<a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/krafton/">Krafton Inc</a>, the creator of the hit battle royale game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/android/pubg-mobile-new-map-livik/">PUBG</a>, will release a new title next month. And this time, it will combine tower defense elements with a new genre.

The South Korean developer announced they will launch <a href="https://whatoplay.com/android/defense-derby/">Defense Derby</a> globally on August 3. Defense Derby can be played on iOS and Android phones, they said.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/risingwings/">RisingWings</a>, a Krafton subsidiary, is developing Defense Derby. To celebrate the official release, developers will roll out additional content. These are "Quest Mode" and enhanced Friendly Derby and spectator features.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/defense-derby/">Defense Derby</a>'s launch will also mark Krafton's foray into a new genre called "betting royale." The upcoming mobile game will combine tower defense and betting royale elements.

In the betting royale, each round begins with a "scouting stage." It lets players outbid each other in recruiting units needed to assemble their squads, Krafton described.

Players then must strategically deploy them within their castles. The developers added that the last player standing, with their castle intact, will emerge as the winner.

<div class="video-responsive"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/uYaRkf8BvY8" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

<q>We are eager for players to engage with the innovative 'Betting Royale' genre this August,</q> said Rafael Lim, Senior Head of the Publishing Business Division at Krafton.

Aside from the betting royale mechanics, Defense Derby will also contain other modes. These included dungeon, PvE Defense, and idle defense modes. Developers will also introduce a "Friendly Derby," where players can team up with friends.

According to Krafton, Defense Derby had a successful soft launch in six countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Canada, and Hong Kong.

Developers also said they had garnered positive feedback from players during the game's soft launch.

Meanwhile, Krafton has kicked off pre-registration for Defense Derby and will remain so until its official launch. They said pre-registered users will receive a "Welcome Package" filled with in-game bonuses at launch.

GambitGhost Studio just launched the Beta version of Farsiders.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/farsiders/" title="Farsiders for PC">Farsiders</a> is a top-down, hack-and-slash RPG set in a stylized, futuristic cyberpunk world. Farsiders places players in the shoes of its female protagonist, Cassie, a member of a special force called Spectralon. As Cassie, they need to fight against the Soul Syndicate, a terrorist group notorious for using dark magic.

The game's story starts when Cassie encounters the leader of the Soul Syndicate. As a result, the players will be transported into a mythical realm called Camelot. According to the developers, Farsiders will feature real-time <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/hack-and-slash/">hack-and-slash</a> combat, movement, and spell casting.

Players can use various weapons and collect spell cards that grant them different abilities and effects. They can also combine spell cards to create their builds and playstyles.

Farsiders' entire storyline consists of six acts. For the Beta version, however, GambitGhost Studio will only release the first five acts.

The final and sixth act will be released as a free update later. Developers explained that the decision would allow them to deliver a "polished and stable" gaming experience.

They added that this approach will allow them more time to address player concerns effectively.<q> By staggering the release of Act 6, we can ensure that the game's overall stability is maintained, and any potential issues or bugs are resolved,</q> the studio said.

Aside from Act 6, developers also plan to add more features to the game after its release. These included more difficulty levels, localization options, and save slots.

New Indie RPG Farsiders Gets Beta Launch

PC players can now experience the popular space-themed platformer mobile game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/space-expedition/" title="Space Expedition for PC">Space Expedition</a>.

Developer <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/mobirate/">Mobirate</a> dropped the PC version of <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/2353730">Space Expedition via Steam</a> on July 17. The Florida-based studio has also decided to launch the game for free following its decade-long success.

<q>Originally released 10 years ago, Space Expedition has captivated the hearts of countless players worldwide,</q> developers said.

Space Expedition first came out for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/android/space-expedition/" title="Space Expedition for Android">Android</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/space-expedition/" title="Space Expedition for iPhone">iOS</a> devices in 2014. Since then, it has already amassed over 1 million downloads, according to Mobirate.

Aside from porting Space Expedition to the PC, Mobirate also revealed the development of a sequel. Titled <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/genopanic/">Genopanic</a>, the studio will release the game on PC via Steam on October 23.

Developers described Genopanic as a "mysterious cosmic adventure" game. They added that it combines classic platforming elements with a dark and non-linear story. Genopanic follows the events of the Space Expedition. Like its predecessor, it will feature pixel-art illustrations and platformer mechanics.

<q>Genopanic and Space Expedition are games that immerse players in a beautiful and interconnected world,</q> said Anton Belov, co-founder of Mobirate.

A horrific tragedy occurred on SIMBIRSK space station, where the story takes place. Players will have to explore the station with the help of two AI pets. They are LAIK, a friendly dog, and VOLGA, a mischievous cat-girl.

Along the way, they will encounter adorable and terrifying creatures. Since Genopanic is a non-linear game, players will have the choice to rescue or fight them.

The <a href="https://whatoplay.com/upcoming/" title="List of upcoming games">upcoming game</a> also provides players with various weapons. These include swords, gravity guns, flamethrowers, and challenging boss battles.

Genopanic will also reveal the connection between Genopanic and the Space Expedition. The latter is set in the past on the ZARYA station on the planet Spectr.

Developers confirmed that the game's App Store edition can support third-party controllers. Bugsnax first came out for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/bugsnax/" title="Bugsnax for PS5">PlayStation 5</a> consoles in 2020. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/bugsnax/" title="Bugsnax for PS4">PlayStation 4</a>, PC, and macOS versions were also released simultaneously.
