Video games have come a long way since Pong, and though a lot of games seem pretty standard today, nothing really compares to the desperation and difficulty that retro games have been notorious for. What’s interesting is, Jandusoft S.L. and Plain and Game Studio are planning on mixing the cute and the ‘hardcore’ with their upcoming title Elliot.

The game comes with two playable characters, Elliot and Manuel, and you have the chance to traverse 60 levels through 11 chapters. While the game is described to be stress-enducing and hard, it does come with a soundtrack of relaxing music to ‘make everything much easier’; I guess that’s what they were going for with the trailer—a nice Pixar soundtrack paired with some crazy-looking levels.
Though there is much to do with the base game, there are also several other elements on Elliot that will encourage you to challenge yourself with Speedrun mode as well as other achievements; all to make the most of its $5.99/5.99€ price tag.
Catch Elliot when it hits the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One on Dec. 24.
