Hauma, the story-rich game about a retired detective, will be welcoming more players soon.
Creators from Assemble Entertainment and SenAm Games announced Hauma's upcoming port to Nintendo Switch. In a press release, the two gaming companies said they will roll out the Switch version 'this summer.' A specific date for its Switch launch has yet to be revealed.
Hauma first came out on PC last September 2023. A narrative-driven game, players take control of the protagonist Judith. When a series of mysterious events plagued Munich, they must guide Judith out of her retirement to help restore peace and order in the city.
Players need to solve puzzles, decipher cryptic dialogue riddles, and interact with characters. They will also have to unravel the intricate web of deceit that surrounds the upper echelons of the Bavarian capital.
The game's lore is told in a comic-book style that allows players to explore a noir-themed Munich. It also features real-world locations such as the House of Art.
Hauma received generally positive reviews upon release. Both gamers and critics alike praised the detective game for its visuals and audio. The comic-book art style and voice sum up to a cinematic experience.
Its Mindboard inventory system was also noted as one of the game's strengths. The Mindboard is one of the unique features found in Hauma. With it, players will be able to help Judith sort and store her memories when solving mysteries.
Hauma also has its own share of flaws. Critics from Rock Paper Shotgun pointed out that the game's story and characters needed more fleshing out. In addition, Adventure Game Hotspot described the puzzle mechanics as 'less engaging than anticipated.'
Finally, Metacritic ruled that Hauma offered a stylish and engaging adventure. However, it did not necessarily break new ground in the genre.
On whatoplay, Hauma received a playscore of 7.4/ ###
