  • World of WarCraft: Shadowlands surprised me completely. My apprehension over the theme and lingering doubts in pursuing Battle for Azeroth’s design principles prevented me from enjoying the usual new expansion hype. Instead, the expansion won me over on its own merits.

  • World of Warcraft: Shadowlands certainly manages to capture the same feelings we’ve had since first started playing the game. The leveling experience overhaul, constant sense of progress with rewards, and new campaign stories make Shadowlands a must-have for any avid player.

  • World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is a return to greatness for the franchise. The content is both accessible and fun for all types of players, and the story actually makes you feel like everything you’re doing is helping to save the Shadowlands. Torghast is one of the best features ever added and makes each experience unique and fun.

  • I was concerned about Shadowlands and Blizzard development in the COVID era. All those complex systems made a real mess on beta servers near the original game launch date in October. But other than some balance issues — and that core problem with covenant choices — the extra month of development time after the release date delay really gave Blizzard a chance to paint on some polish. The end result stands as one of the very best expansions the game’s ever had.

  • Many of my friends and old guildmates have returned to experience the new adventures, and for the moment it feels like old times and hits that comforting familiarity that is much needed this year. An outlet to let go of the dreary mundanity of real life, and immerse yourself fully in Azeroth.

  • Obviously, Shadowlands isn't perfect. There are some balancing and tweaking which need to be done and will continue throughout the expansion. However, this is an expansion where I can honestly say the core systems feel solid. It doesn't feel like anything key is missing, and like Blizzard needs to slap a giant band-aid on it to carry it through.

  • World of Warcraft never ceases to amaze. Blizzard continues to get tons of mileage out of the legendary MMO, with a step up for live story-telling, stunning art direction, and one of the richest launch endgame experiences we've seen to date.

Don't get me wrong: this one ranks highly in the pantheon, up there with Legion and Wrath of the Lich King, partly because it makes some honest and substantial attempts to reinvent the tired endgame formula. I'm just still not sure if it goes far enough to hold my interest, and subscription dollars, in between the meatier story drops in major patches.

  • World of Warcraft: Shadowlands' base experience offers a variety of excellent content through new zones and endgame content. The framework for a great stream of content is there, so for now, there's a lot to enjoy.

  • In its early form, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands has the potential to be one of the best expansions in the game's history. The story is on point, the endgame systems are the most exciting in years, and the new graphics tech makes the game look more modern than ever before.
