Last week Ubisoft Forward Conference showcased a Gameplay Walkthrough for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This upcoming installment of the series immerses players into the warring states of 16th-century Japan.

The 13-minute video takes place in the castle town of Fukuchiyama in the Tamba Province. The two protagonists Naoe and Yasuke are hunting down a corrupted daimyo. The video teased the ability to switch between the two characters. This mechanic highlights the dual protagonist formula Ubisoft attempts to achieve since Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

Unlike Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Assassin’s Creed Shadows lets players switch characters at any time. This encourages a dynamic gameplay experience as they traverse around Japan’s vibrant open-world.

Naoe is essentially the option for stealth runs. She embodies the essence of a Shinobi Assassin. Players use her versatile grappling hook that allows for mobility and stealthier air assassinations. She is a great option for players who take their time and leave no traces behind.

She also has access to a diverse arsenal of tools to strike from the shadows. Apart from her Grappling Hook, her Kunai is equally as important. It is designed to destroy sources of light or for those sneaky headshots.

Yasuke, on the other hand, is tailored for direct confrontations. He relies on his exceptional combat skills and mastery of Samurai weaponry. His melee options are his Katana capable decisive strikes and the Kanabo, a huge club built for raw power. He can also engage enemies from a distance with his Teppo, a lethal flint rifle.

His playstyle is designed for players who prefer to take the battles head-on. Like Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima, he can take down multiple groups of people with ease.

Twitter users were excited to see how it inspired Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ style.

This is the first time Assassin’s Creed featured two distinct protagonists unlike its predecessors. This unique mechanic makes use of their varied mix of skills and weapons to tackle situations and face enemies in different ways.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to release on November 15 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Mac and PC. Players who purchase the Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition, Collector Edition, or with a Ubisoft+ Premium subscription can play the game three days early.
