10. Mini Tennis: Perfect Smash

We open this list with a mobile game full of smashing, but not in the kind of crossover fighting way we expect. This…is just Tennis. If all you want is a little back and forth with an opponent, then you’ll find that here. Plus, there’s a boatload of extra features that will make it worthwhile to grind to the top. Like gear upgrades and a lot of customization options. So take that racket and get ready to smash.

9. orange (game)

A minimalist puzzle game that clearly loves Orange. Whether it’s the fruit, or the color, we are not so sure. Squeeze out that brain juice and fill the entire screen with as much orange as you can. With over 50 levels to choose from, it can go from downright simple, to a mess that leaves a sour tang in your mouth. Just relax or maybe grab a glass of orange juice while you’re solving these pesky challenges.

8. Punch Kick Duck

A fighting game that explains it all in its title. Just remember three words: Punch, Kick and Duck. PUNCH beats KICK, KICK beats DUCK and DUCK beats PUNCH. It’s not that hard to memorize since it gets drilled into your mind as you play. Face off against a gauntlet of enemies that, with strengths and weaknesses, can still be defeated with the same three moves. It’s more than just a battle of reflexes, but wits too. Focus is key.

7. Rocco's Island: Pocket Edition

A fantastic puzzle game with a gorgeous art style. Embark on a race against time and find out the mystery behind this doomed world. This pocket-sized version of Rocco’s Island still has the same story as the original, but it’s built around your iPhone’s portability. So you can do some brain-teasing match three puzzles anywhere you go.

6. Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On!

If you think this is a game about horse-racing, you’re both right and wrong. It is about horses racing to the finish line, but it’s also about Solitaire. Combining the classic card game with competitive jockeys is a weird twist. But we’re welcoming it anyway. Boost your prized racehorse by playing Solitaire as fast as you can to give them the energy to win the race. Don’t think too hard on this one, it’s really simple.

5. Brotato: Premium

Of all the games on this list, Brotato is the best game to play on the go. As a potato, gear up with six unique loadouts and fend off as many aliens as you can before help arrives. There’s really nothing too grand about it, really. It’s a straightforward game where you just watch your damage and enemy numbers go up. You don’t even have to shoot, the game auto-fires for you. You simply have to aim and let your fingers do the rest.

4. Ace Racer

Next up is this racing game where you can soak in neon and bathe in the life of futuristic luxury. It’s not all about that cyberpunk aesthetic, though. It also has cars from real-life renowned vehicle manufacturers like Porsche and Nissan. Each roaring engine has its unique skills too. So choose from its impressive selection of 100 cars and put them to the test in a variety of racetracks.

You’ll also be taking down bosses and gearing up for the next horde. It’s this rinse-and-repeat process that can only get better with upgrades that will make surviving a breeze.

1. TMNT: Shredder's Revenge

This mobile release is powered by Netflix Games, so you’ll need to have a Netflix account to play. Whether with friends in online multiplayer, or solo, you can go on a rampage and stop Shredder’s goons from taking over the city. But if you want maximum brawler fun, playing with friends is the way to go.

10. Shoulders of Giants

Of all the roguelikes that came out so far, this is the first one that lets you play as a Frog riding a sword-fighting Robot. Shoulders Of Giants’ vibrant display of colors matches the intensity of its gameplay. It drops you off into a planet with nothing but alien threats trying to kill you. Think Risk of Rain, but less about the multiple characters and more of this 2-in-one hero. Collecting power ups and surviving the onslaught of enemies is what it’s all about and that guarantees hours and hours of fun. It has a playscore of 8.42.

9. Like a Dragon: Ishin!

Everything we know about the Yakuza series is turned upside down in this crazy spin-off. This Remake came out exclusively in Japan 9 years ago on the PlayStation 3. Since its worldwide release, it has gone a long way from home. Taking place in late Edo Period Japan, Like A Dragon Ishin won’t let you fight with just your fists. Instead, you’ll balance your mastery with sword and guns. It still has that Yakuza spirit: wild, zany and catches you off guard with its unpredictability.

8. Sifu

One of the most satisfying brawler games in a long time. Sifu’s violent delights offer non-stop action. It won’t be easy though. Patience is required for its challenging combat and mechanically-demanding difficulty. Overall, it’s a tight action game with snappy controls. Making punches feel like punches, and hits feel like actual smacks to the face. Released a year before on other consoles, Sifu finally made its way to Xbox this year and it came with an extra Arena mode for some arcade fun.

7. Dredge

A fishing game with a supernatural twist. Sail your hearty steamboat and find the biggest fish you can catch in this vast aquatic expanse. Yep, Dredge is a game that truly appeals to the male fantasy. But Dredge isn’t just a fishing game. Its strange lovecraftian design are a welcome distraction from its addictive mechanics. The terrors of the deep are out there, and its madness slowly seeps into you. One minute you're trudging through the waters, and the next you’re running for your life from god knows what that thing is.

6. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition

If you’re a sucker for nostalgia, this Definitive Edition of Age of Empires II has everything you need. It’s just like the original, with better visuals and a ton of quality of life improvements on the Xbox Series X and S. Its most noteworthy addition is co-op and, for longtime players, it’s a game-changer.

5. Hogwarts Legacy

The magic of Hogwarts is still here and now it’s a full videogame where we can be our own spellcasting student. From the very halls of Hogwarts, to the bustling streets of Hogsmeade. Hogwarts Legacy’s fantasy world is finally ours to explore. Take on magic classes, face off against ferocious beasts and save the Wizarding World from total annihilation. Just like any typical Hogwarts student does before they graduate. It’s a fantastic open-world experience and easily a strong contender for Game of the Year.

4. Hi-Fi RUSH

A hack and slash rhythm game is a mix we never thought possible. Hi-Fi RUSH’s energetic combat is complemented by its vibrant cel-shaded art style. With all that combined, it almost feels like a PlayStation 2 game. It was lauded mainly for its gameplay and also its overall tone. It’s not a lengthy game. Turning this already great action title into a jam-packed adventure that doesn’t overstay its welcome.

3. Dead Space (2023)

This Remake of the 2008 survival horror classic is full-on horrifying. Isaac Clarke’s slow descent to madness comes with all the modern upgrades. From improved lighting, to better shooting, and redesigned Necromoprhs. It’s a fantastic Remake through and through, and now that it’s been out for a couple of months, everyone’s just waiting for Dead Space 2.

2. Persona 4 Golden

A quaint rural town, catchy Japanese tunes and high school friendship is a recipe for disaster in Persona 4 Golden. Now finally out on Xbox consoles, this award-winning JRPG is now available for all to enjoy… and cry to. Its intricate murder mystery story is balanced with its well-written character arcs and Persona’s traditional turn-based combat. Although not as flashy as the newer titles, Golden still shines bright with a playscore of 9.13.

1. Resident Evil 4 (2023)

CAPCOM keeps cooking the good stuff and their recent serving is none other than this remake of the 2005 GameCube classic. Resident Evil 4 2023 is a major achievement for remakes. It turns everything up to eleven, all while retaining the original’s best moments. Leon’s roundhouse kicks, Ashley’s screaming, and the flesh-eating Las Plagas are still around to keep you on your toes. Anyone up for some bingo?

Best Series X|S Games of 2023 (First quarter)

Indie stealth horror game Gravewood High will graduate from Early Access mode this May.

HeroCraft PC, the developer and publisher behind the game, has just announced that the official release on PC for both Steam, Humble Store, and the Epic Games Store is set for May 3, 2023, signaling the end of its Early Access phase.

After nearly two years in Early Access, the Cyprus-based studio is preparing to release this adventure-horror game's full version later this year. As if that was not enough to send shivers down the spine, they have also released a new Gravewood High trailer on YouTube.

The video, which ran for roughly a minute, showed glimpses of a new location. It also gave players a sneak peek at what a stronger and more formidable Mr. Hyde, the antagonist, would look like.

In a press release, HeroCraft PC confirmed that the full release of Gravewood High would include a new map, a mystery area, and a tougher Mr. Hyde. Mr. Hyde will have improved abilities, and include a few little helpers to make your adventure more challenging, they wrote.

Players can expect other additions once the full version goes live. Developers said there would be new classrooms, dungeons, and an origin story for Mr. Hyde. HeroCraft PC also added a new power, teleportation, and a choice-based finale. There are two different endings, which will depend entirely on your choices, they described.

Gravewood High features an AI-enabled opponent and a dynamic environment in which the school's interiors are constantly changing. In it, players need to figure out why several students at the titular school went missing. They must look for clues, answers, and a way out. At the same time, they must avoid the 'crazed' teacher, Mr. Hyde.

Upon its release in 2021, the game received mixed reviews from gamers. Some players praised its atmosphere and story. Others criticized its poor quality-of-life and bug-riddled mechanics. / ###

Gunfire Reborn's scheduled PlayStation launch came months after it was ported to the Xbox Series and Xbox One in October 2022. The FPS game first went live on PC in 2020. At that time, it was still in Early Access mode. It took developers from Hong Kong's Duoyi Network over a year to launch the full version.

Due to its popularity, developers decided to expand its player base. They also released Gunfire Reborn on Android and iOS devices in May 2022. On the other hand, 505 Games confirmed that development for a Nintendo Switch version is still ongoing. However, more details about its release have yet to be made public.

Developers from Duoyi cited the hit adventure FPS titles Borderlands and Enter the Gungeon as their inspirations for the game. Upon its release in 2020, Gunfire Reborn gained "generally positive reviews" from PC and Xbox players.

Gunfire Reborn Takes Aim at PlayStation: Release Date Unveiled

MISTROGUE: Mist and the Living Dungeons has started welcoming players as it launches its Early Access mode.

Developer Polyscape Inc. released MISTROGUE: Mist and the Living Dungeons in Early Access on April 24. Players can download the roguelike action game on Steam. MISTROGUE is the first major project for Polyscape Inc., an indie gaming studio based in Japan.

According to Polyscape Inc., MISTROGUE is designed to have a different take on the dungeon-crawling genre.

The action roguelike game lets players take control of a treasure hunter named Mist. As Mist, they will explore and ultimately survive a world with "living dungeons." Developers explained that players need to rely not only on their skills but also on their ability to adapt to the ever-changing environment.

The key to survival will be your adaptability to ever-changing situations... Players must not let their guard down, wrote Polyscape Inc. The "living dungeons" in the game are characterized to respond to the players' actions. They may encounter bridges suddenly collapsing and floors moving in different directions. They can also get surprise visits from enemies, the developers added.

The 'living dungeons' will respond to Mist's actions and generate gimmicks and obstacles in real-time, Polyscape Inc. said.

Like all dungeon-crawling titles, MISTROGUE has its share of monsters. Players will also have to face them as they try to grapple with their surroundings coming to life.

Polyscape Inc. first revealed the development of MISTROGUE: Mist and the Living Dungeons to the public in August 2022. A few months later, they conducted Pre-Alpha Tests. Developers also launched a limited demo and KickStarter versions of the game.

7. Tales of Symphonia Remastered

The Tales series continues to shine over the years. With this Remaster, the age old classic returns to modern audiences. 20 years was a long time ago, and to be honest, Symphonia definitely shows its age. A lot of work was put into its polish, but it just can’t keep up with today’s demands. Nonetheless, anyone deep into the Tales lore can find something to come back to.. Whether it’s your first time or not, this grand JRPG adventure still holds up. If you ignore its technical hiccups.

6. SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake

Spongebob’s been around longer than most kids on the internet right now. And it’s a great surprise to see he’s back for more games. The Cosmic Shake doesn’t really change the formula of their 3D platformers. However, with the technology to back it up, the game has a lot more detail. Making it a more colorful Bikini Bottom adventure.

5. Fire Emblem Engage

The latest Fire Emblem to hit the market. Engage continues the series’ ‘engaging’ turn-based gameplay, now with a handful of new tweaks. The ability to summon past Fire Emblem heroes into battle isn’t just great fanservice, it’s also a neat mechanic overall. You don’t have to play the previous games to enjoy this. Like all Fire Emblem titles, this comes with a standalone story, with just a few callbacks and easter eggs to surprise longtime fans. Much of the criticism was for its barebones plot and underdeveloped social elements. Two big reasons for the success of the previous Fire Emblem game, Three Houses. Even with all that, if you’re a big FE fan, those issues may not even matter.

4. Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe

The big return of Nintendo’s pink alien ball…isn’t exactly new for old fans of the series. Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a Remake of the 2011 Wii U title. Kirby’s ever powerful mouth can copy new and returning abilities! If you missed out on Kirby’s epic quests before, this version offers a lot of platforming goodness…and more. For starters, the improved 1-4 player couch co-op lets you team up to three friends to venture out into the world. It’s a game built around teamwork and what better nightmare for enemies than Kirby’s mouthfuls.

3. OCTOPATH TRAVELER II

The sequel to Square Enix’s beloved 2.5D JRPG. Octopath Traveler II continues the series’ multi-character narrative. Taking you into the lives of eight unique individuals, each unpacking their own trauma and motivations. This sequel not only improves on its character interactions, but also its combat. Enemy encounters aren’t as tedious as the original and the traditional turn-based mechanic is more intuitive. It’s considered one of the early contenders for the best games of this year with a playscore of 8.92.

2. THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE

A Final Fantasy rhythm game for anyone interested in the breadth of music the series has. Originally a 3DS classic, The Final Bar Line is the definitive way to experience this celebration of Final Fantasy music. With over 380 songs to choose from, including songs from newer FF titles, there’s more fun and variety to be had for the fans of the series. Even if you’re not into FF music, you might have already heard of classics like One Winged Angel. It’s not just for Final Fantasy enthusiasts. It’s for anyone who enjoys great video game soundtracks.

1. Metroid Prime Remastered

Taking the crown for the best Nintendo Switch game so far is none other than Metroid Prime Remastered. Samus Aran returns in the same adventure she had two decades ago. The only difference is the polished visuals. It’s a surprise the Nintendo Switch can run a game as good-looking as this. It’s a complete retread of the original, but with a few bonus content that might encourage fans to push their speedruns by a mile. It is a fantastic Remaster that touches up the original without removing its soul. Now fans are anticipating more Metroid Prime Remasters before Metroid Prime 4 comes out.

Torchlight: Infinite, its first cross-platform title, will debut worldwide.

The publisher and developer from XD Games announced they would launch Torchlight: Infinite globally on May 9. This development came months after they launched an open beta and Early Access mode on Steam.

XD Games also revealed that they would introduce new content to mark a new milestone. These included a hero called Escapist Bing, during Torchlight: Infinite's release. Escapist Bing is described as an "unpredictable troublemaker."

[He] adds some serious boom to the RPG's character roster, beguiling his foes with a blinding barrage of bombs, the developers added.

Torchlight: Infinite is also set to welcome players with its first season titled Cube of Rapacity. The new season launch will provide a perfect entry point for those new to the game while enticing hardened Hunters to check out what's changed since open beta, XD Games said.

Once the game launches its full version this May, players can expect major changes in it, developers added. These included an overhaul in its crafting mechanics and a new 'Guild' feature. Creators have also added higher damage limits, and improvements on Pactspirit, to name some.

Torchlight: Infinite is the fourth title under the hit Torchlight series. The first installment came out in 2009. Travil Baldree and Diablo co-designers Max Schaefer and Erich Schaefer created it.

Baldreee and the Schaefers also co-founded the now-defunct Runic Games to develop Torchlight. After the game's critical and commercial success, they released Torchlight II in 2012. In 2010, Perfect World Entertainment bought a majority stake in Runic Games. Seven years later, the Chinese mass media company closed the studio.

Perfect World launched Torchlight III in 2020. Unlike its predecessors, the game got a lukewarm reception from gamers and critics alike.

Developers have yet to reveal details, including tentative release dates. However, they said they would welcome players to try the game later this year for a closed beta test.

Deceit, the original game, requires players to use strategic thinking and social deduction to escape three zones populated by innocent and infected players. They must use their wits to figure out who among them is infected, while the infected must deceive and eliminate the innocents without being detected.

Our strong partnership with our investors allows us to continue forward with our development vision and increase staffing resources as we near the launch of Deceit 2, said Thompson. World Makers has already opened positions for various departments working on Deceit 2. The move has been well-received by investors from Makers Fund, who are backing the game's development.

We can't wait to bring Deceit 2 to a global PC and console audience, as well as exciting future titles from World Makers, said Archie Stonehill, an investor at Makers Fund.

Deceit 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to the 2017 horror-deduction game Deceit. Unlike its predecessor, the upcoming game will be designed to support cross-platform play. It will also be World Makers' title to get ported to consoles.

Deceit 2 will feature brand-new gameplay mechanics to allow for a "more tense and suspicious atmosphere," developers described. [It] will be a rich social deception sandbox that will connect players on PC and console via crossplay, they added.
