Warframe: Tau will launch in December 2026 as a free update on PC, console and mobile, Digital Extremes announced on October 30. It takes players out of the Origin System to a new star system called Tau.

The studio revealed the update during Devstream 198, its first detailed look at Tau. A second Devstream is set for November 27.

What's in Warframe: Tau

Tau adds a new single-player cinematic quest and a new Star Chart. It launches with two locations. The first is Perita, a war-ravaged moon with a revamped Survival mission. The second is Fornax, a mob-run ring city.

Fornax is home to MANIFOLD 90-BF, a new social hub. On Perita, players will meet The Cleaving Glaive, a new allied Syndicate.

Digital Extremes says Tau will grow with later updates. The Old Peace update in December 2025 showed players what the Tau system used to be like.

Brysko, the 67th Warframe

Brysko is the game's 67th Warframe and the main character of Tau's quest. Matthew Mercer voices him, and the character draws on detective noir.

He fights with a Hound companion and the Rain & Shine fist weapons, and his Exalted weapon is a magnum called Corecracker. Players can unlock him instantly from the Warframe Market or earn him through gameplay. He also introduces a new type of cosmetic called the Chimera Skin.

New cosmetics

Koumei is getting her first Deluxe Skin, Koumei Enshoujo, which arrives alongside Tau in December. Nezha's Heirloom Skin is due in early 2027.
