With titles like Tomb Raider and Uncharted making their jump from consoles to the big screen, it looks like the franchise that inspired both of them is going to be the one making the transfer to video games.

As announced by Bethesda, the studio is currently working on a game based on Indiana Jones. Here’s the teaser:

The official announcement also includes this statement:

A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, @MachineGames, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with @LucasfilmGames. It'll be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!

It’s going to be interesting to see how they’re going to be setting Indiana Jones apart. Bethesda has often been teased for making only one kind of game with The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. More so that the Uncharted and Tomb Raider games have succeeded at encapsulating the spirit of adventure and treasure-hunting that the Indy movies do.

This Indiana Jones title may just be a smaller, more contained game, as a fifth Indiana Jones movie is in the works with Steven Spielberg. What are the odds that the studios would want them to release alongside each other for brand synergy? We don’t know when the game nor the film will release, but hopefully we get some more solid updates before the year ends.

In the meantime, Bethesda fans are waiting for news on the release of Elder Scrolls VI which will hopefully get a release date this year.
