One of 2020's most critically acclaimed titles can now be played on PlayStation 5 consoles. Good Shepherd Entertainment on July 26 announced the arrival of Monster Train on PlayStation 5.

It carries a price tag of $24.99 USD on the PlayStation store. The PlayStation version also includes the game's Last Divinity DLC.

Monster Train is a single-player strategy card-battling game from California-based indie studio Shiny Shoe. It was published by Good Shepherd Entertainment. The game first made its debut on PC in 2020 and became a critical and commercial success. It went on to be ported to the iOS where it remains as one of the best games on the platform.

Monster Train challenges players to defend a fiery pyre from invading enemies. In doing so, they need to strategically deploy creatures and abilities.

Unlike traditional card games, Monster Train has a vertical battlefield, a train with four levels. Victory hinges on careful deck-building, resource management, and tactical prowess.

Players must protect the topmost pyre from destruction. At the same time, they must manage their forces across the three lower levels. They will use cards to summon monsters and create special effects to reinforce their defense. However, there is a twist. Players can only summon their creatures for the first three floors.

Since its launch, Monster Train has garnered critical acclaim. The game's blend of deck-building and tactical gameplay has captivated players and critics alike. The game earned multiple nominations including Best Strategy/Tactics Game at IGN Best of 2020. It was also shortlisted for the Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year at the 24th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.

The title’s success enabled its creators to expand it to other devices, including Xbox One, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. Monster Train currently has over 1.5 million players across all platforms.
