10. Descenders on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

Riding up mountains is one thing. But if you really want that adrenaline rush, the downhill slopes are where it's at, and Descenders has all of that settled for you. With its procedurally generated worlds, this free riding game from RageSquid will let you zoom through the perilous tracks to your hearts content.

Mount your chosen bicycles and dive right into the adrenaline junkie life as you jump over trains or trek through the obstacle-filled forests under the cover of darkness. Choose between their selection of three teams and earn prizes as you lead the way to victory. The more dangerous your stunts, the better your chances of winning those juicy Rep points, and humiliating the other teams.

With their focus on realistic physics, Descenders packs satisfaction in every randomly generated ride. Take your careful slides down the rocky ravines, and live to tell the tale. Beautiful and immersive, it’s set to release on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the Switch sometime in 2018.

9. MV vs ATV ALL OUT on Xbox One, PS4 and PC

The complete off-road racing experience. Go all out with the game’s massive amount of content. Find your riding style, own a private compound and take a ride across massive environments.
8. Steel Rats on PC, Xbox One, and PS4

A completely different way of viewing the racing genre. Dubbed as “Dieselpunk”, TAte Multimedia's Steel Rats showcases a world inspired from the 40’s and 50’s Americana. This 2.5D racer lets you explore a retro-futuristic world where man and machine fight for supremacy. It’s unlike every game on this list since the main controls involve going up, down, left, and right in 2.5D style.

Not much gameplay was shown, but according to early impressions, it’s heavily physics-based. Players need to carefully turn their bikes for perfect flips and badass jumps. Each level is packed with multiple paths to explore, so it feels like three levels are packed in one. Swerve through bustling subways, or go across rooftops. It depends on which path you take.

It’s a small game, but it promises to offer an enjoyable experience. It’s coming this 2018 on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

7. GTR 3

A newcomer in the world of video game development, SimBin UK is taking racing by storm with this revival of SimBin's classic GTR series. From widespread success of their sports car simulator back in the early 2000s, they're revving the series up, offering a brand new simulation experience for the modern age.

With the help of the Unreal Engine 4, this third installment developed by Spiders will look fresher than ever before, hopefully boasting hardcore realism in both graphics and physics. Bask in the dynamism of their new variable time and weather systems as you dash through their delicious-looking environments. As much as they're aiming for a simulation that will appease the veteran racers, GT3 is also looking to bring in casual gamers into the mix, especially in their upcoming console releases.

Having been announced quite recently, there aren't a lot of details to drool over. But, with the successes of Sector3 in their previous titles, we're confident it'll be an exciting release. It's coming to the PC sometime in 2018.

6. The Crew 2 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Conquer sky, sea, and streets with every vehicle you can imagine, and all around the United States. That's the promise of The Crew's latest entry, taking open world motorsports to a whole new level.

While their last title was a little rough on the edges, this new installment aims to silence all doubts and shine like a newly polished gem. Make a splash, glide through the air, and zoom through the tracks with cars, boats, and planes all rendered in beautifully detailed style. With hangars and garages full of realistic vehicles, take your pick from helicopters, buggies, motorcycles, and so much more, as you take trips from the west coast to the east.

A new chance of redemption of The Crew developers, we’re hoping their return will come with improvements on their less than stellar driving physics. Originally slated for an Early 2018 release, it’s premier on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One has been moved up to mid 2018.

5. Antigraviator on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One

Why stay in the realm of physics when you can stay out of it? In this indie racing game from Cybernetic Walrus, travel to the far out future and take a dip into the breakneck speeds of anti-gravity racing. A lot like your favorite podraces, AntiGraviator maintains the futuristic atmosphere with their sleek environments and detailed words.

Take a trip to the year 2210 and jump into the cockpits of their gorgeous collection of cars. It's a bout of high speed mayhem as you choose to race in each of four breathtaking worlds. Like mario kart on steroids, Antigraviator is a game of fierce competition, letting you sabotage the race for your rivals with hovermines, rocket launchers and environmental hazards.

Improve your chances with each hard earned Grav customization, and make your way up the worldwide leaderboards. A fresh new title to scratch your podracing itch, It's set to release on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on the second quarter of 2018.

4. The Karters

Speaking of Mario Kart, this adorable kart racer is crashing into the racing mix with style. Inspired by the crazy antics of Crash Team Racing, Pixel Edge Games is giving a refreshing new take on the genre with all the quirkiness that comes with it.

Packing up the feistiness into one fierce rivalry, join their anthropomorphic heroes as they bump and crash their way to a cartoony victory. While they're not the iconic faces we've come to love, they're every bit as charming with their cutesy looks and spunky personalities. Going by the traditional kart racing, head on to their vibrant tracks and grab any of their 9 killing weapons for a deadly dose of action. Gather your friends round for some splitscreen co-op fun, or take on the global arenas in the online multiplayer.

Loaded with action and excitement for yourself and your friends, it's a game you won't want to miss. It's set to release on the PC in the first half of 2018.

3. Gravel for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4

This is an updated version of God Eater Burst that took over PlayStation Portable during 2010. Serving as a Japanese-release title, it was then released as a bundle to God Eater Rage Burst 2 on the PlayStation with an English localization.

4. DmC: Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition

Ninja Theory’s risky attempt on rebooting the popular Devil May Cry franchise had its fair share of feedback.
It has a playscore of 8.61

3. God Of War III: Remastered

There is no greater vengeance served than Sony Santa Monica’s bald and brooding Demigod. A remastered version from its PlayStation 3 roots, it offers a refined visual experience and amped up frames for that juicy gory kills.

Continuing the events of the second main game, Kratos lays siege on Mount Olympus to remove the Greek Gods from existence. Embrace in its satisfying hack and slash combat that serves as the game’s selling point. Unlock new weapons and magic to dominate known creatures of Greek Mythology. Engage in memorable bosses, poke out a Cyclops’ eye, and bask in the game’s responsive combat system. Its upcoming sequel is something to look forward to.

It has a playscore of 8.75

2. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

From the team that brought us the rebooted Devil May Cry, Ninja Theory takes you to a Celtic Adventure filled with screaming horrors and psychotic dread. This dark fantasy game was recently Awarded for its impressive portrayal by Melina Juergens during last year’s Game Awards. It contains various inspirations from Norse and Scandinavian myth.

Follow Senua in her quest to rid the demons in her head and rescue the soul of her dead lover. Her curse is confirmed to be a metaphor of psychosis, and it’s lauded for its awareness of mental issues. Throughout Senua’s journey, she encounters creatures to fight and puzzles to solve. The game is torn between these two modes. Use your blade to eliminate the creeping darkness, and use your wits to get past complex obstacles.

It has a playscore of 8.85

1. Dark Souls III

Ending the iconic Dark Souls trilogy, Dark Souls III is a hallmark of videogame design and it’s often called out as an inspiration for future “difficult” games with the same gameplay elements. A mixture of action and adventure and hack and slash, step inside a dark world filled with demonic creatures determined to kill you.

The game’s combat is tweaked to cater to a more action-oriented approach when battling monsters. Aside from its absorbing gothic world, it offers a variety of insane boss fights that range from epic to what the fuck. It’s taking the same elements that made the previous games better, and FromSoftware did a good job with this final entry of the series with two additional DLC’s that pack content.

It has a playscore of 9.11

Ranking the 10 best hack and slash video games released on the Sony PlayStation 4. These are top-rated action-based PS4 titles currently available on the PlayStation Store.

Top 10 PS4 Hack & Slash

Whatoplay presents the worst games of 2017 on all consoles. Let’s check them out right now!

10. First on the list is Hello Neighbor

A stealth horror game that aims to showcase the advancement of video game AI. Play as a character determined to find what’s hidden inside their neighbors basement. The story is a little interesting, especially when it’s blended with light horror tropes.

It was clear that it's first 2 Alphas were enjoyable, but the moment the game got released, it threw it all away. It was riddled with bugs and it was unoptimized for a released game. Players who supported the game before the release were greatly disappointed with the lack of surprising features. It’s puzzles also left some players satisfied, with no feeling of reward.

The game is so illogical it lost all its scares and charm. With its advanced AI, it feels like the game took a step backward instead of making a leap towards the future. Goodbye, Neighbor. It has a PlayScore of 6.07

9. DYING: Reborn PSVR

The PSVR was said to be Sony’s next big thing. Unfortunately, for VR in general, it didn’t quite make the impression to most players. Out of the 100 various VR games and over 900 thousand units sold, there’s no guarantee every game they release is critically acclaimed.

DYING: Reborn PSVR was one of their releases. It’s a different game compared to the other DYING: Reborn without the VR tagline. This horror game takes out few of the best moments from the original game and carefully selected one episode for full VR experience. This stupid decision caused the game to flunk with bad scores due to unnecessary cuts, ultimately making it half the game experience.

It had some good moments due to its realistic visuals and enjoyable puzzles. However, it was still marred by its unsatisfying presentation and a dulled down storyline. This game deserves to stay dead. It has a PlayScore of 6.01

8. 1-2 Switch

Ahh, one of the best things about the Nintendo Switch was its collection of promising games. Surprisingly, this game release during Switch’s launch was very disappointing. We get that it’s a demonstration for Nintendo’s new hardware features, but it completely fails due to its shallow and gimmicky elements.

Meant to be played with a friend or two, 1-2 Switch excels at showing the power of the Joy-Controllers. It’s sensitive and really delivers the right feedback to your device. Go toe to toe with players in a Cowboy Gunfight, or try to engage in a magical wizard battle with a friend. The sad thing is, the enjoyment only lasts for about 30 to 50 minutes and you can easily feel the game’s emptiness by then.

It’s quirky, bizarre, cringey and sometimes it goes right, but it’s not worth the full price. It has a PlayScore of 5.88

7. RAID: World War II

A game filling in with the oversaturated co-op shooter market. Set during the time where the Nazi’s are winning the war with etheir massive war machines. Choose between four POW’s with different personalities and skillsets. Team up with a friend or do it alone as you rain down hell on Nazi scum. It’s a budget Wolfenstein, but without the absurd blood, monsters and gore.

But despite its warmongering charm, it doesn’t live up to everyone’s expectations. Sure, it’s fun when played with friends, but there are better games to spend most of your time with. Like PUBG, or Payday. It was obviously rushed due to brain dead AI, bad optimization, and outdated mechanics. In short, it feels like a PlayStation 2 game. It has a PlayScore of 5.80

6. Inner Chains

Another horror game on the list that fails to deliver the right amount of scares and substance. Developed by Telepaths Tree, explore a biomechanical world where humankind is just a small part of a dangerous universe. Your goal is to find the rumored sanctuary is leave this decrepit place once and for all.

But with its immersive world, it is hampered with a monotonous feeling of walking and walking and moooore walking. Everything is static if you ignore the atmosphere and story. Players who supported the game during its Kickstarter days were disappointed. Other notable issues include bugs, texture issues, and SLOW WALKING.

It was a total failure and to this day, there has been no words from the developers. It has a PlayScore of 5.76

5. NBA 2K18

Who would’ve thought that 2K’s latest NBA title would drop the ball so hard? It’s the war against microtransactions and this basketball game was one of the first to get caught in its crossfire. DICE’s Battlefront II was a low blow for consumers and the gaming industry, and looks like 2K decided to make things worse for themselves. This makes Battlefront II less evil compared to the sinister cash-grabbing elements hidden in this game.

For a basketball game, it’s good. It had improved visuals and ball physics. But it’s 2017, players need to create their own journey and that’s where MyPlayer kicks in. Apparently, this simulated version of you is packed with microtransactions you feel unsatisfied if you can’t pay a single penny. Everything good about its customization lies in its sneaky business model. And that is very, very bad.

If you dislike microtransactions, don’t buy this game. It has a PlayScore of 5.62

4. Syberia 3

It was one of the most promising games of this year. Benoit Sokal’s latest adventure doesn’t involve microtransactions, instead it’s just plain old terrible, by terrible we mean boring. Step into the disappointing pilgrimage of Kate as she finds herself into a mysterious island.

It is very hard to play. Steam reviews about the game is filled with Red Thumbs Down’s due to the game’s clunky movement, empty story, and filled with audio/visual bugs. It’s a complete mess, to put it simply. Fans that were itching to play this sequel were left with a bad finished product. If you’re trying to play the today, don’t. It’s in a bad state.

But despite its shortcomings, it really is a beautiful game. The detailed world and graphics absorbs you into Benoit Sokal’s creation. But… unfortunately, that’s all there is. Beneath it all, it’s a game that needs to be fixed to fully enjoy. It has a PlayScore of 5.39

3. Micro Machines: World Series

The classic miniscule racing phenomenon returns! But since this is Whatoplay’s Worst Games of 2017, it is an utter shitshow. To start, it’s filled with game breaking bugs and features microtransactions. The bane of all gamers.

For a racing game, it’s terrible. It has no correct handling and the cars are too small, especially for a miniature game. Fans felt offended since the original Micro Machines did so well during the PlayStation One and Two days, but this one is nothing like that.

The game is so bad there are no players present during online matches. To add insult to injury, the game has no proper single player mode and it only has 12 cars to choose from.

Childhood ruined. It has a PlayScore of 5.36

2. Urban Empire

Rule the city in this different kind of strategy game that combines city-building and politics. Picture Cities Skylines, but with a growing social and historical events. Choose from 4 ruling families and create your own empire by controlling various needs of the people.

But once again, this is a worst list. The game had its pensive moments due to its deep world building, but it fails because of its DEEP WORLD BUILDING. It’s their own concept that brought them their own demise. It was a neat premise, but it’s badly executed. Everything is predetermined and your actions don’t make much of a difference.

Sure, the game is a city-builder, but it can only be enjoyed during the game’s first few hours. After that, you’re left with a slow and boooring simulation that has no payoff in the end. It has a PlayScore of 5.22

Here are the Runners-Up before we reveal the number one:

11. Impact Winter. A crowdfunded game that didn’t reach everyone’s expectations. It’s repetitive, unrewarding and devs don’t even care about the players. It has a PlayScore of 6.08

12. Double Dragon IV. From Arc System Works, this beat ‘em up offers nothing new to the Double Dragon table while also murdering the players’ nostalgia with their cash-grabbing attempts. It has a PlayScore of 6.09

13. Birthdays The Beginning. A voxel-based game where you play as a god and creating more life. Create your own ecosystem and watch it burn due to the game’s tediouscontrols, bad menus and broken save button. It has a PlayScore of 6.09

14. Mysterium: The Board Game. An iOS game is a fun game, no doubt. But the game’s difficulty left players frustrated. It has a PlayScore of 6.13

15. ELEX. Once a part of our most anticipated games, this open world RPG suffers from being a poor Fallout 4 knockoff with the worst combat in existence. It’s an unpolished game. It has a PlayScore of 6.17

1. And the worst game of 2017 is… uhh.. Bloody Boobs

You heard that right. Look it up on Steam and you’ll get what we’re trying to say. Even the game’s description is so ridiculous it tempts you to buy the game. For only 2 or 3 dollars, you can experience a game so unnecessary, so stupid, and so bad. It tries to make up for oversexualizing females from realistic boob and butt physics.

It is really, really, broken. The game is very unoptimized and it crashes so hard you don’t even care about the ladies anymore. Steam Reviews stated that don’t let your hormones guide for purchasing this game.

For the love of god, please don’t pick this game up, not for fun or for pleasure. Might as well press Ctrl + Shift + N if you’re in for that kind of stuff. It has a PlayScore of 5.09

Top 10 Best Xbox One Games of 2017

Whatoplay Presents the 10 best PlayStation 4 games of 2017. Let’s check them out right now.

10. First on the list is Night In The Woods

The PlayStation 4 is home for Indie games too. Journey did the same when it shaped the future of independently developed games. This time, Alec Holowka’s Kickstarter-funded game managed to tell a resonating tale of a young girl struggling with life’s biggest questions. Roam around its quaint little town and talk to anthropomorphic creatures with memorable stories to tell. There’s no violent combat involved in this game, nor any fighting involved. It’s just pure storytelling fun.

It lost against Hellblade under the category of “Games For Impact” and walloped against Cuphead charm with being the Best Indie game of the year during this year’s Game Awards. However, it was still notably praised for its thoughtful narrative and mature themes. It has a PlayScore of 8.91

9. Nex Machina

No, it’s not Square Enix’s cyberpunk version of the world. It’s a bullet hell twin stick shooter that leaves you with Carpal Tunnel problems. Created by the dudes behind Resogun, it focuses on the idea of pure action, destruction and competitiveness set in the bleak dystopian future. It is as intense as it is unforgiving. But the game’s tight soundtrack accompanies your journey as you unleash voxel explosions in every corner.

In its cablepunk future, eliminate machines before they take over humans for being the superior race. Use your wide array of weapons to dominate its over 100 levels. It is a satisfying visual trip and the game’s homage to the classic arcade atmosphere is on point.

If you like twin stick shooters, Nex Machina is just for you. It has a PlayScore of 8.91

8. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Yeah, we all know Nathan Drake is now retired with his globetrotting business. This spin-off puts the camera to two of the most badass female characters in the game: Nadine and Chloe Frazer.

It’s female power as you help them retrieve a mysterious Indian Relic. The stakes are higher and danger lurks in every corner. It’s a race against time as you maneuver through difficult challenges and jaw-dropping action sequences. It still contains the same explosive charm of the original Uncharted games.

It was well reviewed due to its visual splendor and heavy attention to detail. Knowing Naughty Dog, they put so much effort with their immersion to the game itself. Gunplay and combat is also widely praised due to its sleekness. With its success, we can’t wait for what lies for The Last Of Us II. This game has a PlayScore of 8.92

7. Final Fantasy IX

Once a landmark in its time, Final Fantasy's 9th major entry was one of the leading contenders for the best of the whole series--it gave us a brand new 3D experience. Square Enix brings back this beloved game to their modern console, and with added tweaks.

Control the charming bandit, Zidane Tribal, and his crew of Tantalus thespians as they work together to kidnap the beautiful Princess Garnet and save her from her royal woes. Roam around the land of Gaia, learn about the secret of the Crystal, and destroy an evil force that looms about their world.

Similar to last year’s Final Fantasy VII release, it has enhanced visuals, new HD cutscenes, trophy support and boosters to help players level up and master weapons efficiently. Everything you love about the game is still here. It has a PlayScore of 8.92

6. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

The second Final Fantasy game on our list. Compared to IX, this was also one of PlayStation 2’s most iconic games. Return to Dalmasca in this beautiful remaster of the sky-soaring, wall-destroying characters of Final Fantasy XII. Named The Zodiac Age, the game promises to enhance most of the concerns from the community including Game Balance, Remastered Graphics and a whole new challenge mode.

It’s International Zodiac Job System brings a whole new approach to the progression. This puts your characters to unique specialties and skills that was once a missing feature during the original game.

Though the updates seem huge, it’s still pretty much the game game. Get caught in its political conspiracies and difficult boss fights. Don’t listen to Ondore’s lies, because this game has a PlayScore of 8.92

5. NieR: Automata

It’s 2017. The age of sexy witches and wizards are no more. Yoko Taro’s creation gave us a smoking hot android in a tight black-dress. A spin-off to the Drakengard series, enter a desolate future in a post-apocalyptic earth.

Follow group of Android units designed to protect Humanity after an Alien Race conquers the planet. They seek out missions, find leads and fix the cause of the mysterious happenings behind god’s green earth.

As 2B, secure the future of mankind with your badass skillsets in high-flying hack and slash action. Combine heavy and light attacks with precision and style. But that doesn’t where the game shines, with its 26 unlockable endings, uncover the game’s massive secrets and complex story.

It was universally praised for its smart narrative, lovable characters and epic award-winning soundtrack. It receives a PlayScore of 8.97

4. Sonic Mania

Sonic returns! SEGA brings you into a new yet familiar adventure to our favorite blue hedgehog. This latest Sonic game brings back the trademark pixels of his old 2D form.

There will be a handful of new features and surprise that aim to rekindle the nostalgia of the classic.

Sonic Mania brings new life to their renowned stages, running their HD graphics in today's standard 60 frames. Relive the ring-collecting excitement with new bosses and brand new secrets to discover.

A culmination of Sonic's best years brought to modern eyes. Forget about Sonic Forces and gotta
go fast, because this game receives a PlayScore of 8.99

3. What Remains Of Edith Finch

A constant reminder that walking simulators aren’t over yet. After grabbing the Best Narrative during this year’s Game Awards, follow Edith Finch in her quest to find the truth in a collection of short stories that weaves in a puzzle-like experience.

Solve puzzles in the haunted Washington Estate and immerse yourself with the power of the Unreal Engine 4. Search every corner for hidden secrets while feeling the game’s absorbing atmosphere. Find out the reason why you’re the last Finch alive.

Of course, it gained so much respect with its narrative and story. It was Giant Sparrow’s next huge hit after The Unfinished Swan. Who knows what they have instore for us in the future? Edith Finch has a Playscore of 9.00

2. Undertale

Enter a magical world filled with creatures with varied personalities and trademark humor. As a young kid, prepare for a journey that fills you with determination.

Dig into the deepest crevices of this underground dimension and meet memorable characters. It is your choice to engage in its turn-based combat, or befriend them by being patient in each turn.

There is no difference compared to the PC version except for an increase in resolution. It’s still the same Undertale everyone adores. It has a PlayScore of 9.22
