin is set to release on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on October 16.

9 Monkeys of Shaolin Brings Back Beat Em Up In Style

One of the games we talked about in our Upcoming Racing Games video. R8 Games' gorgeous anti-gravity racer, PACER, is now set to officially release this September.

Check out the official release date trailer below:

Earning comparisons to the iconic racing game, F-Zero, PACER will let you compete in high octane podracing in over 8 different game modes and 14 unique tracks, each of which you can play around in 8 different ways--whether at night, mirrored mode, or reverse.

PACER allows for competitions of up to 10 players in online multiplayer. This definitely works well with one of their prized game modes, Storm, which is inspired by the popular Battle Royale genre.

The campaign mode will see you as a trainee pilot who will be tasked to advance through 10 different race teams in order to be the best racing champion in the world.

To add to that, you'll even get to customize your own craft, choosing from an array of five craft types which you can tune and equip with varying weapons.

After a lengthy stint in early access as "Formula Fusion", it will be refreshing to see witness how much the game has changed since its early development days.

PACER will release on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on September 17th.
