  • I’m really glad that a game like Disc Jam has released and has as much polish as it does. I think they went a little overboard with the cosmetics and not enough on character variety, but those minor things that I can overlook since the core of the gameplay don’t rely on those things. It a great game that I could easily recommend on any platform as long as you use a controller.

  • Disc Jam offers the ideal balance of simplicity and depth you’d want from an arcade-like sports experience. The action is fast and matches often tense but sadly the overall package is let down by some rougher edges and gross microtransactions. Windjammers might still reign as king of the fake Frisbee-style sports genre but Disc Jam is a decent enough imitation for the Nintendo Switch.

  • The online play is wonderfully challenging and the offline play is deeper and more complex than we would perhaps ever have expected. The characters are diverse enough to fit any personal playstyle, and the various cosmetic items add an extra dimension of personalisation to proceedings. In short, it’s exploding frisbee-tennis, what’s not to love?

  • The Ghost Arcade is the best mode aside from online play, and while it’s nice that it’s there, it’s just the same thing with an offline hat. On the bright side, online runs very well and thanks to cross-play with PC, the player base should stay strong for a while. The disc-throwing action is very fun, but with limited ways in which to do it, Disc Jam is a one-trick sport.

  • Disc Jam is in an interesting place. It has the solid foundation for a classic game in the same vein of Rocket League. The characters are fun, the gameplay is competitive and addicting, and it keeps bringing you back for more. But it’s hard it ignore what’s not there. The arena doesn’t feel stale to me yet, but aft

  • Disc Jam is a good attempt at combining multiple sports inspirations into a video game, and for the most part Disc Jam achieves this by delivering a solid competitive experience with simple mechanics. The only things that I feel let this game down are its lack of real differentiation between playable character and lack of court designs. The game is good, but it feels a bit simple and safe.

  • The audio and visuals get boring fast, but at its core Disc Jam has addictive, solid gameplay, and with competitive cross-platform play, it’s definitely worth a crack if you like the idea and want a break from Rocket League.

  • Disc Jam neither insults or excels in Switch game’s library and what it does, it does so in solid fashion. It is fast, fun, easy to pick up and hard to master, but as previously stated elsewhere on this review it lives or dies by its community. But the solid foundation for a great competitive eSport is already in place. Pick this up without fear if you know you have friends with whom you'd like to compete. Otherwise you might want to keep a lookout from the sidelines to see how it all plays out.

  • There is a quality nucleus buried inside Disc Jam, covered up with a disappointing offline component and a lack of variety in general. The rules and mechanics provide a strong foundation, but more content (characters, courts, and modes) and more polish will be necessary to make the next big leap. Perhaps, as was the case for Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Disc Jam is just a few years and a few tweaks away from something special.

  • You can play either single-player matches or double up with a friend and take on another pair. However, beyond that there's not much more to it at the moment, and this results in Disc Jam feeling a little one dimensional at launch. No doubt the plan is to add more courts, more characters, and more modes to the game now that it's out in the wild, and High Horse certainly needs to do that if they're going keep the game alive beyond the first couple of months.
