- So far, Telltale Games’ Walking Dead releases have managed to impress with their mature, thought-provoking storylines and characters. Long Road Ahead is no exception. As the midway point of the series, it could’ve easily become a filler episode, but the shocks, twists, and character revelations keep the story’s momentum trundling along as steadily as the train Lee and company now ride on.
Stefanie Fogel · Sep 23, 2012 Reviewed on PCRead full review - While Episode 3 does not leave with you with that same “holy crap!” feeling you had during the previous episode, it still manages to throw in enough twists and turns along the way which almost guarantees you will download the next two installments just to see how it plays out. If you have downloaded the previous two Walking Dead episodes than all I can say is, what are you waiting for?
Trevor Houston · Sep 04, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - The gameplay has some rough edges, but as an interactive story, this is an experience that shouldn’t be missed.
Ben Reeves · Aug 31, 2012 Reviewed on - I honestly can't say much more about The Walking Dead Episode 3 without spoiling it in ways that I'm not willing to do. This, dear readers, is art, pure and simple. This is what the video game medium allows us to do. This is cinematic gaming at its absolute best—a direct, personal, jarring, dark narrative. Savor it while you can, before the zombie apocalypse brings an end to all things.
Angelo M. D'Argenio · Aug 30, 2012 Reviewed onRead full review - With Long Road Ahead, The Walking Dead has passed the midway point of its series of five episodes with every indication that the game will keep getting better right through to its inevitably depressing and unsettling conclusion. The emotional weight of your choices--made even heavier now that we are three episodes into the game and have established relationships with the characters--makes it a tough game to play in many ways, but also an extremely rewarding one that, like the comics, uses the undead to define what it means to be alive.
Brett Todd · Aug 30, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Telltale Games has done an incredible job keeping The Walking Dead fresh.
Sam White · Aug 30, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Just like I watch Rick Grimes evolve every month in The Walking Dead comics, I get to see myself evolve through the lens of Lee Everett with each episode of The Walking Dead: The Game. That's fascinating and disturbing at the same time. Each episode makes me care more and more about these characters, so the events of Long Road Ahead make it the most impactful episode to date. It's a disturbing, depressing and entertaining entry in a journey that's been nothing short of excellent so far.
GREG MILLER · Apr 23, 2012 Reviewed onRead full review - To call Long Road Ahead a joy would be a misleading. It is not joyous, enjoyable, or any other descriptive of such positivity. This is a tough and harrowing journey, torturous and riddled with sadness and regret. The decisions are harsh and the outcomes harsher, comeuppance rarely received and innocence well and truly lost. Yet it is a brilliant, absorbing and relentless journey, effortlessly playable and intensely fascinating; you will spend as much time thinking about the game as you will playing it, likely in one sweeping play-through.
Joseph Trotter · Sep 18, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - As with the past episodes, Long Road Ahead is a winner by adventure game standards, as one of the most successful adaptations of a comic property, and perhaps more importantly, a game that even non-fans of the adventure genre can enjoy. Some of the best storytelling in games is going on right here, and while it doesn’t have the production values of Heavy Rain, neither does it have that game’s large, gaping plot holes. I’d urge everyone to put up with some immersion-breaking bugs for the best adventure game of 2012.
Wayne Santos · Sep 11, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Even with a few minor technical issues, Long Road Ahead raises the bar for emotionally deep, thought-provoking narrative in a video game, and may be the best episode yet.
