Previous owners will be able to port over locations from Hitman 1 and 2 to the upcoming Hitman 3 on the same platform at no additional cost. After reports came out stating that players will have to repurchase Hitman 2 levels to bring them back for the third game, IO Interactive has come out with an official statement to clear things out with players.
As per the official IO Interactive Twitter account:
For now, it looks like players won’t be able to port over Hitman 2 locations on launch day, but at least we have confirmation from the developers that they are working on solutions to make the seamless transition without any additional spending on the players’ part.
There’s no exact date yet on when this fix will go live, but in the meantime, they can get their hands on the GOTY edition of Hitman 1 for free when you pre-purchase Hitman 3 or buy it in the first 10 days after release.
IO Interactive has come up with a pre-launch guide. The guide details how players can get their hands on Hitman 3, as well as how previous owners of Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 can import their locations to the upcoming title.
