Calling all cultists and headbangers! The award-winning soundtrack of the hit indie game Cult of the Lamb is getting a... metal version.

Massive Monster, Devolver Digital, and Laced Records have teamed up to release the metal reimagining. The album, called the Hymns of the Unholy, will drop on October 28.

“We’re huge metal fans, and Cult of the Lamb naturally lends itself to the heavy metal genre,” said Jay Armstrong, co-founder of Massive Monster.
Trivium’s Matthew Kiichi Heafy also shared Armstrong’s excitement.

“Collaborating with Massive Monster to turn Cult of the Lamb’s soundtrack into a metal album was incredible. The game's themes align so well with heavy metal that this partnership felt inevitable," said Heafy.

He hoped both fans of the game and the metal genre would love Hymns of the Unholy.

Hymns of the Unholy will be a six-track album that promises a fusion of the game’s dark themes with head-banging metal.

Written, arranged, and produced by Sam George of Pick Up Goliath, it will feature some of metal’s most renowned names. These included vocalists Howard Jones (Light the Torch, Sion, ex-Killswitch Engage) and Matthew K. Heafy (Trivium).

Hymns of the Unholy also features guitarists Scott LePage (Polyphia), Javier Reyes (Animals as Leaders), Josh Baines (Malevolence), Clay Gober (Polyphia), and Sean Long (While She Sleeps) and drummer Mike Malyan (ex-Monuments).

In addition, the lead single, “CULT,” already has an accompanying music video produced by Half Giant animation studio.

Nightdive Studios has launched Killing Time: Resurrected, an HD remaster of the cult-classic 1995 first-person shooter about demonic clowns and ghosts. It is available now on Windows PC and consoles.

This DOOM-like remaster brings back the supernatural thrills, dark humor, and campy full-motion-video sequences that made the original a hit.

The game takes place in the 1930s where players assume the role of a former Egyptology student trapped in a cursed estate. They must navigate a mansion filled with supernatural horrors and find a way to destroy a mystical Egyptian Water-Clock.

This remaster boasts high-resolution character sprites, upscaled textures, smoother gameplay, and modernized controls. Combat is no longer as frustrating as the original.

Players will also experience restored live-action video sequences, offering clues to the eerie events within the Conway mansion. Apart from that, it also comes with support for up to 4K resolution at 144 FPS, enhanced visuals, and no load times between areas. This makes it the definitive way to experience Killing Time.

Devolver Digital subsidiary, Big Fan Games, announces the upcoming release of a new TRON game from Disney. TRON: Catalyst is a new action-adventure game set within the iconic TRON universe.

It is slated for release in 2025 on multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. You can see our 2025 Upcoming Releases blog post for more games scheduled for next year..

Building upon the story of the Arq Grid introduced in TRON: Identity, this new title will bring players back into the digital world with a stylistic isometric experience.

In Catalyst, players don’t assume the role of Jeff Bridges’ Kevin Flynn, instead, they step into the role of Exo, a program equipped with the ability to initiate time loops.

This unique power will be vital as Exo confronts the overlords of a deteriorating Grid while evading Conn, a dangerous agent of the CORE. Despite sharing the same rinse and repeat mechanic from games like Dead Cells and Hades, this is not a roguelike game.

Gameplay will feature a mix of melee and ranged combat on foot and on light cycles. Mastering the Disc unlocks whole new possibilities for gaining the upper hand, making runs easier and adding in a strategic depth in each loop.

Throughout the game, players are encouraged to upgrade Exo’s abilities in order to uncover the cause of a mysterious glitch threatening the Grid. Fans of the series can see the many factions that populate the Grid, as well as the return of familiar faces from the films.

It will not be a TRON game without its energetic soundtrack. Catalyst features original score, promising an immersive experience for fans of the franchise.

The game launches sometime next year. Fans can follow updates from Bithell Games and Big Fan Games or add the game to their wishlist in preparation for its launch.

The demo is available for free until Monday, October 24, 2024. It will give players a glimpse of the game’s combat and creative mechanics that will define the full Early Access release.

The final version will expand on this with additional biomes, new weapons, challenging bosses, and the much awaited three-player cooperative online play.

As an incentive for early participation, players who play with the demo will unlock an exclusive Guinea Pig skin for their character in the Early Access version. Notably, progress made during the demo will carry over to the full Early Access release. This will give players a head start once they return back to the Vortex.

Players can wishlist the game on Steam today and prepare themselves for another potentially addicting roguelike game.

Indie developer Motion Twin, known for its critically acclaimed roguelike Dead Cells, has announced the release of a limited-time demo for their upcoming game Windblown

Dead Cells Creators Launches ‘Windblown’ Demo, Now Available on Steam

Some bittersweet news for fans and players looking forward to experiencing Streets of Rogue 2.

American video game publisher tinyBuild announced that the Early Access launch of the highly anticipated sequel has been postponed.

Developer Matt Dabrowski took to Steam to write more details about their decision to push back its Early Access release. According to Dabrowski, they needed more time to refine not only the game's mechanics. But also its progression system, and address any technical issues.

"Well, the TL;DR is Big Open-Ended Game + Solo Programmer = Unpredictable Timeline," Dabrowski wrote. "At this point in development, I’d consider the game to be a lot closer to being Early Access-ready, as the game’s foundations are pretty solid," he added.

Streets of Rogue 2 was initially scheduled for an Early Access release this October 22. It is the sequel to the 2019 hit, Streets of Rogue.

But Dabrowski said that they still need polishing and bug fixes before rolling out the game. Also, the developer wanted more pre-release community feedback, prompting him to open a playable demo instead.

"Consider this demo to be a fairly rough (but hopefully pretty fun) taste of what’s to come," said Dabrowski.

The demo for Streets of Rogue 2 joins hundreds of other game demos in Steam's Next Fest which started on October 14. It is currently one of the festival's most wishlisted games.

Called "Island Alpha", the demo offers players a sneak peek into the game's open-world chaos.

Players get to explore a small island, separate from the main landmass. Their goal is to take down the local mayor or gain their favor. But, alternative objectives are also available.

It also features a selection of character classes and randomly generated worlds. Dabrowski said mutators may be added before or after release.

While controller support and local co-op are not currently available, they will be added in future updates. Online multiplayer is not supported in the demo, the developer added.

In the meantime, Dabrowski plans to continue updating the demo based on player feedback and changes made to the full game.
