The Brazil-based game-developing company announced that they will expand Deathbound to consoles. In particular, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

"We’re thrilled to announce that Deathbound will be launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S day-in-date with PC," developers wrote on Steam.

<img src="https://cdn2.whatoplay.com/news/deathboundscreenshot1.webp" alt="Deathbound Screenshot">

TrialForge has also partnered with Polish publisher Tate Multimedia for the game's launch. A release date has yet to be revealed. But creators said the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/upcoming/">upcoming PS5</a> and Xbox Series X game will be rolled out the title 'later this year.'

Deathbound promises to bring a new take in the souls-like genre. Instead of a single hero, players will have a team of four characters at their disposal.

"Our game was designed to be an innovation within the souls-like genre," developers said. "With this feature, you can change warriors from your party at any moment – even during combat and dodging," they added.

The game's lore takes place in the world of Ziêminal, where faith and science clash in a never-ending struggle. While in the middle of a crusade, players find themselves in the city of Akratya. There, they will uncover the story behind the seven Fallen Warriors, whom the players can take control.

<img src="https://cdn2.whatoplay.com/news/deathboundscreenshot2.webp" alt="Deathbound Screenshot">

According to developers, the key to victory during battles lies in the players' ability to assemble their party of Fallen Warriors. Deathbound's core gameplay revolves around strategic switching between these bound souls mid-combat. And each Fallen Warrior not only has unique combat styles, skills, but also motivations.

Relationships among the Fallen Warriors can also influence gameplay, developers added.

"Each party member’s affiliation in life will affect their synergy in death," they said.

Meanwhile, TrialForge has already launched a demo version for Deathbound. Players eager to experience the game can access its demo on <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/1277130">Steam</a>.

Bleak Faith: Forsaken first debuted on PC in March 2023. Aside from RPG elements, the game also features open-world and survival horror designs. Prior to its release, the three-man team of Archangel promised to introduce a game that combines 'brutal combat, exploration, and oppressive atmosphere.'

On whatoplay, the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/2023/">2023 PC title</a> currently has a playscore of 7.2.

In the game, players find themselves in the ruins of a fallen civilization called the Omnistructure. They must guide their cyborg hero to survive in a world full of monstrous beings twisted by a mysterious force.

<img src="https://cdn2.whatoplay.com/news/bleakfaithscreenshot1.webp" alt="Bleak Faith: Forsaken Screenshot">

Upon its release, many gamers and critics agreed that Bleak Faith: Forsaken has the potential to become a big, indie contender in the souls-like genre. However, they pointed out that the game still needed further development.

Bleak Faith: Forsaken received praise for its visuals, designs, and atmospheric experience. However, it fell short in terms of the quality of its gameplay. Some critics even criticized it as nothing but a 'window dressing' with broken souls-like mechanics.

Since then, its developers have rolled out numerous updates. These ranged from fixing bugs to improving the game's overall features. They also launched new contents and even a new mode - a co-op multiplayer.

Presumably, the console versions will launch with all the balance changes, bug fixes, and additional content released on PC. This means console players may have access to a richer, more refined experience from day one.

The Night of the Rabbit Gets Ported for Switch

A brand new indie title that blends platforming with mountain climbing mechanics just made its debut.

Called <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/surmount/">Surmount</a>, it is a game that promises to offer a refreshing take on the nature climbing genre. Surmount was developed by indie developers Jasper Oprel and Indiana-Jonas. The <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/new/">new Switch game</a> hit devices on May 2.

Surmount takes players on a perilous ascent up the slopes of Mount Om. There, players will find themselves in a world full of hand-crafted challenges. As well as procedurally generated surprises.

The game also promises to break away from the 'sometimes-punishing' nature of climbing simulators. Surmount, according to its press kit, offers an "approachable physics-based climbing system."

This means players can focus on the joy of the climb itself, in their own pace. The game also gives them enough room to experiment with different techniques and find their own unique style to conquer the mountain.

The journey up Mount Om isn't just about the climb itself. Players will encounter a colorful cast of characters along the way. Each has their own motivations for reaching the summit. These "eccentric folks" add a layer of humor and intrigue to the adventure.
Surmount supports <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/best/single-player/">single-player</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/local-coop/">local co-op</a> modes.

The origins of Surmount began during the pandemic. The idea of a new, mountain-climbing game started in a virtual session of Animal Crossing, one of the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/best/2020/">best Switch games of 2020</a>. Programmer Jasper Oprel and artist Indiana-Jonas' vision eventually impressed publishers. The prototype of what would become Surmount also became the first recipient of funding from the Dutch Midgame Fund.

The Dutch Midgame Fund is a program dedicated to supporting promising mid-sized game development projects.

Aside from Switch devices, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/surmount-a-mountain-climbing-adventure/">Surmount</a> can also be played on PC via Windows and macOS. It will carry a price tag of US$ 14.99. /

Unleash Your Inner Chef: Tokyo Cooking Coming to Switch

A new shooter-looter is coming to town. And it is where players will find themselves facing the harsh winter.

Fun Dog Studios, a new game development company formed by industry veterans behind games like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/horizon-zero-dawn/">Horizon Zero Dawn</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/doom-eternal/">Doom Eternal</a>, revealed its debut project - <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-forever-winter/">The Forever Winter</a>. A coop-survival shooter, it throws players not only into the middle of a biting winter. But also in a world where colossal war machines fight against each other.

Miles Williams, CEO and Creative Director of Fun Dog Studios, said the game emphasizes survival. It is also aimed to 'redefine victory as survival', he said.

"The Forever Winter throws you into a meat grinder and forces you to adapt. Battles are brutal, and death is a harsh teacher. You'll need to work together, prioritize stealth, and leverage the environment to your advantage," he added.

The game has yet to come up with a release window. In the meantime, its creators published a gameplay trailer, revealing the progress they made so for the upcoming game.

<div class="video-responsive">
 <iframe width="1015" height="579" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/X9kQGJ4cVRw" title="The Forever Winter - Gameplay Reveal" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

A squad of up to four players or AI companions must explore and survive a world locked in a relentless PvEvE conflict. This means enemies are not mindless drones. Based on the snippets of in-game footage shown in its trailer, foes engage in large-scale battles against each other. As a result, they will respond to the players' reactions in unpredictable ways.

In terms of survival, the stakes are also high. Once a squad falls, the team loses everything they scavenged and looted. Upon respawn, they must start from scratch. This in turn will encourage players to look for more resources and craft their loadout strategically.

The Forever Winter will launch on PC, according to Fun Dog Studios. However, they also revealed plans to port the game to consoles, the outcome of which will rely on community feedback. / ###
