Ankama, the French entertainment company behind Wakfu, finally released the Switch version of One More Gate: A Wakfu Legend. The new Switch game launched on Nintendo's e-Shop on May 21.
One More Gate: A Wakfu Legend is the latest video game title in the Wakfu multimedia franchise. It first came out on PC in 2023. The game is a rogue-lite deck-builder that combines exploration and turn-based strategy combat.
The game takes place in the World of Twelve, a vibrant realm populated by various races like the Eliatropes. Its story arch centers around Oropo, a mysterious Eliotrope who leads a group of divine children, the Brotherhood of the Forgotten, abandoned by their creators.
A core element of the Wakfu universe, Wakfu is a natural energy that flows throughout the World of Twelve. As Oropo, players must master its flow to gain an advantage in combat. In doing so, they need to strategically wielding three types of cards with critical values: Attack, Defense, and Boost. By combining these elements, they can forge devastating combos to defeat their opponents.
As players progress through the game, they can also visit the town store to purchase new cards and enhance their existing decks. The store also provides a place to rest and chat with the game's vibrant cast of characters. From dojo masters to bodybuilder grandmothers, they offer players quests in exchange for fantastic loot.
Leveling up grants players increased power, making each attempt through the game more rewarding. A unique mechanic called the Wakfu Gauge also unlocks supreme power when filled to its maximum.
One More Game: A Wakfu Legend carries a price tag of US$24.99 on Nintendo's e-Shop. The Switch edition also contains all updates of the game - from patches to content.
