Littlefield Studio and Dear Villagers announced the release date of the indie puzzle game Machinika: Atlas. Beginning this September 3, players can access Machinika: Atlas on PC and mobile devices.
A sequel to the 2021 title Machinika: Museum, players reprise the role of a museum researcher. But this time, the story takes place in outer space. After a spaceship crash, the researcher got stranded on Atlas, Saturn's moon.
The game features logic and mystery elements in its mechanics. Players must use logic and observation to solve intricate puzzles. These will also help them uncover the secrets of the alien vessel.
"While the storyline ties into Machinika: Museum, prior play is not required for enjoying Machinika: Atlas," developers said. Machinika: Museum made its debut in 2021 on PC, iOS, and Android. Upon its release, it received generally positive reviews.
Developers also promised to deliver an immersive sci-fi atmosphere for Machinika: Atlas. This means players can expect a game filled with mystery and intrigue. Its narrative unfolds gradually as players progress, revealing more about the ship and its history.
Meanwhile, French publisher Dear Villages has opened pre-orders for Machinika: Atlas. Developers, on the other hand, have shut down the game's demo version on Steam, in anticipation of its full release.
"We've taken down the demo from Steam and are preparing for the full release of the game," Littlefield wrote on Steam. "We'll do our best to improve the game based on your feedback!" they added.
In the meantime, creators of Machinika: Atlas published its official trailer on YouTube. The video provides a preview of the upcoming game. This includes what type of puzzles await players.
