- As it stands, fairly little has been added this year, but the developers did fix a number of previous issues. Long-time fans of the series will probably still pick up the game for roster updates, but casual players may be hesitant to pick up 2017 as I don’t believe the changes are great enough to warrant another purchase.
Louis Stowe · Dec 08, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Football Manager 2017 isn't a revolutionary update to the series, but it's the best in a good number of years. The new match engine is such a huge improvement and the AI enhancements add to the overall feeling that this is the most realized football management game yet, feeling more realistic than ever before.
Chris Wray · Nov 26, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Football Manager 2017 is not a game of revolution, but one of refinement. Transfers are smarter and more involved, and the faster player development and the aforementioned streamlining of information are welcome. The perennial strengths of Football Manager are stronger than ever, yet it’s the furtive improvements to the match engine that really set Football Manager 2017 apart from its immediate predecessor.
Richard Wakeling · Nov 22, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Football Manager 2017 is more of the same, just bigger, better, and more refined. For many, that is exactly what the series needed.
Shubhankar Parijat · Nov 15, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - This is a simulator of epic proportions. It offers unparalleled realism, retaining the great qualities of past versions while adding an additional layer of balance and true-to-life managerial elements. It's guaranteed to stick long in the memory, as team talks, highlight reels and press conferences populate your daydreams for the next year. Watch out, it will take over your life.
Fraser Gilbert · Nov 11, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The greatest strength of Football Manager 2017 is that it removes the barriers between you and those stories. There is less time wasted clicking through menus and less occasion for you to feel like a loss is a result of something you forgot to do, rather than something you can accept as your own mistake. It’s far from revolutionary, but it is a very well refined version of Football Manager that empowers the player by putting all the information you need at your fingertips.
Paul Walker-Emig · Nov 04, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - This is all part of Football Manager’s considerable charm. The standard Career mode is as complex and accomplished as ever – although some of you might worry about the lack of real changes since last year’s outing – and a fairly recent addition, Fantasy Draft, is a superb way to kill a few hours with a friend online, pitting you against each other following a lengthy draft on a set budget.
gamesTM · Dec 29, 2016 Reviewed on PC - Sports Interactive must be commended on doing a really excellent job in finessing not just the contents - old and new - but the UI, to a level where it's not only less taxing to navigate, but elevates the overall experience and enjoyment of the game.
Michael Whittaker · Nov 25, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - In summary, I’m delighted to report that FM 2017 is a return to form for the series, delivering marked improvements over FM 2016 which wasn’t actually that bad itself, in all fairness. The game is as deep and engaging as ever, with a corrected match engine and a host of tactical and statistical improvements that I found deliver a lot of value
Matthew Smail · Nov 14, 2016 Reviewed on PC - The really frustrating thing about Football Manager 2017 – and again this goes for most yearly sequels – is that because it is very slightly better than last year’s game that means this is technically one of the best management sims ever made. If this happens to be your first one it’s going to seem amazing (assuming you’re prepared for the graphics) and you won’t understand what any of the complaints about.
