Ubisoft has revealed more information about the sequel to its popular online racing game The Crew. The French game publisher and developer announced that they would release The Crew: Motorfest this year.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/the-crew-motorfest/">The Crew: Motorfest</a> is the third installment in <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/ubisoft-ivory-tower/">Ubisoft</a>'s open-world racing series. It will be made available on <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-crew-motorfest/">PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/the-crew-motorfest/">PS5</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/the-crew-motorfest/">Xbox Series X</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/the-crew-motorfest/">PS4</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/the-crew-motorfest/">Xbox One</a>. The developers added that the game could also be played through the cloud via Amazon Luna.

The Crew: Motorfest will take players to the tropical island of O'ahu in Hawaii, Ubisoft said. They also dropped a teaser reveal video a day after making the announcement. It showed some of the progress developers had made, including racing locations. Players can expect to zoom past through the urban jungle of the Hawaiian capital Honolulu and down ashy volcano slopes.

<div class="video-responsive"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xF45nzjSq2E?controls=0" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

The release date for The Crew: Motorfest remains unconfirmed, but Ubisoft has launched the game's closed beta test through its Insider Program. Ubisoft's Insider Program went live on February 1, with a closed beta test divided into four phases. The first phase will only allow PC players 'in order to make quick reiterations.'

Mickael Da Costa, Communications Manager of The Crew, said they would bring in at least 2,000 players for the Insider Program's first phase. <q>(They) are chosen from our most active TC2 (The Crew 2) players. Our objective for this first phase is to aggregate the most relevant feedback and pay tribute to our most engaged players,</q> said Da Costa.

Console owners can access the Insider Program during its final phases. The Crew was first launched in 2014. Its sequel, The Crew 2, came out four years later. Both games achieved commercial success but received a mixed reception from critics and players.

The world design in The Crew was highly praised, but it faced criticism for its online-only feature and a user interface that was deemed confusing by some players.

The Crew: Motorfest is currently being developed by Ubisoft's Lyon-based studio, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/ubisoft-ivory-tower/">Ivory Tower</a>. The developers added that they would release more updates about the game in the coming months. / ###

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/synced/">SYNCED</a>, the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/genre/shooting">looter-shooter</a> game where humans fight against nanobots, has welcomed players for its Open Beta event. Developer <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/next-studios/">NExt Studio</a> and publisher Level Infinite confirmed that the Open Beta for SYNCED went live last December 10, 2022.

The limited event will run until January 15, they wrote in a statement. Creators also dropped a video preview on YouTube, providing gamers a glimpse into its gameplay.

The upcoming game's Open Beta allowed players to access three primary modes for the first time. These are the PvE, PvP, and co-op gameplay. Players can experience SYNCED's Open Beta via Steam or the game's official website.

<q>The game is also available for PC players to pre-download,</q> developers added.

SYNCED is a third-person shooter game that takes players to the post-apocalyptic world of Meridian. The game is set after a technological disaster known as the "Collapse," in which Nanos, also known as nanite machines, have turned against humanity and sought to destroy it. Players must navigate the dangerous world of Meridian and fight against the Nanos to survive.

As part of a group of survivors known as the Runners, players must team up in squads of three to explore the Nano-infested regions of Meridian in search of the valuable Nano-byproduct, Nerva. They must navigate treacherous terrain and avoid danger at every turn to succeed in their mission.

According to the developers, SYNCED will be a new and unique approach to the third-person looter-shooter genre. The game will let players to synchronize with deadly Nanos, allowing them to turn their enemies into allies. Defeated Nanos can be reprogrammed to serve as the players' guardians, the developers explained.

NExt Studio, the Shanghai-based independent game developer behind the hit horror narrative game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/unheard/">Unheard</a>, first released details about SYNCED last year.

Last September 2021, they invited selected players from Europe and North America for the game's limited Advance Alpha test. At that time, it was tentatively named SYNCED: Off-Planet.

SYNCED Welcomes Players for Its Open Beta

Hideo Kojima's action game, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/death-stranding/" title="Death Stranding on the PlayStation 4">Death Stranding</a>, is getting a sequel.

The renowned video game creator, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/kojima-productions/">Kojima Productions</a>, formally announced at The Game Awards 2022 that work has begun on <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/death-stranding-2/">Death Stranding 2</a>.

Developers have yet to disclose its release date. However, they revealed that the game would debut on PlayStation 5. Kojima Productions also unveiled its teaser trailer during <a href="https://thegameawards.com/">The Game Awards 2022</a>. The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAB___ZxgmM">video</a> showed Norman Reedus and Lea Seydoux reprising their roles as Sam Porter Bridges and Fragile, respectively.

Like its <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/death-stranding/" title="Death Stranding on PC">predecessor</a>, Hideo Kojima took the helm in developing Death Stranding 2. He will serve as the upcoming game's producer, writer, designer, and director, the gaming studio said in a separate statement.

Hideo Kojima also attended The Game Awards 2022, which culminated on December 8. After presenting the trailer, he shared more details about Death Stranding 2's development. Kojima told the audience that he began writing the story for Death Stranding 2 a few months after the release of the first game. However, he said he had to rewrite "the whole thing from scratch" when the pandemic hit.

<q>I also don't want to predict more futures so I rewrote it,</q> Kojima added in jest. The Japanese game designer also said that, in addition to Death Stranding 2, he is working on a new game.

Before Kojima Productions made their announcement, there were speculations about a Death Stranding sequel. Last May, Norman Reedus told Kentucky-based LEO Magazine that they have "started the second one."

Death Stranding is Kojima's first major project following his highly publicized departure from KONAMI. The game was released first for PlayStation 4 in 2019, it was released on the PC in 2020.

Death Stranding became the title with the most nominations for The Game Awards 2019, including the Game of the Year category. It won the Best Game Direction Award. But it lost the Game of the Year award to <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/sekiro-shadows-die-twice/">Hidetaka Miyazaki's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice</a>.

Death Stranding has playscores 8.7 on PlayStation 4 and 8.8 on the PC.

Death Stranding 2 is Coming to PS5

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/alderon-games-pty-ltd/">Alderon Games</a> has released the second official map of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/path-of-titans/">Path of Titans</a>, the survival game where players become dinosaurs.

The Australian game developer confirmed that Path of Titans' latest update went live last December 7 (Australian time).

The developers said it is also the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/genre/mmo">MMO</a> game's biggest update yet. Alderon Games published an official trailer to mark its launch. With Australian TV personality Robert Irwin as its narrator, it highlighted the game's upcoming map, called Gondwa.

<q>The world of Path of Titans has expanded in many ways, new underwater home caves and quests, new aquatic NPCs, and roosts and cliffs for Thalas to perch,</q> developers described.

The game's creators based Gondwa on the ancient supercontinent Gondwana. Gondwa is an 'island world', and hosts various biomes. These include jagged red rocks, grasslands, salt flats, and deserts, to name a few.

Aside from a new map, players can also start exploring more about the pre-historic world in the Path of Titans as four new dinosaurs. Alderon Games rolled out the first flying and fully aquatic creatures. These are the Thalassodromeus and the Kaiwhekea, respectively.

However, Alderon Games disclosed that in the meantime, characters in Panjura cannot crossover to the new world, and vice-versa, in the game. "We plan on adding this in the future," they said.

While players can move their characters from one map to another on community servers, developers added they may experience "a handful of bugs" in doing so.

<q>We will work on updates and improvements to this system as we work on bug fixes,</q> they explained. Developers also said flyers and swimmers are only limited to the Gondwa map. On the other hand, in its latest update, Alderon has made several quality-of-life improvements to Path of Titans.

These included simplifying the game's entire Waystone system. They revealed that they added some gameplay mechanics to "maintain balance and prevent exploits or abuses."

Development for Path of Titans began in 2019. The game currently supports <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/path-of-titans/" title="Path of Titans on PC">PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/path-of-titans/" title="Path of Titans on PlayStation 5">PS5</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/path-of-titans/" title="Path of Titans on Xbox Series X">Series X</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/path-of-titans/" title="Path of Titans on Nintendo Switch">Nintendo Switch</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/path-of-titans/" title="Path of Titans on PlayStation 4">PS4</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/path-of-titans/" title="Path of Titans on Xbox One">Xbox One</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/android/path-of-titans/" title="Path of Titans on Google Play Store">Android</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/path-of-titans/" title="Path of Titans on Apple App Store">iOS</a>.

Gondwa, Path of Titans' New Map, Goes Live

A fan-favorite character from the hit Ghostbusters franchise is heading to PCs and gaming consoles next year. Game developer <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/illfonic/">IllFonic</a> confirmed that Muncher would appear in <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/ghostbusters-spirits-unleashed/">Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed</a>.

In a press release, the Colorado-based game creator said they are set to unroll the first DLC for the 3D asymmetrical, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/genre/multiplayer">multiplayer</a> game. They have yet to announce specific details about its release. But IllFonic said they will launch it "early the first quarter of 2023."

Muncher will be part of the game's first major update. Players can either take control of this metal-eating ghost or get their hands on him. <q>This fan-favorite is the most requested Ghost IllFonic has received to date,</q> developers said.

Aside from Munch, IllFonic will introduce a new map called The Facility. They have also revealed some information surrounding its lore.

A private investor group decided to buy the defunct health center to reopen it. But spooky activities made it impossible to make progress on their renovation works.

Construction workers no longer want to go back to the property. They discovered something that may explain why it became abandoned.

Jordan Mathewson, the game's design director, said the new map would give players a "more intimate and a creepier" gaming experience.

Mathewson added that gamers can expect <q>varied corridors with medium-sized rooms built stacked up.</q>

<q>There will be some interesting ways to utilize these new areas in this map to each player's, Ghostbuster or Ghost, advantage. We will share more soon,</q> he added.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed launched for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/ghostbusters-spirits-unleashed/" title="Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed PC">PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/ghostbusters-spirits-unleashed/" title="Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed on PlayStation 5">PS5</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/ghostbusters-spirits-unleashed/" title="Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed on PlayStation 4">PS4</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/ghostbusters-spirits-unleashed/" title="Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed on Series X">Series X</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/ghostbusters-spirits-unleashed/" title="Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed on Xbox One">Xbox One</a> last October. The award-winning indie game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/sky-children-of-the-light/">Sky: Children of the Light</a> will debut on PlayStation 4 this month.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/thatgamecompany/">Thatgamecompany</a> confirmed that Sky: Children of the Light will go live on PlayStation beginning this December 6. The Santa Monica-based gaming studio also said the game could support cross-play. This means players can save their progress between mobile and console devices.

<q>PlayStation players can look forward to wandering Sky: Children of the Light's beautiful world, unraveling its history, and forming bonds with other adventurers from around the globe,</q> they added.

Meanwhile, Thatgamecompany also announced that Norwegian singer <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_(singer)">AURORA</a> would headline the game's upcoming virtual concert.

Organizers are expecting more than 4,000 players of Sky: Children of the Light to join the occasion on December 8. They said that the event would be "revolutionary." They added it will be "powered by a proprietary game engine."

Thatgamecompany unveiled its plans to expand Sky: Children of the Light to PlayStation last August. Their announcement came a year after they <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/sky-children-of-the-light/">released the game for Nintendo Switch</a>.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/sky-children-of-the-light/">Sky: Children of the Light first came out in 2019 for iOS devices</a>. A year later, they <a href="https://whatoplay.com/android/sky-children-of-the-light/">welcomed Android players into the Realms</a>. The game received positive reviews and even multiple awards and accolades.

Apple gave Sky: Children of the Light the 2019 iPhone Game of the Year award. Its developers also received the Game Developers Choice Awards 2020 a year later. Google also named it the Play Store's Best Indie Games of 2020.

Since its launch in 2019, Sky: Children of the Light has generated over 160 million downloads.

<q>(And now, we will) welcome millions more players when it launches on PlayStation on December 6,</q> said developers.

Japanese game developer and publisher <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/mutan/">MUTAN</a> has rolled out its latest party fighter game Goonya Monster. The Tokyo-based gaming studio announced during the INDIE Live Expo Winter that Goonya Monster went live on December 4. Gamers can access the 3D action platformer on <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/goonya-monster/">PC via Steam</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/goonya-monster/">Nintendo Switch</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/goonya-monster/">PlayStation 5</a>.

The core of Goonya Monster's gameplay still takes a cue from Goonya Fighter, MUTAN's first multiplayer action game. Players engage in a "fast-paced, rampage battle" to win against opposing players.

MUTAN has tapped several superstars in Japan's creative industry for their latest game. It featured illustrations by Terada Tera, a Japanese illustrator who brought the chibi characters to life. In addition, the game features famous Japanese voice actors such as Shiori Izaqa, Rikako Aida, Nogami Sho, Fairuz Ai, and Tomokazu Sugit.

<q>Terada Tera's iconic art style combined with the musical talents we've partnered with is (sic) a perfect match for a party game,</q> Hiroyuki Watanabe, CEO of MUTAN, said in a statement.

The studio also partnered with Japanese rock bands SAKANAMON, FAKE TYPE, and Cho Gakusei to create custom avatar skins.

A group of players will be transported to an asymmetric 3v1 gameplay in Goonya Monster. Three will become the Busters. The remaining fourth player, meanwhile, will take on the role of the Monster.

To win as Busters, players must collect all souls. In soul-harvesting the undead, they can arm themselves with various weapons, such as shotguns, lasers, flamethrowers, and landmines.

The Monster, on the other hand, must stop the Busters from completing their mission. They also need to steal back the souls the enemies have gathered. Players can aim their huge laser beams and send waves of minions to stop Busters from bringing back their dead teammates.

Goonya Monster currently costs US$19.99. To mark its launch, developers have dangled a 10 percent discount for players.
