77Disc Jam is in an interesting place. It has the solid foundation for a classic game in the same vein of Rocket League. The characters are fun, the gameplay is competitive and addicting, and it keeps bringing you back for more. But it’s hard it ignore what’s not there. The arena doesn’t feel stale to me yet, but aft
With very little competition on the market, it’s no surprise Front Office Football is the premier text sim available for this sport. Despite the less-than-stellar graphics, FOF8 does all the little things right. The game is as in-depth as any sports game on the market, and kept me coming back for more and more.
I’ve got to hand it to Different Cloth: They beat the odds by not only finding a new twist to make a racing game seem like a new experience, but implemented it quite well. Switching between tracks breaks races up into several micro-sprints that give the game a frenzied pace. Unfortunately, it’s everything built around that mechanic that fails to provide enough support to sustain an enjoyable experience past the first few hours of gameplay.
If Handball 17 had been released a few years ago at a reasonable price point, it would have staked a claim for a purchase. At this point in time, it feels too dated and lacking in depth to attract anyone but the most passionate of handball fans. Even then, they'll need to dig deep to find the appeal in an all-too-often flawed experience that fails to match its extortionate asking price.
Between the visuals, the hugeness of the game, the variety of events, and the solid foundation the game is built on means I'm finding it hard to not recommend this title. It's a unique experience in the sports game genre, and despite some of the design flaws, the action on the slopes is ultimately one of my favorite experiences in sports games this year.
FHM 3 offers a sandbox with which hockey fans will find a lot of enjoyment in managing teams and trying out some fun scenarios. The interface isn't perfect, but it's far from bad, and you'll find your AI opponents give you a decent enough challenge as you simulate through the years.
Regardless, last year's edition seemed like a low point for the franchise and now that we are seeing the game build itself back up, there's hope for the future. For now, if you are an NBA stat nut who always wanted to manage your own roster and wanted all the statistical options to do that with, Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2017 offers a compelling way to do just that.
Motorsport Manager, in my opinion, fits nicely as an entry level management sim. It’s easy to use with a very friendly interface accompanied by stylish graphics. As a game, it keeps the minutia under control, allowing you to focus on bigger decisions and the thrill of racing. Plus, it is challenging without being punishing.
This is a simulator of epic proportions. It offers unparalleled realism, retaining the great qualities of past versions while adding an additional layer of balance and true-to-life managerial elements. It's guaranteed to stick long in the memory, as team talks, highlight reels and press conferences populate your daydreams for the next year. Watch out, it will take over your life.
I'm not going to lie, in its current state, Infinite Air is just not a playable title for most people. You are going to have to overlook a lot of big flaws to find the enjoyment this game could offer. The only positive this game has is how the open-worlds concept was designed, as its actually cleverly done. A game with far better gameplay mechanics would be wise to take some notes on how Infinite Air handles the open-world extreme sports concept.
