Games have moved on from being simple platformers with direct goals. Over the evolution of games, developers have been trying to add more emotional elements to their games, and Otterways is offering a unique look into relationships with Sweet Love.

Here’s the official description:

Sweet Love is a very-short platformer with an asymmetrical gameplay that equally runs on Windows Mac and Linux. It will be released as the first of a series of short games called Nuances, a series which focuses on ideas represented in feminist, or LGBTQ+ thematics and fights for inclusiveness. This first game, from the indie game Studio Otterways, stages rough situations such as toxic couple relationship, mental harassment and marital rape. It's coming out on Steam on July 30th and all the profits will directly go to the organisation "Woman in game".

Sweet Love looks to be a very ambitious game when it comes to the themes that it wants to tackle. It’s said that the game was actually developed over a week back in November of 2019 and was offered for free on Itch.io with the purpose to raise awareness about ‘particular types of violence in conjugal relationships’. I don’t know exactly how that translated in the game, but I would sure like to find out.

For now, Sweet Love is the first entry into this whole series of short games called Nuances. We don’t know what’s in store for this, but I’m fascinated to see what direction Otterways decides to go should this be a hit.

Sweet Love is now available on Steam.

One of the main boasts of the Xbox Series X is its backwards compatibility, and a lot of Xbox fans are happy that they’re libraries from the first gen of Xbox can be accessed with the Series X. When it comes to the PlayStation 5 though, it looks like the console will be able to access hardware from the previous gen.

As per the PlayStation Blog, here’s a list of all the PS4 accessories and peripherals that will be able to connect to the PS5:

Specialty peripherals, such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks, will work with PS5 games and supported PS4 games.

The Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack, will work on PS5 (the headset companion app is not compatible with PS5).

The DualShock 4 wireless controller and PlayStation officially licensed third-party gamepad controllers will work with supported PS4 games.

Both the PS Move Motion Controllers and the PlayStation VR Aim Controller will work with supported PS VR games on PS5.

Though the DualShock 4 controller is still accessible with the PS5 though, gamers shouldn’t think that it could be a direct replacement of the next-gen controller.

As confirmed by the PS Blog, the PS4 controller will only be effective in playing PS4 games—you will still need to have a PS5 controller for titles that come exclusively to that console. The blog reads:

“No, we believe that PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features we’re bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller.”
This is sure to be good news for anyone who has invested in all the other accessories that can come with the PS4. While there are sure to be upgrades to these extra devices, it’s great that we can have access to the older materials in the meantime.

Sony is yet to announce when the PS5 will release, but everyone is hoping that we get full details on PlayStation’s State of Play which takes place on Aug. 6.

Meanwhile, you can find more games in our dedicated list of Upcoming PS5 Games.

Remember Army Men? It was a game franchise that launched in the 90s that let players take control of green army men toys as they waged war on the battlefield that was a child’s playroom. We haven’t had an entry in the franchise since 2013, but this launch trailer for The Mean Greens: Plastic Warfare may just as well be its spiritual successor.

Check it out:

Here’s the official description as well:

We are very excited to announce the launch date of The Mean Greens: Plastic Warfare on PS4! This action-packed third person online multiplayer shooter was a blast to make. We hope you enjoy it! Coming to digital download on August 5th.

While the game looks like your standard shooter with familiar game modes, The Mean Greens definitely sets itself apart when it comes to the setting. Instead of sprawling cities or futuristic maps, we get to play around different elements of a house, from a bathtub to the kitchen. It kind of feels like a Toy Story spinoff where you get to play missions as the green army men.

This is also just something else I noticed, but the score for the trailer kind of sounds like the music from Marvel’s Ant-Man—a film that deals with a miniaturized character traversing an enlarged terrain.

The Mean Greens: Plastic Warfare will be available on the PS4 and the Xbox One on August 5th. You can find more games in our updated lists of Upcoming PS4 Games and Upcoming Xbox One Games.

What can be considered Army Men's spiritual successor, The Mean Greens is now coming to the PS4 too.

While everyone was excited for the announcement of the Spider-Man sequel for the PS5, we instead got a reveal for a spinoff titled Spider-Man: Miles Morales. What’s interesting is, it’s possible that Insomniac’s first Spider-Man game is going to be getting a remaster.

In the latest issue of Game Informer (via ComicBook), it’s said that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be bundled up with a remaster of 2018’s Spider-Man game. This hasn’t been confirmed by Insomniac or Sony at all, so it’s best we take this info with a grain of salt.

Via: Game Informer

It would make sense for Insomniac to try and bring the first Spider-Man into the next generation of consoles, seeing that every sequel will likely be coming to the PS5. Even Naughty Dog made the first Last of Us available for the PS4.

We don’t know exactly what they could bring to the table, but everyone would like to play the game with minimal loading screens.

Independent developer Snowcastle Games had introduced us to the world of Umbra when they released Earthlock back in 2016, and four years later, we now have a trailer for the sequel, Earthlock 2.

Check it out:

While the first game was developed with a really small team, this sequel promises that Snowcastle is bringing in more collaborators, resulting in a bigger game. Game director Bendik Stang says about the sequel:

“We are so pleased to finally offer up this first tease of what players can come to expect in Earthlock 2… We really want our next title to offer players a huge amount of replayability, customization, and depth, with incredible emergent gameplay possibilities. It’s been an exciting endeavor for us and we can’t wait to reveal more about the game in the future, please stay tuned!”

With the original Eartlock making use of turn-based combat, the new game is said to be an ‘open-world action RPG with complex interlocking systems.’ We don’t know what they mean exactly by that, so until we get a gameplay teaser, we’ll just have to wait and see.

What’s great is, if you’re not familiar with Earthlock, you can also check out the original game which is now 80% off on Steam; the Nintendo Switch eShop and Xbox Games Store are also offering the game on discount at €4.99 EUR / £4.49 GBP / $5.98 USD.

Here’s the plot for the original Earthlock:

The Earthlock series is set on the planet of Umbra, which has stopped spinning on its axis, meaning half of the world is completely shrouded in darkness, while the other half is constantly baked in sunlight. Along the border in the middle, there is an area that gets the best of both worlds. The game’s story centers around a group of friends who must set out to find and rescue their missing family members.

No release date has been set for Earthlock 2, but expect it to be available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X.

For more games, you can check oout our updated list of Upcoming PC Games, Upcoming PS4 Games, Upcoming Xbox One Games, as well as next-gen titles in Upcoming Xbox Series X Games and Upcoming PlayStation 5 Games

Issue decrees, manage resources, develop projects, and construct buildings. A race for the vaccine begins!

What’s also great is that the game provides some real information that could be vital to surviving the pandemic which you could apply to real life. They’ve been really careful when it came to designing the game, even gathering official data published by WHO as well as getting input from professionals.

Besides having to build new buildings and research for a cure, they even address the problem of ‘non-believers’ when it comes to the outbreak—a very real problem that the US is facing right now.

Rock of Ages launched way back in 2010, and with 2020 marking the 10th anniversary, they release the third game in the franchise, Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break, with a whole new trailer to show off the goods.

Break defenses as you barrel downhill in the largest Rock of Ages campaign to date. You’ll encounter iconic characters from across history and mythology, including Abraham Lincoln and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

For the first time in franchise history, players get to use the all-new custom course creator to bring out the wackiest course ideas to life and share them with friends. This new feature adds a whole new level of replayability to the series.

There have been a lot of additional game modes that have been included in Make & Break like Humpty Dumpty and Avalanche. With the franchise also heavily influenced by period works of art (which have a lot of religious depictions), it feels like a natural progression that the Flying Spaghetti Monster would officially be part of a game.

Rock of Ages has a very unique style, and it’s pretty great to see another installment incoming. You have to love all the Terry Gilliam influence—who thought they would actually be great for games?

Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break is available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
