Due to popular demand, Super Evil Megacorp announced a 4-player couch co-op feature for the award-winning Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate. It arrives during the game’s launch on Nintendo Switch this July 17.

TMNT fans can now gather their family and friends to join in the fun with this all-new multiplayer feature.

In addition to the radical 4-player couch co-op, the upcoming Switch game will also include several upgrades. Among these are enhancements to its graphics, lighting, a richer environment, and improved sound and controls.

This update is exclusively optimized for the platform. This is big news for Nintendo Switch players who find the console's performance lacking.

“Playing together is embedded in the DNA of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle video games and core to SEMC’s mission. With Splintered Fate, we went the extra mile to ensure the co-op feature was available for the Switch immediately at launch. We will continue to listen to the community and improve the game over time based on player feedback.” said Ian Fielding, Studio Head of Super Evil Megacorp.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate blends action-packed gameplay with a nostalgic nod to the series' roots. Players navigate through a series of procedurally-generated levels. Like its roguelike peers such as Hades and Returnal, each level is filled with enemies, traps, and hidden secrets.

As players progress, they can collect and upgrade various abilities and weapons, tailoring their playstyle to suit their preferences. The roguelike mechanics ensure that no two playthroughs are the same. This provides endless replayability and more experimentation for each of the turtles.

Pre-orders for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate are now available at $29.99. Steam players will also be able to enjoy the roguelike adventure when the game hits the platform later this year.

The mission's comeback went live on July 10th as a reimagined version of the quest that first came out 15 years ago.

According to the British game developer and publisher, the revamped quest offers a fresh take on the original challenge.

"Designed for veteran players, the quest’s return for Old School RuneScape brings with it the same attention to detail as its original RuneScape release," said Jagex in a press release. "But with new rewards and improvements for a modern audience," they added.

Players can expect not only battles against dangerous enemies, and unlock valuable rewards. But also a deeper dive into RuneScape lore.

"While Guthix Sleeps" takes players into an epic narrative with the mission to thwart the schemes of a dangerous Mahjarrat. They will also discover an ancient Guthixian Temple. There, within its depths, they can unlock valuable rewards and face off against hordes of Tormented Demons.

The "While Guthix Sleeps" made its debut in 2008 as the first Grandmaster quest for Old School RuneScape. The mission is known for pushing veteran players with complex puzzles and challenging combat. Players can still expect these features in the revamped version, Jagex said.

Players who conquer "While Guthix Sleeps" will be rewarded handsomely. They can also gain access to important in-game rewards and repeatable combat encounters.

The final expansion for the hit strategy title Total War: Pharaohs will launch this month.

SEGA unveiled Dynasties, the last content update for Total War: Pharaohs. It will go live this July 25th and players can get it for free.

Game Director Todor Nikolov, in a press release, confirmed that Dynasties will be the last content update for Total War: Pharaohs.

"While it marks the final content addition for PHARAOH, we view it as a love letter encapsulating our continued passion for this era," Nikolov said.

With Dynasties, players can expect a nearly doubled map size and new playable cultures like Babylon and Troy. The expansion will also introduce a dynasty system for managing an empire's legacy.

The new regions will cover the ancient world from the Aegean Sea to Mesopotamia and down to Egypt itself. It will contain at least 168 new settlements, historical landmarks, and fresh victory objectives. To navigate this sprawling sandbox, it will also have a new feature. Called the Sea Travel Lanes, it will allow players faster naval movement as well as more ambitious conquests.

Dynasties will also introduce four iconic new civilizations. They are Babylon, Assyria, Mycenae, and Troy. Each city will not only have unique campaign experiences. But also renowned historical leaders, diverse armies, and distinct sets of deities to appease.

Players can also choose from an additional 25 minor factions. Each faction has its own story to tell, such as the Aeolians led by the legendary Achilles or the Napata kingdom under the warrior-king Memnon.

On top of these, the Dynasties update will introduce a new feature - managing dynasties. It will allow players to ensure the longevity of their dynasties. They can do this by establishing a family tree or forging strategic marriages. Or they can do battlefield sacrifices and even assassinations.

On the battlefield, Dynasties also adds over 150 new and reworked units. These included cavalry, camel riders, and faction-specific warriors like the elite Guards of Troy. Players seeking a more brutal challenge can activate the optional Lethality modifier. This increases combat deadliness for a more realistic war experience, according to developers.

This upcoming version will feature multiple difficulty levels for selected songs: ideal for players who want to ramp things up for a sweaty session. You can even tune-up with a friend in multiplayer mode and sweat it out together.

As usual, owning this game can get you free 1 month of Just Dance+, Ubisoft’s subscription-based service so you can have more songs to dance to!

Farmagia

Nov 1, 2024

It’s not a Nintendo Switch list without a farming game. Farmagia actually twists the usual ‘tend to your crops’ genre into an interesting JRPG. You not only cultivate plants, but you also tend to a growing army of monsters.

With your swarm of monsters at hand, lead them to battle against a tyrannical ruler. Make friends with various NPCs and work together to save the people of Felicidad. It’s a curious case of using the power of friendship and a green thumb.

Mario & Luigi Brothership

Nov 7, 2024

7 years into the Switch’s lifespan, we get another entry to the Mario series.

Mario and Luigi are back! Nintendo’s dynamic duo returns with a whole new adventure. Brothership takes the iconic brothers into the newest original entry since Paper Jam.

Traverse the sea world of Concordia using their shape-shifting ship. This uncharted territory is home to many challenges that await the plumbers. Work together as bros side by side with new evolved moves.

Antonblast

Nov 12, 2024

After its successful Kickstarter campaign, this action platformer blasts its way to Switch consoles. Antonblast’s explosive presentation is made for players who enjoy chaotic levels and tight platforming controls.

Retrieve Anton’s stolen booze and smash through obstacles, enemies, and bosses using his trusty hammer. Its high-energy gameplay and the 2D retro visuals deliver an experience that feels just like the classic platformers

Dragon Quest III HD-2 Remake

Nov 14, 2024

Square Enix takes the beloved Erdrick Trilogy to new audiences with this reimagining of Dragon Quest III. This HD-2D Remake revitalizes the classic JRPG with gorgeous modern graphics, transforming the 8-bit world into a vibrant 3D environment with a mix of pixel art style.

It combines nostalgia with fresh visuals, making it perfect for both longtime fans and new adventurers.

This is the first of the many Dragon Quest games to get the modern treatment, with Remakes of Dragon Quest I and II also coming next year!

Metal Slug Tactics

Fall 2024

Metal Slug is back but it’s not the same game we grew up with. Tactics twists the heavy-artillery action of the original into a strategy game. It still has that stylized retro look, but the fast-paced combat is now a turn-based experience.

Now you don’t need to run and gun your way to victory. Tactics requires you to use your brainpower to overwhelm your enemies.

This completely new direction is a surprise for old fans of the series. Despite this change, a lot of players are still looking forward to this fresh take on the cult classic.

LEGO Horizon Adventures

Q4 2024

The first Sony game to grace Nintendo consoles. LEGO Horizon Adventures is a bite-sized recreation of Aloy’s journey across post-apocalyptic America. Now transformed into LEGO pieces, explore the machine-filled future and use LEGO’s signature blocks to your advantage.

Build or craft your way across Horizon’s memorable levels. Have a friend tag along in co-op and survive this sci-fi world together.

Stray

Q4 2024

The cute cat game everyone was obsessed with is finally coming to Nintendo Switch after 2 years.

Help this lonely kitten find its way home after being separated from its family. Work your way through a bleak dystopian world teeming with alien bugs and robots. The lack of humanity in its setting is ironic, considering you’re meeting machines with a heart.

Solve puzzles, pounce through rooftops, and make friends in your effort to return home.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed

Q4 2024

The past few years have been great for TMNT fans. This brand-new brawler takes place after the events of the movie Mutant Mayhem and it’s going to be in 3D.

Borrowing from its predecessors, this is a beat ‘em up where you control your favorite turtles. If you’re having a tough time, you can play with friends in two-player coop.

It doesn’t have that retro flair of other titles. Instead, it seems to follow the 3D style of the movie Mutant Mayhem and the Gen Z attitude straight from the movie.

It’s set to release later this year. What concerns me is that there’s still no gameplay footage.

Disney’s Epic Mickey: Rebrushed

Sep 24, 2024

One of the most celebrated Disney platformers on the Wii is finally coming to the Switch and other consoles.

Rebrushed takes all the best of the original and improves it with fresh graphics and gameplay. It sees the return of Mickey Mouse in his surreal adventure to familiar Disney worlds.

With Mickey’s magical paintbrush, he manipulates the world around him by drawing and erasing objects. New movement options like dashing and sprinting make gameplay faster and fresher than ever.

Ender Magnolia: Bloom In The Mist

2024

The Land of Fumes awaits in this brand-new chapter of the Ender series. Taking place in a toxic-shrouded world, step into the shoes of an amnesiac ‘Attuner’ on a quest to recover lost memories and uncover the truth.

The gameplay is a major improvement from ENDER LILIES. Magnolia offers a wide variety of unique skills that cater to each player’s style. Movement is much faster as well, allowing players to navigate around tricky Metroidvania levels with ease.

The game is currently on Steam’s Early Access if you want to give it a try.

MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

2024

The game that took everyone for a ride during June’s Direct. MARVEL vs. CAPCOM is finally back! This collection has everything you need to experience one of the greatest fighting game series ever.

It’s packed with seven hits from our favorite MARVEL vs. CAPCOM games including the elusive first and second entry. This also comes with classic heavy hitters like X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Children Of The Atom, and even the beat ‘em up Punisher game.

Neva

2024

Neva is the latest game from the creators of GRIS. I’m sure this beautiful and emotional adventure will break our hearts just as GRIS did.

Neva is a story of a young girl named Alba and her wolf cub. Their journey unfolds in a world on the brink of decay. They must learn how to work together and overcome traumatic encounters with dark forces.

The game’s combat will be more complicated than in GRIS, but accessible enough for new players. We don’t have an exact release date yet but it’s scheduled to launch sometime this year.

Tails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winter

2024

The Whiskers Of Winter is a sequel to the 2D soulslike about battle-hardened animals. Set in a world blanketed in snow, follow Arlo in his quest to overcome the Dark Wings.

Narrated by Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt of Rivia, this action RPG is home to many fearsome monsters to slay. The lands of the North are a dangerous place. Hunt down giant beasts in challenging 2D combat.

Craft powerful gear and take matters into your own hands as you brave through the wintry realm.

The Plucky Squire

2024

This is one of my most anticipated games of the year. A whimsical action-adventure that creatively blends 2D and 3D gameplays.

The Plucky Squire puts players into the life and adventures of a courageous apprentice knight. Use his powers to leap off the pages of his storybook and into a vibrant 3D world.

This seamless transition from 2D to 3D makes The Plucky Squire’s gameplay a novelty. I’m itching to play it when it comes out later this year.

The Thing: Remastered

2024

A video game adaptation of John Carpenter’s celebrated horror classic. This is a Remaster of the cult-favorite survival horror game from 2002---Universal Pictures’ attempt at making a ‘Resident Evil-like’ horror game.

Nightdive Studios’ takes the reins with this reimagining, preserving its Lovecraftian terrors and remastering it for modern audiences.

It’s expected to release sometime this year.

The game market has changed drastically over the past decade. Instead of buying physical copies, players can now opt to buy games digitally and enjoy games without leaving the comfort of their home.

Of course, aside from buying yourself games, you can also choose to buy games for friends and family. Other digital stores allows you to gift games and other DLC to friends. However, does Epic Games Store have the same option?

Unfortunately, you can’t. Epic Games Store users have been asking about the option to gift games to others for a while. The official site writes:
“Currently, there is no option to gift games to other players in the Epic Games Store.”

Rest assured, other users have been talking about gifting games on the Epic store. It could be a matter of time before the developers come up with a system where users can buy games for other users.

What’s the Closest Thing I Can Do to Getting Someone a Game on Epic Games Store

Though there is no official method gifting games on Epic, you can opt to send money to the person that you want to purchase a game for. That way, they can purchase the game themselves.

If you really want to make it feel like an actual gift, you can secretly log-in to their account, purchase the game, and surprise them with the game already in their library. That is, if you don't mind the moral quandaries.

Other Sites Where You Can Gift Games

Though Epic Games Store still has no gifting option for its users, it’s a common feature for other digital game stores. Steam allows you to gift, not only games, but also DLC and soundtracks—basically, anything in their store—for other people.

GOG.com also supports gifting. All you have to do is add the e-mail address of the person you’re sending the gift to. GOG.com and Steam also give you the option to leave messages and greetings along with your present.

Take note though, for Steam, you’ll have to make sure that the person you’re sending a gift to also has a Steam account, and they have to be a member of your friend list.
