The free Moon Harvest Festival update, available now on PC and consoles, sees Kevin the Dog and The Onion King welcome in the autumn/fall season with three varieties of mooncakes – the traditional dessert for the celebrations – on the menu, along with five new levels in which to cook up chaos, and the introduction of hazardous lily pads that can barely hold a chef’s weight.

Take note, this update will be free for all players and is part of a long line of updates that are going to be added to the game. With the next generation of consoles on the horizon, developers Team17 and Ghost Town Games have also teased the arrival of the definitive version of the game—Overcooked! All You Can Eat which will include this update and all the rest that have come to the game so far.

We don’t know how many more updates are being planned for the year, but with Spring, Summer, and now Fall already covered, we may be getting one more expansion come winter.

While Overcooked! All You Can Eat is still expected to launch on the PS5 and Xbox Series X sometime next year, you can now play Overcooked! 2 on PC, Switch, Xbox One, and PS4.

Besides the popularity of Fall Guys</>, one other game that has caught everyone’s attention is Among Us from indie developer InnerSloth. As it turns out, a sequel was originally planned for the game, but the developers have decided to cancel it in order to improve on what they have now.

In an official statement released by the developers, they write:

We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1. All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1… We have lots of things planned and we’re excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing!

Apparently, one big issue that the devs have right now for the current game is that the codebase is pretty old (Among Us came out in 2018), meaning that it would be hard for devs to add newer things to the game moving forward. While it would be the harder task, the devs have said that choosing to improve on Among Us would mean ‘going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it.’

If anything, they can probably keep improving on this iteration of Among Us for a while, just enough to keep growing the player base. Then when they have enough brand recognition, they can launch the sequel without being too worried that the player base has dwindled. It’s just a thought.

As for incoming improvements, InnerSloth has pointed out that they are looking at server issues and a friends/account system. There are also plans for adding support for colorblind players. Besides that, there is an incoming new stage that will be Henry Stickmin-themed; development is still in early stages, but it’s great brand synergy for InnerSloth which also developed the highly-reviewed game.

Among Us is now playable for PC, iOS, and Android.

After the announcement of Min-Min from Arms, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, one of highest ranking Switch games, has revealed some new fighters coming to their hit crossover game—Steve and Alex from Minecraft.
Here’s the reveal:

Besides Steve and Alex, you can actually swap them for other characters from Minecraft Enderman or a Zombie. While the characters do look simple, they required a lot more work to get put into the game. According to game director Masahiro Sakurai:

What's difficult, however, is the programming work required to bring the character to life. It's a massive challenge. Plus, we have to rework all our existing stages so that blocks can be placed in them. What about biomes? We also need to consider things like those. And most importantly, how do we adjust the game balance to accommodate the new fighter? Who knows what'll happen?

Steve and Alex are the second character announcement for the Fighter Pass Vol. 2 DLC and they will be available for $29.99. Players are still expecting four other fighters to come to the pack, and since this announcement was made four months after the Min-Min reveal, we should probably expect the next character to be revealed sometime in 2021—probably February.

No release date has been set for Minecraft’s Steve and Alex, but Nintendo is set to make a broadcast on Oct. 3 delving deeper into the character playstyles.

It has been two years since the release of the last Yakuza game and SEGA is looking to bring the franchise back this year with Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Announced last year, now we have the official release date for the next-gen title.

It’s also been announced that Yakuza: Like a Dragon will come to the PlayStation 5 on March 2, 2021—that’s four months after the November launch. We don’t know exactly why the PS5 release is delayed, but purchasing the PS4 version already guarantees players a free upgrade for the PS5.

While Overwatch may have seen its last hero update with Echo, it looks Paladins is still keen on adding more heroes to their roster. Just in, they’ve announced the arrival of Vora, a ‘herald of chaos’ that seems like the perfect hero for the Halloween season.

Check her out:

Here’s the official description:

Vora once was a loyal guardian, devoting her life to the Goddess who protected her in return. So when evil struck she felt betrayed, forsaken. In despair, she chose a bloodier path and her story became one of vengeance. Against her former Goddess’ moonlight, she now wields darkness. Vora is the herald of chaos.

With Paladins' frequent comparisons to Overwatch, it is kind of funny how this scythe-wielding character has a voiceover that sounds awfully like Reaper; the fact that she’s also wielding a scythe feels kind of on the nose.

We don’t know what the exact play-style for Vora is yet, but by the looks of it, she could have speedy teleportation powers which will allow for good coverage of the battlefield. Her attacks could also mostly be melee, and having her very mobile is a good balance to that. We should expect a full breakdown of her abilities within the week.

Despite the Overwatch comparisons, Paladins manages to set itself apart with great characters and engaging gameplay. With Overwatch 2 on the way, you can’t help but think what else Evil Mojo and Hi-Rez have in store for this shooter title.

Vora becomes available this coming October. Paladins is now playable for PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Though Spider-Man: Miles Morales is going to be a launch title for the PlayStation 5, it’s also going to release alongside a remaster of the PS4’s Spider-Man. We just got a big update from Insomniac Games about the new edition, and it’s been revealed that the studio has decided to change the face of Peter Parker.

Check this out:

While the internet is currently griping that Sony made the change to make sure the character looked like Tom Holland, the studio has explained that this was done so that Peter would more resemble Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal. Community director James Stevenson writes:

“In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.”

If anything, fans of the first game are not having it and are demanding that Insomniac #BringBackBubniak. Personally, the original face never really sat well with me; I mean, it didn’t even really look like Bubniak. I guess I can understand the frustration of some fans, because to them the PS4 Spider-Man had become the definitive version. Hopefully Insomniac looks at this backlash and makes the original face an unlockable skin.

As an extra, we also have some footage of the game running on 60fps:

And it’s also been revealed that the suit from The Amazing Spider-Man will also be available in the game:

One of the most celebrated games to come out on the Switch this year is Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and players are all enamored with this latest update on the classic franchise. What’s great is, Animal Crossing has announced their Halloween update for the fall season, and it’s sure to be some spooky fun for players.

For the update, players will be able to prepare for the Halloween season by growing pumpkins that you can customize with your own DIY projects. What’s more, you can collect candy and change costumes, all culminating to Halloween night where you can run into other players who have also geared up for Halloween.

Animal Crossing has also announced their smartphone app called the “NookLink App Update”. Here’s the official description:

With Halloween probably being cancelled in some places this year thanks to COVID-19, this is probably the closest thing some people are going to get to it. If anything, it all looks adorable, and it would be fun gearing up for the fall season.

With the success of remakes for Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil, it’s no wonder that developers are looking at their IP bank for classic games to bring to the next generation. What’s interesting is, Konami could be reviving what is considered one of the greatest games for the original PlayStation.

A rumor from RedGamingTech (via ComicBook) suggests that Konami is looking to remake the first Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation 5. The full remake is said to be a console exclusive; and besides that, it’s said the studio is also looking to supplement Metal Gear Solid with remasters for Metal Gear Solid II: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid III: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of Patriots.

Should this be true, Hideo Kojima’s entire Metal Gear Solid series would be available to play on the PS5, as Metal Gear V: The Phantom Pain will be playable via backwards compatibility.

Admittedly the Metal Gear Solid series was said to have floundered when Kojima left the studio, and not too many people were pleased with 2018’s Metal Gear Survive. With the remake though, Konami is going to be banking on the nostalgia of several players, but I guess it would also be a cool introduction to the MGS series, seeing as the story has gotten pretty convoluted over the years.

Sadly, we should just take this as a rumor for now, but like I said, remakes have been all the rage recently, and Konami may just as well try to bank on one of their most popular titles.

The PlayStation 5 is set to launch on Nov. 12. Find more games in our updated list of Upcoming PS5 Games.

CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, but Merge Games and Antab Studio are teaming up for another Cyberpunk-based shooter, but this time it’s going to be heavily influenced by the comic aesthetic.

Take a deep dive into the incoming game, Foreclosed:

Foreclosed is a Cyberpunk action-shooter set in a comic book world. Follow the events of Evan Kapnos in this original comic book styled game and discover how losing your identity is all too possible.

I guess you could say that one big difference that this game has from Cyberpunk 2077 is that the player has to follow only one character’s story, and you don’t have to trouble yourself so much on character creation element. Like Cyberpunk though, your character looks to have his own cybernetic enhancements that you can customize to your play style.

If anything else is special about Foreclosed, it’s the comic panel visuals that change as the story moves forward. It’s also kind of corny, but I like how you can read the sound effects when they happen, from the doors closing to every shot you fire with your gun.

While open-world games seem to be all the rage right now with your Red Dead Redemptions and Witcher, I think there’s still something great about games with tight narratives like The Last of Us Part II.

No release date has been set for Foreclosed, but the game is expected to be available in 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

While there were a lot of naysayers when it came to the 2018 God of War reboot, the PS4 exclusive has come out to be one of the best games in the system. Thanks to the PS5 Showcase Event, we finally have a teaser for God of War: Ragnarok.

We don’t really get a good look at the game yet, but we do have some voiceover from Kratos saying, “The time draws near. You must prepare yourself,” then we get a tagline “Ragnarok is coming.”

Besides that, we get the return of the revamped “Omega” symbol with Nordic runes, but this time it’s blue; plus we have that sweet God of War theme from Bear McCreary playing over everything.

While the first game had teased that Kratos would be jumping into other mythologies like Chinese and Egyptian myths, it looks like this sequel is going to stick with the Norse setting. If anything, this could wrap up the whole reveal of Atreus’ true identity, plus we get to see Kratos face off with the most infamous Norse god, Tho
r.

Man, imagine what the fan reaction would be if they killed Kratos off in the middle of the game and have you play as Atreus in search of revenge on Thor?

No specific release date has been set for God of War: Ragnarok, but it’s set to come to the PS5 sometime in 2021.
