- Vicarious Visions has produced another excellent remake with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2. It brings those PS1 classics to the modern era with a wonderful visual upgrade, rock solid performance, and all the features you'd expect of a game released in 2020. Most importantly, though, it retains the specific feel of the franchise at its best, delivering an addictive, fast-paced, arcade-like experience.
Stephen Tailby · Jul 27, 2022 Reviewed on PS5, PS4Read full review - Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 is a return to form for the series, with Vicarious Visions improving the gameplay while maintaining what made those original games special. I had tons of fun playing it, and I will most likely spend dozens of hours playing it even more after writing this review.
Bart · Sep 20, 2021 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 looks and plays as good as you will remember it. The reality is that this remake is an incredibly faithful remake that gives us some clean, sharp visuals, quick responsive gameplay and a great soundtrack. It would have been nice to get a few new levels but for the price, this game delivers everything that you would want and expect from a modern version of a classic PS1 game.
Dan Hastings · Jul 02, 2021 Reviewed onRead full review - Whether this game is seen as the next great portable skateboarding game or a less visually pretty home console game, the most cogent point is that it plays incredibly and with so much to do across both of the remade games, this is one of the best skateboarding games ever made.
Neal Ronaghan · Jun 30, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is an excellent experience no matter what system it is played on. The Nintendo Switch version of the game is a little different, with a few limitations on what the game is able to achieve thanks to the hardware, but it remains enjoyable throughout.
Cody Peterson · Jun 29, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 was practically a perfect game when it launched, and here we’ve got a port that gets everything that worked about it and makes it portable – with only a few small concessions. If you’ve played it before, it’s absolutely worth being able to play it wherever you go, and if you haven’t given them a chance until now then the Nintendo Switch is a fantastic platform to do so.
George Foster · Jun 28, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Whether you’re a fan of the originals, or a curious party looking to get into skateboarding games, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a must play. All the original content, a smooth framerate, portability, loads of in-game customization, and a pinch of new content are a recipe for skateboarding success. Only a lack of create-a-skater options and lack of Spider-Man mar this fun flashback. This is what it’s like when worlds collide.
Stephan Adamus · Jun 27, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 on Nintendo Switch is a rock solid port of a pair of genuinely fantastic remakes. These really are two of the very best arcade sports titles of all time, revamped, reworked and re-imagined for modern audiences with all the graphical bells and whistles, collectibles and game modes we've come to expect in this day and age.
PJ O'Reilly · Jun 24, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Warehouse is the best opening level of all time, and you can spend hours in each park figuring out new lines. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remake is a magnificent game, and while the Nintendo Switch doesn’t offer the definitive version of the game, but it almost does, and that’s good enough for Jamie Thomas.
Stacey Henley · Jun 24, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Despite the huge decrease in visual fidelity, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is just as fun as it is on other consoles.
