You no longer need an invitation or a Founder pack to play the fantasy game from the Warframe studio. Sign up at soulframe.com and download its launcher.
Digital Extremes opened Soulframe Open Preludes to all Windows PC players on November 6, according to the official Soulframe site. Before that, the alpha test was invite-only, and new players were mostly let in around TennoCon each year, Polygon reports. It's not on Steam yet, but Digital Extremes says you can wishlist it there to follow its development.
What is Soulframe?
Soulframe is a free-to-play open-world fantasy adventure. Digital Extremes calls it a sister project to Warframe. Warframe is a fast sci-fi shooter, and Soulframe instead leans on themes of nature and restoration. You play as an Envoy cleansing the land of Alca of corruption.
According to Digital Extremes, you can redeem corrupted Omen Beasts, rescue captured wildlife and forge Pacts with forgotten Ancestors to use their abilities. You can also team up in a party of up to four players across the overworld and dungeons. Paying for a Founder pack is still optional, and it unlocks Pacts and gear right away.
What's still missing before launch
Open Preludes is still a test build. "We're now ready to really refine features like mounts, combat, and more to their optimal form as we continue to work towards a wider public launch," creative director Geoff Crookes said in the announcement.
Mounts aren't in yet. Rideable Omen Wolves arrive with the Verse of the Veilands update later in November, along with progression reworked around reclaiming corrupted regions, Polygon reports.
When does Soulframe fully launch?
There's no release date yet, and no word on console versions. For now, Soulframe is only on Windows PC, through its own launcher.
