Since time immemorial, the series is never afraid to show off the brutality of death. From decapitation, freezing, stabbing, head-cracking, impaling and more, Mortal Kombat succeeded at every possible death.

Komplete Edition contains all the Downloadable Content from NetherRealms’ first Mortal Kombat game. This includes all the new characters like Kenshi, Rain, Skarlet and the notorious Freddy Krueger. Experience the deadliest tournament with all the iconic Kombatants in MK history. Picking up after the events of Armageddon, stop an evil emperor hell-bent from taking over the world. Pretty generic, but that’s how most MK deals with their story.

Considered as a Reboot of the entire franchise, feel the new yet familiar combat that the series was once known for. With the Unreal Engine, experience high quality overkills in the most satisfying ways especially with the game’s new X-Ray supers.

Choose and play from its dynamic gameplay modes such as Tag Team and Challenge Tower. Lauded for its smooth optimization to the PC, this is Netherrealms’ proof that they can make a decent Mortal Kombat game.

It has a playscore of 8.13

9. Injustice: Gods Among Us - Ultimate Edition

Two NetherRealm games in a row show how much they love the fighting genre. The glorious superhero powerplay from DC Comics makes a grand debut to the videogame industry. Superman loses his faith to humanity and our favorite superheroes are at the brink of civil war. Watch Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and more DC characters as they test their moral compass to ensure the safety of humanity.

Ultimate Edition is pretty much every other “enhanced” title. It’s smoother, better and it contains all the Downloadable Content from the original such as 6 new characters, 30 new skins, and 60 new STAR Labs Missions.

It’s the definitive Injustice experience. The original made a good impression to the fans and critics due to its impressive story, fluid fighting mechanics and refined visuals. There’s no other way to experience the first Injustice game without this one.

It receives a playscore of 8.15

8. Lethal League

Games like these are always a big surprise when they successfully gain the love of gamers and critics. Team Reptile’s fighting game mixes two unlikely genres: Sports and Fighting. It’s a competitive fighting game where players fling an anti-gravity ball to defeat their opponent. It’s not your everyday ball, it’s a continuously speeding projectile that feels like it’s about to go boom.

Featuring a unique bunch of characters, these street-level heroes unleash their batting skills to remove their opponent from the map. It’s similar to Super Smash Bros but it involves a constant moving projectile instead of big punches and kicks.

The game’s best feature lies in its versus mode. With up to 4 players and a banging soundtrack, go in an all-out batting war in local or online play. Provided with GGPO technology, feel the high-speed nature of the Lethal League in a seamless online experience.

It’s in a league of its own, this game has a playscore of 8.20

7. Nidhogg

Step into the dueling pits and witness an award-winning fighting game with an unlikely combination of mechanics: Fencing and Tug of War. Deal out ripostes, thrusts, and any exceptional fencing movements to take down your opponent. Be on your most vigilant state because any point of opportunity is the key to victory. It’s fast, graceful and it’s full of yelling and stabbing.

Packed with a jumpy electronica soundtrack, revel in your sophisticated fencing abilities and take down waves and waves of enemies in its single-player mode. It’s ridiculous and oftentimes serious when played with a friend. Multiplayer is much more enjoyable. Do you want to engage with fisticuffs or do quick successive lunges to your opponent? There are just so many things you can do in a limited environment.

Messhof's Nidhogg gained positive to both gamers and critics. Calling it an exhilarating experience, if not downright crazy. It’s a fun fighting game and its sequel is just around the corner.

It has a playscore of 8.21

6. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst

Mashashi Kishamoto’s masterpiece has taken the world by storm with the series’ long-awaited finale. Full Burst packs together the complete Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 experience. Which means all the DLC’s are present, new content, and refined visuals. CyberConnect2 grants us the opportunity to witness the 4th Great Ninja War.

This is CyberConnect2’s beginning on their improved dynamic ninja fighting action with the series’ iconic roster of characters, and that includes the great Jinchuriki’s. Storywise it adds new chapters including Itachi’s life after he breaks away from Madara’s seal and a Director’s Cut that features a different viewpoint during the Great War.

Additionally, the game offers 100 new missions and over 30 additional skins to choose from. If you’re a Naruto fan or anyone that loves the good ol’ ninja action, then this game is the closest thing for becoming the best Naruto game to date. It was praised for its excellent fan service, responsive controls, and a story mode that takes you deeper into the lore. However, the lack of exploration and the dumbed-down difficulty was a tad bit annoying.

It receives a playscore of 8.26

5. Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code

Another case of Japanese name oddities, the Melty Blood series is known for pioneering the visual novel and fighting game hybrid--well, among others. It's also known to be developed by Type-Moon, which rose to fame for their now established Fate/ series, and of course, their 2000's eroge visual novel Tsukihime. But, despite featuring the characters of the same Tsukihime series, French Bread's Melty Blood is fluid, smooth, and decidedly wholesome.

The game is set one year after the events of Shiki Tohno's investigation into a mysterious series of murders. This particular title, while being the first made for the Ringside Arcade Board, marks the end of the long-running series. It features a whole collection of playable characters, including the previous PS2 exclusives. The freedom of choice is evident in the game, as you pick from a total of 31 different fighters, each with three separate playstyles to discover. Weave through its intriguing narrative or compete with players around the globe in Rank and Player matches.

Waiting 15 years for a western release, this has been the fulfillment of many fan's dreams. And while it's not exactly friendly to curious newcomers, their top-notch animations and fast-paced combat can definitely make up for the grind.

It has a playscore of 8.3.

4. Street Fighter IV

Following its successful premiere on the PS3 and Xbox consoles, Street Fighter jump kicked its way to the PC in an unexpected but much-awaited released in 2009. It gave the once-envious and console-less population their first taste of the franchise's new generation. A culmination of the lessons learned by the franchise in the 20 years of experience, Street Fighter IV has nailed the fundamentals of their formula, finishing it off with a polished glint.

Compared to V's more narrow approach to competitive fighting, IV seems more diverse and welcoming. With their refined lineup, every character has its own edge in the fight. One thing that's different in this iteration is the Focus Attack that lets you charge and absorbs attacks to bring your opponents down in battle. It's a special move that will give you an advantage in both offensive and defensive play.

While everything's been vastly improved in their recent Ultra version, they've sadly been left wanting for more reviews. But, despite their vanilla roster and balance, IV still has much of the charm of the series. Learn your moves, time your combos, and demolish whoever stands in your way. Or you could just participate in some heavy button mashing to catch victory.

It has a playscore of 8.35.

3. Rivals Of Aether

Set in a world where Fire, Earth, Water, and Air collide. Choose your champion and manipulate the elements together in this fast and frenetic Indie fighting game. Some players are even calling it the Smash game they deserve since it contains similar gameplay elements to Nintendo’s iconic brawler.

Dive into the game’s Story Mode where you uncover the stories from each of the Elemental Champions. Go into a fiery adventure with Zetterburn, or feel the earth crumbling with Kragg’s story. Players can also test their mettle with Abyss Mode where players survive a gauntlet of shadowy fighters to climb the leaderboards.

But the game’s real fun lies in its Online Mode. If you really want to put your fighting skills to the test, play with a friend or go into its ranked matches.

It’s a Smash clone, yes. But it’s not a bad one. It has a playscore of 8.40

2. Skullgirls

Conceptualized during the college days and haunted by development issues, Lab Zero's work of love has definitely come a long way since its release in 2012. For fighting fans on the PC, Skullgirl's place in this list is no surprise. This 2D fighter marries a creative, and engaging style with controls that are both friendly, and competitively balanced. It's the kind of game that's easy on the eyes, easier to pick-up, and even harder to master--making it a favorite for veterans looking for a tight duel, and newcomers looking for some multiplayer fun.

Enter their art deco arenas, and enjoy the anime-steampunk feel of their roster of eight characters. Modeled after Marvel vs Capcom 2's New Age of Heroes, they share plenty of similarities--with tag-team battles, character assists, and combos. But what really sets them apart the amount of creativity poured onto each of their fighters. Explore each of their moves, and find out which playstyle fits you best.

While their fanservice art has been divisive at best, it's still one of the finest looking fighters out there. With punishing AIs, extremely accurate hitboxes, and competitive online community, Skullgirls will stay in the genre's hall of fame for a long time.

It has a playscore of 8.51.

15. Street Fighter X Tekken

The best fighting game on the PC is:

1. Tekken 7

Lo’ and behold, QLoc’s critically acclaimed fighting game dominates our list. Step into the seventh King of the Iron First Tournament and witness the end of the Mishima Feud. These pesky family problems aren’t gonna go running around forever and destroying the world.

As per usual, Tekken 7 was released as an Arcade game first during 2015, then it received a huge port to the consoles and PC. Upon its release, it gained the respect it deserves. Powered by the Unreal Engine 4, experience Tekken like never before. The smooth texture and dazzling special effects are a few of its best features.

Gameplay is better than ever. With two new features called Rage Art and Power Crush, this can really change the tide of each round. Just by watching a single match can really entertain you. Especially with their sweet slow-motion effect for that clutch jabs. It was praised for its insanely accurate hitboxes and reasonable balance changes.

With over 39 playable characters, both old and new, watch how a fighting game stood the test of time. It’s definitely the best Tekken game to date and obviously the best on our list.

9. Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star

This the third installment of one of Marvelous' many well-known series. Making its premiere on Sony’s PlayStation Vita, the servant action takes another step up with its recent move to the newest Nintendo console.

This warriors-type action game is set after the events of the legendary Holy Grail War. Take up the mantle of master once again in their newest escapade. This time, their victory in the war has granted them power over a wish-granting computer, and the servants of their former enemy. With another man threatening to control them, prove you're the better master and fight with them against a multitude of foes.

The game has over sixteen playable characters to choose from, all of them divided over eight different classes. Explore each of their unique fighting styles, and use your swords, magic, and violence against the malevolent foes that come before you. Or use their powerful transformations to instill fear among your enemies.

Packed with the same fast-paced combat, beautiful visuals, and lovable cast of characters, it's the musou game that we all came to expect. While it falls prey to the genre's lack of variety, it's still as addictive as ever.

It has a playscore of 8.16.

8. ARMS

Nintendo has always had an affinity for oddball ideas, and then making them work in an epic way. It's this kind of creativity that made them so popular in the first place. A plumber collecting coins and battling evil turtles? Check. A puzzle-solving warrior who dives into dungeons and destroys pots? Check. A fighting game involving lovable characters and extendable arms? You've got it! Their most recent IP does a two-fold justice to the company. Not only showcasing their inherent creativity, but also the unfettered power of their newest console.

With your JoyCons or a few extra pairs, gather up to four of your friends for some knockout, splitscreen fun. This game will have you throwing literal punches across the battlefield, in two different ways. Take your built in JoyCon pair and use their motion controls to punch enemies with your own two hands, or share them with a buddy of yours to swing jabs in the traditional controller method. That way, with just an extra pair you can maximize your Switch’s multiplayer capabilities.

There’s a handful of cool characters you can try on, with a bunch of cooler arms to tinker with for every battle. Mix and match their extendable appendages, and find the best combination to bring your opponents down.

It’s a weird, yet creative take on the fighting genre that only Nintendo could ever pull off. Go play yourself another match! It has a playscore of 8.19

7. Fast RMX

An unexpected gift came for fans of F-Zero, care of the folks at Shin'en Multimedia. For anyone who's been helplessly waiting for years, this futuristic podracing game has everything you want in a F-Zero game, and more. Offering to fill that void in your hearts, this is an expanded version of the Wii U's Fast Racing Neo. This RMX edition includes all the tracks and DLC's of the original game, with six new additions, for a total of 30 tracks overall.

It brings the high octane speeds of its predecessor to the Switch, letting you indulge in their whiplash-inducing modes, beautifully rendered vehicles, and overall exhilarating gameplay. Putting aside the F-Zero similarities, RMX has a little feature that differentiates it from the rest, and gives it a new layer of depth. Speed past tracks and collect orbs to make use of color-coded boost strips littered around its stages.

The game also received a much needed graphical makeover with its jump to the Switch. Enjoy their collection of stunning landscapes with their 1080p resolutions in 60 frames per second.

Despite the positive reviews, it has also seen some criticisms because of its reported “lacking” online multiplayer that pits you against strangers, with no option to play with friends. However, developers assures that a patch is coming to improve it, along with an additional time attack mode. With competitive splitscreen and brutal hero mode challenges, you don’t have to look any further for that racing fix.

It receives a playscore of 8.3.

6. Snipperclips - Cut it out, together!

One of Switch's most beloved exclusives, SFB's Snipperclips is a cut above the rest with its unique puzzle mechanics that fits the social gaming vision of the portable console. Play as Snip and Clip and prove that two heads, or four, are better than one as you solve a variety of papercraft riddles.

While creativity is key for most puzzle games, the game takes that to a whole new level, giving you the freedom to cut through each other however you please. Overlap two areas, and snip away till you get your desired shapes. Pop some balloons, carry objects, and catch a few fireflies.

Other than its main world, it also offers a party mode that lets you work on puzzles together with up to four people, while Blitz Mode offers a more competitive atmosphere, shooting hoops in Basketball, and scoring goals in hockey.

Snipperclips doesn't exactly show off the power of the console, but it's one of the most unique and original games yet. With its vibrant colors, charming worlds, and adorable characters, it does a good job of engaging children and adults alike.

While not as expensive as other games in the Switch's lineup, it has been panned for a relative lack of content. You might be surprised to see you could complete their main puzzles in as much as three hours, with no rewards and extra content for replays. Be that as it may, it's still fantastically delightful and satisfyingly puzzling game.

It has a playscore of 8.36.

5. Splatoon 2

With the jawdropping success of their original game on the Wii U, it's no surprise that the Switch has geared us up for a revival on a modern classic. The battle between Inkling versus Inkling continues on as spatters of colored blots fill up your entire screen.

Making a splash on the hybrid console, the game offers a host of new features to enhance the ink-splatting misadventures. Enjoy a double dose of excitement with the dual splat option, or level up your skills with your powerful abilities and powerups.

But that's not all that changed in Inkopolis. Set 2 years after the first game, the squids have also come back with a collection of new weapons and gears, and a sweet fashion makeover. Return to their trademark tough turf wars and shoot it out in a gruelling 4v4 that's oozing with color and chaos. Take a splat with your ink-filled artillery and choose from its wide variety of memorable characters. This time, the territorial feud goes askew. Brotherhood and friendships will be tested, and families will be torn apart.

You'll also have a taste of a more personalized shooting experience with their improved motion controls. Decimate the opposition with your improved JoyCon aim, and watch them drown in the hues of courage and vengeance. It also offers a new mode called Salmon Run that lets you team up with friends to survive an Onslaught of Salmonids.

There’s a whole lotta things to love about the newest Splatoon, and we talk about in more detail with our latest gameplay linked below. It has a playscore of 8.4.

4. Puyo Puyo Tetris

An unlikely combination of two iconic arcade games, SEGA's Puyo Puyo teams up with the ever popular Tetris to create another fast-paced couch multiplayer for the Switch. This game is for anyone who either needs a two-fold nostalgic treatment, or a light and colorful challenge.

Go on Arcade Sprees by yourself in its single player adventure mode or drop blocks and blobs with friends in a variety of multiplayer game modes. Go 1v1 in the intense versus mode where you pile up combos and tetris lines to send an enormous garbage their way. Or you could tackle the arcade-switching Swap Mode that makes you play both Puyo and Tetris at the same time, or the hybrid fusion challenge, or the lightning fast Big Bang mode for some next level competition.

Check in on your ranks in the online leaderboards, and beat thousands of other players in this hearty battle of bubbles and lines. Even with the game's simplicity, the variety of game modes ensures it a high level of replayability for you and your friends to enjoy. With both online, local, and solo gameplays covered, it's a worthy addition to anyone's collection.

This game’s weird mixture kind of worked, and there’s no denying that. It has a playscore of 8.4

3. Disgaea 5 Complete

With Nintendo Switch finally giving us a way to play console quality games on the go, Nippon Ichi Software took their sixth Disgaea title to the portable hemisphere. Since its release on the PS4 in 2015, it has proven itself worthy of the attention as an addicting, and silly, strategy RPG. Now, with their port to the Switch, you'll be able to enjoy its tactical depth, as well as its laugh, wherever you go. Combining all their DLC releases into one definitive package, this complete edition includes all 8 bonus scenarios, 3 character classes, and the four additional fan-favorites.

If you're not familiar with the series, it follows the tale of Kilia--a demon out in a quest for vengeance against the Netherworld Emperor Void Dark. Fighting against the Void Dark's army of one million, the overworld lords have come together--given life and personality by its outstanding voice actors. Despite its complex and dark themes, it maintains a cool and humorous atmosphere complete with clever dialog and banter. It's one of the things that made the series popular in the first place.

While it wasn't much to look at on the PS4, it seems Disgaea has made quite a graphical improvement with its move to the Switch. With the PS4's 1080p visuals, Disgaea 5 rendering looked drab and almost outdated. But, running in its native 720p on the Switch's portable mode, it received an instantaneous pop of color and sharpness.

Reunite with your favorite lords, and relive the joys of this wacky strategy. It has a playscore of 8.43.

2. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

The most adorable racing game has made a mad dash to Nintendo's newest platform to bring their own brand unmitigated fun and disaster. While it might be a little disappointing not to have a whole new title for the Switch, it looks like this beautiful remaster has been a productive one at least. The most renowned Mario Kart to date brings in more surprises in the form of new features, characters, and improved battle modes.

Unlike the Wii U Original, players can now hold two items at once for twice as much high-speed chaos. And that's just the beginning. Other than the standard 1080p resolution upgrade that's expected of all games, it also has a new smart-steering feature, making handling much easier for beginners and veteran racers alike.Ride along new courses like Urchin Underpass and Battle Stadium, along with new appearances from King Boo, Dry Bones, the Inklings, and so much more.

Originally criticized for the boring online battle mode, this deluxe packs huge changes to the mode, giving it a whole new lease on life. With 5 new game modes and eight custom arenas, there's plenty more room to ballon bomb your friends for hours on end.

So grab your nifty Joy-Cons and set the pedal to the metal. It has a playscore of 9.13

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

As if anything could rival the sheer majesty of Nintendo’s latest Legend of Zelda title. Five months after the Switch’s launch, and after its breathtaking debut, Breath of Wild remains the primary game for the console. While it might be a good thing that Breath of the Wild, with its maddening perfection, has outclassed every release since its premiere, it might also be a cause for concern. However you take it, it’s obvious that this game is an absolute delight. Almost a year of waiting, and it did not disappoint at all.

Travel to the lush greens of the post-apocalyptic Hyrule where, bound by destiny, Link wakes up from to find Kings, Queens, Champions, and kingdoms have fallen. Follow him as he fulfills the prophecies once more to stop the evils of Calamity ganon.

In the first ever Zelda game to offer an open-ended experience, roam around its vast open world in a quest for discovery and answers. Do whatever you want, whenever you want, but don’t expect it to be another cakewalk. With magnets, time-stoppers, bombs, and much more, creativity is definitely a plus. Experiment with each of their effects, and use them to solve puzzles in new, unexpected ways.

Widely acclaimed across rating platforms and review sites, Breath of the Wild has been pegged as this year’s Game of the Year. And there’s no denying that possibility.
10. The Golf Club

However unexpected, golf games have now found themselves a staple in the videogame industry. Jumping on EA's loosened monopoly on golf games, HB Studios released their own take on the sport. With a focus on simulation, Golf Club offers a comforting realism in both visuals and physics.

Practice your swings, learn how to putt, and become the master golfer in this side of town. Much like the old arcade games, Golf Club doesn't offer any gimmicks. Without leveling systems or flashy swing assists, you'll have to rely on your own skills and calculations to get those elusive birdies. Experiment with your own strategies to decipher the best clubs and swings to use, according to the wind direction and distance.

Stripped back to the core mechanics, its ultimately a straightforward game that lets you bask in the intricacies of golf, providing diehard fans of the sport with a faithful and authentic experience.

It has a playscore of 8.17

9. WRC 5: FIA World Rally Championship

Cashing in on the exhilarating breeze of Rally Games, the World Racing Championship has given the world with yet another worthwhile videogame for all the challenge-seeking players out there. The official title of the biggest international rallying championship, this racing game offers plenty of surprises, with hundreds of licenses, a handful of beautiful locales, and a whole lot of white-knuckling fun. Speed past high cliffs, take those risky corners and manage through the grueling art of rally racing.

While it's not as accurate a simulator as the recent Codemasters' DiRT series, WRC 5 gives us a taste of the action with their arcade-style gameplay, forgiving terrain, and friendly controls. It's this easy-to-pick up style that makes it the perfect introduction for neophyte racers.

The game has received mixed reviews at best, though, thanks to framerate drops, clunky handling models. It has a playscore of 8.26

8. Powerstar Golf

In a square off against Sony's Everybody's Golf series, the Xbox One is definitely on par with the competition. Steering away from the cutesy animal visuals and opting for the more western, cartoony look--Powerstar Golf shows off its animated movie like characters that really seem to fit into their superpowered performances.

Other than the relaxing tranquility of the traditional golf game, it also has a whole lineup of characters with their own unique skills and personalities, taking the sport to a whole new level of excitement.

The courses themselves might not be any special, but it ensures that there's never a subpar moment as you shoot for birdies with your special moves, take bonuses from your caddies, and gain experience for each one of your actions. Those three mechanics form an impeccable trio that creates an overall addictive gameplay experience that lets you sink holes, hours, and more holes.

It has a playscore of 8.5

7. F1 2016

After the seemingly rushed F1 2015, our 2nd place entry is Codemaster returning to grace and form. Live out your formula one dreams and become a racing legend in a career mode that’s teeming with content. Develop your car and career, along with agents, and your team of engineers.

Whether on the track or out, it delivers unbelievable immersion, packed with all the behind-the-scenes drama. There’s a lot of hard decisions to make. With the last lap looming in the distance, will you finally listen to Jeff, your racing engineer, as he warns you about an imminent danger? Or will you shut him up with your voice commands, and take that risky dive?

It’s lauded by many as one of the best formula one games yet, and it probably will be for a very long time. It has a playscore of 8.34

6. EA Sports UFC 2

Create your very own fighter and pit them against over 250 talented MMA icons in a variety of game modes--taking them through the ranks in Career mode or playing against decks in Ultimate mode.

Work on your timings, throw in some spinning kicks, and bring your opponents down each and every time. It has a playscore of 8.72.

5. FIFA ‘17

EA’s most ambitious FIFA game to date. Powered by the Frostbite Engine, witness one of the most popular sports game ever.

It’s also the first game of the series to include a story mode. Take the role of Alex Hunter and experience his journey to become the best Football Player in the world. Choices will be similar to Mass Effect’s dialogue wheel and will determine your career progression along the way. If not for choices, then the skills you develop will change the course of his path.

On top of that, EA’s efforts in the game’s visual design, realistic graphics, and fluid physics movements make the game so fun to play. It has a playscore of 8.86

4. NHL ‘16

Return to the ice rink in EA’s annual hockey game. The amalgamation of speed, skill, physicality, and precision comes to life on the frozen floor. This game strides for a major comeback after ‘15’s shallow experience. And yes, it looks like they did it right this time.

The game includes enough mode to keep you at the edge of your seat with a friend or two. Go on 6 versus 6 matches, experience On-Ice Training, or be a GM and lead your team to perfection. If the glory isn’t enough, shape your legacy in Be a Pro Mode. There’s more stuff to do this time, and more modes to play.

Unfortunately, it was heavily criticized for its online issues and repetitive commentating. Nonetheless, it’s an excellent game that still continues to improve itself. Let’s hope NHL ‘18 goes bigger!

NHL ‘16 has a playscore of 8.94

3. NBA 2K15

When the ball is life, 2K’s annual basketball game always delivers. Although its latest entry, 2K18, proves greater, this game managed to dominate among all the NBA titles. For starters, it was the evolution of 2K to adapt to the new generation platforms. Offering crisp HD textures and realistic physics.

NBA 2K15 returns with their signature Career Mode. Create your own customizable character and help him become the best player of all time. Simulate events, create your own team, or just enjoy the life of an actual NBA player.

However good the game is, it’s marred with performance and technical issues during their first release. But that was almost 3 years ago and it’s safe to say that the game has improved over the years.

It receives a playscore of 8.98

2. Madden NFL ‘16

There's more testosterone-pumping action in the most definitive Madden NFL yet. Far from just another roster update, EA raised the bar with its elevated gameplay mechanics and new game modes that make for a complete football experience.

It improves on passing mechanics to give way to a variety of playstyles. If not for being the most realistic football game, it’s also the most ambitious. Create heightened strategic plays with aggressive catches and run-after catches, or take on a greater challenge in its new Draft Champions mode.

It’s a total game-changer for the football enthusiast with their improved visuals and the increase in risk and reward. Madden 2017 may have been good, but it doesn’t capture much of this game’s improvements. Let’s hope that Madden 2017 will raise the bar higher.

It has a playscore of 9.08

Here are the runners-up before we reveal the number one:

11. Pro Evolution Soccer 2016

Considered by many as the best football game ever made. Culminating years of improvements, it receives a playscore of 8

Their latest iteration, enjoy a fully immersive experience with updated graphics, and 2 stroke biking. It has a playscore of 7.69

And the best sports game on the Xbox One so far is:

1. Rocket League

Compared to most the games on this list, this one isn’t entirely in league with massive sponsors and popular players. They’re just a bunch of futuristic cars trying to use the power of physics to score a goal. Taking inspiration from football and added it with a wild blend of silliness, creating a fun multiplayer experience.

Destruction aside, embrace a high-octane, high-flying action with you and your friends as you put your steering skills to maximum overdrive. Its season mode offers a single-player experience for the lonely players, but if you want more of the action, go on a team-based competition with friends locally and online. Its cross-play feature increases the range of more players, giving Xbox One and PlayStation 4 a chance to coexist together.

Aside from that, the split-screen mode offers a fun addition for players who want to create a party experience with your friends.

Customize your car, unlock items, find the perfect skin, and watch your creation dominate the arena. It has a playscore of 9.17

Top 25 Upcoming Xbox One Games for 2018

Check out our full list of the best city-building games for the PC.

10. Cities XL

Yes, it wasn’t a very good game, to begin with. But amidst the massive backlash, it’s still a City Building game worthy to sink some of your time in. Instead of the usual little metropolis, you create with Cities Skylines, Monte Cristo's Cities XL grants you an extra-large world for you to play god in mayoral position.

Link up cities, expand, and shape a world like never before. The game contains over 1,000 buildings, 50 brand new structures, 60 gigantic maps, and a gorgeous detailed world to tweak.

As the mayor, solve the city’s various concerns such as economics, transportation, finances and so much more. Take note that once the city grows, it requires more maintenance and the problems go bigger every day. But that’s not a problem, with your thriving community, all is well. Except MAYBE for the game’s numerous game-breaking bugs and unresponsive UI’s. Just give it a try.

It has a playscore of 6.44

9. ANNO 2205

Take civilization to the next frontier. Expanding its reach like never before, Bluebyte's Anno 2205 is a futuristic entry from the notable Anno franchise, go into the 23rd Century and develop your very own civilization. Nourish them through different biomes and manage each the city’s problems in rich topological climates. You can even rebuild an entire colony to the Moon!

Similar to most Anno games, conquer the Earth and beyond with the gift of industrialization and economics. With its futuristic setting, experience scientific breakthroughs that make everyday living easier.

From the Earth to the Moon, basking in its hours and hours of content with wonderful visuals and complex strategic depth. However, due to its performance issues and a weak single-player campaign, it was bogged down from becoming a perfect city-building game compared to its predecessor 2070.

It receives a playscore of 6.57

8. Aven Colony

Mothership's Aven Colony manages to create a unique ecosystem of science fiction wonder, unlike the Earth and Moon areas compared to most of the games on this list. The extraterrestrial flora and fauna makes up for a very interesting synergy between city-building and the survival of the human race. Think of it as SimCity in space.

In this alien-planet light-years away from Earth, players must nourish the human race and help them adapt to the many problems this planet can offer. Protect your species by adapting to the environment, conserving oxygen, and multi-task using various resource-producing buildings.

But despite its many praises, the game was criticized for its heavy chore-work. For a game about casual city-building, it seems like busywork when it comes to its various multi-tasking tendencies. It wasn’t for everyone, but it’s still a fun game to try.

It receives a playscore of 6.62

7. Anno 2070

Ubisoft’s and Related Design's pioneering city-building game takes the effects of Global Warming into a creative way. Although climate change is still bad, step into Earth, a once beautiful planet filled with green fields and sun-soaked beaches, but with the rising water levels causes some land uninhabitable.

Master the art of diplomacy, resource-collecting, and trade in Ubisoft’s most comprehensive economic management game yet. Shape the world of tomorrow by constructing buildings that transcend modern architectural feats and experience the evolving nature of a changing world.

Explore the vast depths of the ocean, or focus your energies on land. Mysteries are lurking all around the sunken Earth, from the deep dark abyss to the bustling metropolis surrounded by glass walls.

It was Anno 2205’s predecessor, but it’s still better in comparison. The game was praised for the number of things you could do but since it’s a Ubisoft game, much of its criticisms were pointed at its terrible Uplay system.

It has a playscore of 7.15

6. Caesar IV

Let’s head back for a few decades. Before there were any of these games on our list, there was Tilted Mill Entertainment’s Roman city-building game. The technology wasn’t very smooth during this point but it was created on an engine that renders three-dimensional animations individually. It’s one of the stepping stones to the future of city simulations.

Embrace the accurately depicted beauty of the classic Roman architectures because it's a product of Sierra Game’s dedication for research. Experience life in Ancient Rome and expand your economic control with over 30 tradeable goods, 10 industries, 4 markets, and foreign trade routes.

The game has over 100 hours of gameplay. Secure your civilization by controlling your Legions, or focus on your city-planning and infrastructure woes.

You can’t beat the classics, and this game has a playscore of 7.44

5. Tropico 5

Before El Presidente's scheduled return was announced last E3, Tropico 5 was the latest title in the well-loved city-building series. Known for its warm, friendly, and fun gameplay, the series offered a welcome change to the optimization-crazed builders of its time. But in this fifth installment, the beloved dictator is bringing the tropical heat to an all-time high, taking management up a notch, and adding a healthy dose of challenge.

Unlike their previous titles, 5 takes on a more Civilization route as you begin your dictatorial journey at the dawn of the 20th century. With this, it not only improves on gameplay but also on their signature tongue-in-cheek politics.

Move from era to era; supplying weapons for the World Wars, assassinating rivals, alienating whole groups of people, and other fun and lighthearted totalitarian activities. With their era-exclusive buildings and risky decision-making, you'll actually have to BECOME a dictator to survive the tides of time.

While it's a lot different than their usual fare, it's still fun, interesting, and hysterically political, it has a playscore of 7.59.

4. Banished

A city-builder with a strong blend of survival, Banished brings the best of both worlds. An indie game by Shining Rock Software, it rose up to the top of the charts when it released last 2014, and it still currently maintains its thriving community of fans.

Like what the title suggests, Banished puts you in charge of a remote community of outcasts, operating at an individual level instead of state affairs. Assign your citizens into specific jobs, and use them to funnel resources into the town. As a product of its survival elements, the game puts a premium on the products you collect. It gets especially difficult with slow-growing trees, breakable tools, and the ravages of the winter season. Manage your resources carefully, make your citizens happy, or risk the death of hundreds.

While it's arguably more survival than city-builder, Banished is said to be a great change of pace. Take off the godly omnipotence, and prepare for humbling management experience. It has a playscore of 8.1.

3. Tropico 3

The third in the Tropico series, and the first game handled by Haemimont Games. Having had a rich background in historical games, Tropico 3 was the perfect game to begin their run in the franchise. Set in the eponymous Caribbean isle, play as the fascist El President as he attempts to bring his people through the struggles of the Cold War. With their setting, you'll have to manage your controversial diplomatic relations, along with micromanaging your growing city.

Aiming to revitalize the charm of the original Tropico games, this third title offers a balanced perspective on the dictatorship. Your choices have a direct impact on the citizens, and they're not always good. The game has 7 different factions vying for your attention, each with their own interests to take care of. Juggle each of their demands to retain your position of power...or put for authoritarian foot down and show them who's boss.

Praised for its fantastic soundtrack and improved visuals, it receives a playscore of 8.23.

2. Tropico 4

Built using the same engine, UI, models, and voices as the previous title, it's easy to say that this 4th installment is essentially the same game with a different coat of paint. But this title managed to edge out the competition by improving on many of the franchise' core elements, topping it all off with a handful of expansions that add new elements to the political and technical gameplay. Return (again) as the customizable El Presidente, and prepare to face a new array of problems and obstacles.

Providing intricate optimizations while keeping the outrageous charm of the original, it serves as an excellent middle ground between the two Haemimont productions. Rule the island with clichéd iron fist, or become a benevolent people pleaser--anything to achieve the status of an economic powerhouse. It's this choice of gameplay that makes the game stand out, putting political twists on the usual city building.

Listen to advisors, manipulate nations, manage the economy, and build, build, build. With its addicting gameplay, the game will keep you coming back for more despotic conquests. Play it, and that’s an order! It has a playscore of 8.42.

1. Cities Skylines

Considered one of the greatest achievements in the City Building genre in the last decade, Cities Skylines is a masterclass in style and simulation. Developed by Colossal Order, the game was responsible for bringing a host of new features and gameplay elements that adds even more realism to the overwhelming thought of managing a whole city on your own. Take up the mantle of Mayor and watch the town come alive as buses full of new citizens drive-in with all sorts of needs, wants, and stories.

Just like real life, planning is an essential part of building efficiency. With traffic playing a key part in development, plan your roads properly to ferry all citizens and services to their destinations with relative ease. Connect them to powerlines, set up water supplies, and watch it grow into a bustling metropolis that holds even more challenges to overcome. Manage education levels, leisure, criminal rates, and jobs, and so much more. With citizens voicing out their opinions in real-time, you'll have a better feel of how you're doing as a Mayor.

The game has an active modding community that continues to improve the experience and make it grow even better with age--especially, along with a handful of new expansions. It has a playscore of 8.82.

Showcasing the best of the city-building genre on the PC; these are the highest-rated titles for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux devices.

10. Astro Boy Dash

Considered as the first popular anime, there’s no better way to start off this list than with the beloved robot. Starting off as a Manga from Osamu Tezuka, the afternoon cartoon is now at the tip of our fingers--in the form of an adorable, and surprisingly complex endless runner. Released in celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Animoca production is a fitting tribute, packed with Tezuka's familiar characters.

In this new adventure, it seems our little Atom has grown bored of the Professor's lectures. Help him run away from his daily routine, and find excitement in the perilous streets. Animoca's Astro Boy Dash plays a lot like traditional runners, but instead of just taps and swipes, you'll have to tilt your device to avoid obstacles and collect coins and powerups. While it adds a new layer of complexity, it has been criticized for its rather unintuitive controls.

Despite that, the game definitely succeeds in terms of visuals--managing to capture the colorful atmosphere of the original anime. It's not the Astro Boy we loved, but it's a good enough runner.

It has a playscore of 7.16.

9. DRAGON BALL Z DOKKAN BATTLE

No anime list would be complete without an appearance from Dragonball's super fighters. A Bandai Namco creation, Dokkan Battle is a little different from their usual fighting games. While there's still some Saiyan versus Saiyan action to be had, it's actually a puzzle adventure game, letting you play around in a universe distorted by time. Accompanying you in this quest is, of course, the iconic characters of the series.

Similar to Japan's popular Puzzle & Dragons game, Dokkan battle is a mix of RPG, puzzles, and board games. Form the ultimate team of Dragonball superstars, navigate through hundreds of levels, and get a chance to defeat the most terrifying villains from the anime. The fights are just as frenetic as the series, with lightning-fast action and smooth animations. Strengthen your chosen allies, and fight your way to the top of the leaderboards.

With hundreds of characters and set in their memorable arenas, Dokkan Battle provides fans of the anime with a worthy nostalgic trip. It has a playscore of 7.31.

8. Phantom Of The Kill

Most Android games have adapted to the Anime Genre, and from the looks of it, they managed to capture some of its essences. The folks at Gumi give you an adventure that captures the magic from the Fire Emblem series and added it with their own mobile flavor.

Though it’s not really anime, it’s filled with the cliches of Japanese animation culture. The developers created an anime called Zero’s Rebellion and fans of the game are itching for a full-length series! Its story revolves around Levaeatein and her quest to regain her memories.

Gameplay is inspired by Square Enix’s critically acclaimed Fire Emblem series. Players are placed in a grid-based arena surrounded by enemies. Choose from its 50 unit types, six main weapons, and form a perfect party. Lead them to victory and watch the story unfold before your eyes.

7. Pokemon GO

After Niantic’s success with their very own AR game called Ingress, it’s Augmented Reality systems have evolved seamlessly over the years. Now with The Pokemon Company’s support, together they made a mobile game that captured decades of childhood fantasies coming to life.

Pokemon GO is the next step for AR, it wasn’t perfect, yes, but it gained a massive following after its launch. Causing regular people to step out of their homes and catch these adorable Pokemon with a phone in hand.

Join a Guild, go on a Gym Battle, collect Legendaries or simply walk around and wait for your egg to hatch. There are so many things to do this little game. Server issues aside, Niantic isn’t stopping with their continuous updates and enhancements. Just recently, they added a new Raid feature for players who want to catch that Legendary Pokemon strolling in the middle of the road. Just make sure you’re careful!

6. Chrono Strike

Anyone who played One Finger Death Punch will probably recognize the gameplay in this arcade fighting game from Gosu Group. Heavily inspired by the compelling OFDP's compelling battles, Chrono Strike ups the ante with its sci-fi setting and lush 3D visuals. Put yourself in the shoes of a cybernetic heroine and use your powerful punches to defeat a swarm of robotic menaces.

Choose from five different characters, and navigate over 100 unique levels. A brawler with a dash of survival, your chosen character will usually stay in the center of your screen. Punch every enemy that gets close, or be punished by crippling vulnerabilities. While it does get harder in higher levels, the game does take a while to get going, giving you quite a number of unnecessary introduction levels. Master the strengths of your hero, and equip them with an array of exciting upgrades.

While not necessarily an anime, Chrono Strike has plenty of striking visual animations that capture the essence of the art style. Sure, it’s not as energetic as their inspiration, but it makes for a decent substitute.

Remaining true to his anime roots, the game takes on the joys of the hack and slash genre that's beautifully portrayed with their signature eye-popping visuals. And while it adheres to the free to play model, Brave Souls seems to veer from its annoying cliches by giving players almost a full experience of the game. With little to no paywalls to encounter, this Bleach adaptation already scored a huge win on the mobile masses.
