While people still enjoy single player games, there have been efforts to bring multiplayer to titles like The Last of Us and Uncharted. Co-op has finally come to Ghost of Tsushima, and and Sucker Punch just announced it with a new trailer.

Introducing Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a new cooperative multiplayer* experience inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology. Choose from one of four classes -- Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin – and play with friends or via online matchmaking in a series of two-player story missions or four-player wave-based survival missions.

This mode will be available free for anyone who already owns the game. With the main game mostly focused on a more realistic story, it looks like Legends is going to be embracing the myths and folklore from Feudal Japan. The visuals from the trailer also promise a more surreal world.

If anything, I don’t think this game mode will have any impact on the main campaign with Jin Sakai. While I’m not expecting a whole campaign, I think Legends will be telling its own story, albeit something a lot shorter and easier to digest with a group of friends you’re playing with.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be free for GoT owners this fall. The core game Ghost of Tsushima is now available for PlayStation 4.
