- Unfortunately, the excitement of that original Mortal Kombat 1 ending is gone, and in its place rests a trepidation and unease over where the story might go next. Fittingly, it seems this once-promising story has been thrown into, well, chaos.

Il prezzo di vendita è sicuramente alto per i pochi contenuti proposti e le prime azioni di bilanciamento non risolvono i problemi che attanagliano il gioco da molto tempo a questa parte. Può essere sicuramente un punto di partenza per bilanciare al meglio tutta l’esperienza, ma parliamo sempre di un gioco che ha sulle spalle più di un anno di vita. La missione di recupero è difficile, ma non impossibile.

Voor 50 euro heb je praktisch niets in vergelijking met wat je in de base game kreeg. De overige toevoegingen zijn namelijk onderdeel van een gratis content-update: vier nieuwe arena’s, de terugkerende maar weinig inhoudelijke Towers of Time en Animalities. Deze finishing moves, waarbij je personage in een dier verandert om de vijand te vermorzelen, zijn helaas ongeïnspireerd en dus minder interessant dan de standaard fatalities (al moet ik hier toch even een uitzondering voor Peacekeeper maken, wat een mooie meme-callback). Dus, mijn advies: even wachten tot deze is afgeprijsd.

The new character redesigns are take it or leave it, but they're intriguing enough to see out their stories, although much of what's around them pulls it down. Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns is run of the mill, but serviceable.

Price concerns aside, the additions of Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot should be seen as a blessing for MK fans. It remains to be seen about the future of MK1’s story and the rest of the Guest Fighters coming soon, but this is a good step in the right direction for a larger-form kontent in year 2 of MK1.

Cyrax, Sektor e Noob Saibot sono spettacolari, dinamici e profondi, e i cambiamenti al bilanciamento risultano puntuali e non eccessivi. Non siamo di fronte ad un'eccellenza assoluta del genere picchiaduro, ma sarebbe ingeneroso valutare questa espansione con un voto inferiore al titolo base, di cui comunque risulta una notevole evoluzione.

For £39/$39 it's simply too lean, relying on the promise of an eclectic mix of characters to come and some long-awaited roster additions to add value to a very short and mostly forgettable story add-on. While I'm naturally excited to mess around with the new characters when they arrive, it's too great a cost for what's on offer right now - as happy as I am to have Noob Saibot back.

Zespół Eda Boona zmierzył się ze ścianą realizując sezonową zawartość i jednocześnie pracując nad pełnoprawnym dodatkiem.
