Hauma - A Detective Noir Story: Step into the Shadows on Switch and PC this Fall

Japanese developer Pocketpair announced that the Seamless World Update for the open-world survival game Craftopia would go live next month, in June.

After over a year of development, we are finally ready to announce that the Seamless Update, the biggest update ever for Craftopia, will release in June 2023, Pocketpair's press release said.

Much of the Seamless World Update is based on the feedback that the studio has received since launching Craftopia on Early Access in 2022. The update will bring many changes, ranging from "radical" to "improvements," they added.

We took your warm requests seriously and steadily revised the game point by point, Pocketpair explained. Developers took more than a year to create the Seamless World Update. Some of its highlights included larger maps and more biomes to explore. They also promised to improve combat systems and mechanics.

Pocketpair also published a teaser for the Seamless World Update on YouTube. The video showed new locations, mobs, challenges, and in-game activities.

The Seamless World Update will introduce crafting, mining, hunting, and looting. Players can also deploy machine-powered weapons during battle.

Craftopia was released for PC in 2020. Pocketpair then ported it to the Xbox One and Series X|S a year later. The game received generally positive reviews from gamers. However, they hit the game's apparent poor quality-of-life.

The developers initially planned on providing updates daily. But they dropped it, saying that the approach was unsustainable. As we continued to improve the game, there were many problems that we just couldn't solve in the short term, so we took some time off and worked hard to make the game the best it could be, they said.

Craftopia to Release Newest Major Update this June

The Outlast Trials, the third title in the popular indie survival-horror series Outlast, has been released. Developers from Red Barrels launched The Outlast Trials in Early Access mode on May 18 (Canada time). Players can get the game on Steam and the Epic Games Store for $29.99.

Philippe Morin, the co-founder of Red Barrels, said they look forward to what players have to say in the latest installment of the Outlast games. We're eager to see and hear how Reagents (players) perform in Murkoff's experimental program during The Outlast Trials Early Access, said Morin.

Similar to its predecessors, players in The Outlast Trials do not have any combat skills. They can only hide or escape from enemies from a first-person perspective. The new game, however, introduces a co-op mode, giving players the choice to form a team.

This time, (players) can choose to play on (their) own or with friends in a team of up to four people, the developers added. According to Morin, The Outlast Trials is the most ambitious project yet for Red Barrels. The Outlast Trials is our most challenging production and we'll continue developing the game until we feel the game delivers our initial vision, he said.

The Montreal-based indie game development team first announced its development in 2017. At that time, they had just launched Outlast 2.

They dropped several teaser videos and a closed beta test in the following years. Last March, they announced releasing an Early Access version in May. Red Barrels said players can expect more content in the coming days.

Feedback from players throughout Early Access is key to us delivering a more refined and balanced game, added Morin.

The Outlast Trials is a Cold War-themed first-person psychological horror survival game. Players take on the role of test subjects whom the Murkoff Corporation has kidnapped and subjected to several psychiatric experiments. To escape the facility and avoid the horrors that lurk within, players must use stealth, cunning, and whatever resources they can find.

Based on the game's Steam page, the developers have yet to set a specific timeline for the game's Early Access mode. However, they hoped to release the full version within the year.

Red Barrels also planned to port The Outlast Trials to consoles. However, the studio has yet to reveal more information about it.

This will allow players to enjoy maps from both games.

Developers said the upcoming content update is their way of saying "thank you" to gamers and fans who have shown their support through the years. It's a special milestone to celebrate with our players and bring so many exciting crossover maps and features into both games for everyone to enjoy... Here's to another 10 years of Mini, said Ben Emerson, Marketing Coordinator at Dinosaur Polo Club.

The "Miniversary" celebration contains six "crossover locations." Mini Metro and Mini Motorways will each receive three maps. For Mini Motorways, it will be New York City, London, and Mumbai. Meanwhile, Tokyo, Warsaw, and Lisbon are making their way to Mini Metro.

The Big Apple emerged as the winner in a community-based voting event held in 2022. It asked players which locations from Mini Metro they would like to play for Mini Motorways.

Developers also announced that Mini Motorways would finally have a train system, a highly requested feature. I think players will really like the addition of trains into Mini Motorways too, said Emerson. It's been a long time coming, and this has felt like the perfect time to introduce such a highly requested new feature to this game, he added.

Development for Mini Metro, a game where players manage some of the world's famous subway systems, began in 2012. Dinosaur Polo Club released the game's full version in 2015.

Mini Metro garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success upon its release. Whatoplay awarded it a playscore of 8.8. Following its triumph, its successor, Mini Motorways, was introduced to the gaming world in 2019. In Mini Motorways, players take on the role of managing road traffic and networks.

According to Dinosaur Polo Club, the two games already have a combined player base of around 12 million.
