- Yoshi’s Woolly World isn’t like other platforming games. It’s not even like most of Nintendo’s own platformers, and it’s important to understand that before taking the plunge. It’s a game that, while increasingly difficult, is never designed to really test the player; instead, it seeks to envelop you in soft, cozy visuals, calming, delightful music, and ceaseless, smile-inducing creativity.
Dermot Creegan · Nov 05, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Whether you love the Yoshi franchise or are new to it, without a doubt I would recommend Yoshi’s Woolly World. The game has so many unique levels, the mini games are fun, there’s plenty of challenge and challenges to be found in every level (especially with all the item collecting), adding up to tons of fun and replay value.
Christian Chiok · Oct 23, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - I’m really liking the idea of a “spiritual” series of yarn-based games, and would love to see more Nintendo properties go the same route as Epic Yarn and Woolly World. That said, they need to bring a little extra freshness of their own rather than walk over familiar ground, because this highly promising idea already runs the risk of submerging into mediocrity.
Jim Sterling · Oct 22, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Yoshi’s Woolly World is Nintendo doing what Nintendo does best; create a colorful world full of precision that spans generations. I loved it, my son adores it, and gamers everywhere will not be able to play it without smiling. Nothing about it changes the genre for better or worse, but that doesn’t change the fact that Nintendo still makes some of the best games out there.
Ken McKown · Oct 21, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - If you're looking for a super-hardcore platforming experience from top to bottom, Yoshi's Woolly World probably isn't for you. If, however, you want to explore a fantastically realized world that gradually ramps up its challenge and contains new delights around every corner, don't hesitate to pick it up. It's the best Yoshi game in years, it's perfect for solo play or a leisurely afternoon with a friend, and it's so stinkin' cute it's almost unbearable.
Becky Cunningham · Oct 19, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Yoshi’s Woolly World doesn’t set a new bar for platformers, but it’s a beautiful game that showcases a constant stream of creative ideas. The yarn mechanics fit well with the classic Yoshi gameplay, and it’s a great choice to get all warm and fuzzy with someone this fall.
Daniel Bloodworth · Oct 16, 2015 Reviewed on Wii U - Yoshi’s Woolly World is a very good platformer. It’ll take you 15-20 hours to do everything, and it’s enough fun that it’ll probably get you wanting to play it again in a few years. It has solid Nintendo production values, retro platforming, and is appropriate for many ages and tastes. Despite some repetitive levels, and easy bosses, Yoshi’s Woolly World is highly recommended.
Stephan Adamus · Oct 15, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Yoshi’s Wooly World is an adorable game, and it’s often a fun one. However, the light difficulty prevents it from reaching the excellence of Yoshi’s Island. It’s still the best Yoshi adventure since that classic, but no one is going to bring up Wooly World in future “best platformer ever” discussions.
Mike Minotti · Oct 14, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - All of that said, Yoshi's Woolly World does its job remarkably well. It's a calm, fun little platformer with a unique aesthetic and a wonderful hook. I said above that it's mellow, and that's the best way I can describe it. Sometimes games don't need to be hard, don't need to punish or impress, sometimes they just need to delight and amaze you.
Jonathan Bolding · Oct 13, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Yoshi’s Woolly World is the Wii U’s best-looking game, as well as the best Yoshi’s Island since the original Super Nintendo title. It has a great balance of challenge, exciting bosses, callbacks to the first game, and enough new mechanics and touches to make it easily stand above each attempt at creating a Yoshi’s Island successor of the past two decades.
