  • The Princess Guide is a fun action adventure games which take you to the world of the Four Relics lands. They made sure you can enjoy each storyline separately by giving you the change to replay the game multiple times. The art is beyond gorgeous and the game is fully voice acted in Japanese, so some of you might not like that. But overall this game is one to watch and certainly we hope to see more great content or games from the developer Nippon Ichi Software because they still don’t cease to amaze with every game they present.

  • I wish I could say it was only the small details that were lacking, but when your QA team lets text this badly formatted through, I can only worry. After spending 13 hours, completing two full playthroughs and seeing three endings, I can only recommend The Princess Guide to the hardcore niche gamer who is looking for a light experience. Especially at $39.99. I’d say to wait for it to go to half off at least. However, if you’re interested, give it a shot, maybe you’ll be surprised.

  • Overall, it's an enjoyable action-focused romp, but everything feels a little scattershot. This is a game that packs in a lot but doesn't stick the landing on all that much. The Princess Guide offers up a pleasant little brawler that overcomplicates at every turn and is never truly satisfying.

  • When it’s firing on all cylinders, The Princess Guide is a somewhat deep, satisfying action game with vibrant visuals and humorous, whimsical storytelling. Unfortunately, it’s bogged down by trying to shove overengineered combat through a thick UX fog. After yet another “mission” that consists of moving on the map to intercept three enemy skirmishes to completion, a reasonable player might wonder: Is it worth $40 to praise-or-scold each Princess through a couple of hours of sword-swinging?

  • This is handy if you need to protect one of the islands from encroaching enemies, but outside of that, I haven’t yet seen another use for it. Best to hold onto your money and spend it on enhancing weapons. So how would I grade The Princess Guide? It gets high marks for engaging, yet somewhat predictable, story threads and having a variety of waifus, but clearly misses the mark in a few areas.

  • Others are just straight-up repeats of encounters I fought moments before, down to the same dungeon layout, enemy choice, and placement of relics. And while I am encouraged to run through this game with each princess to get their individual endings, once through is honestly enough for me. The Princess Guide is a game I enjoy less and less the more I play it. There is a sound structure here and some really clever ideas, but the weight of all its small issues really burden what should a fun and frivolous experience.

  • It's obvious that the game wants you to replay it to see every ending, but getting every princess' endings takes up significantly more time than it's worth for a game that never seems to evolve past the first mission. As it stands, I finished the game feeling like I had accomplished and done absolutely nothing. It's almost impressive how hollow The Princess Guide feels.

  • For fans of NISA/NIS games in general, this is a complete let-down. None of the systems work well or are even that interesting. The story is bland, the combat unnecessarily complex and unfulfilling, and the lack of conventional progression against scaling difficulty results in an experience infuriating all the way around. Nearly everything is far more complex than it needs to be, from issuing battle commands, to simply trying to know what is being equipped or what effect is has. If one had to choose between one word to describe the whole experience this would be a battle between 'frustrating' and 'disappointing.'

  • The Princess Guide is an adorable, energetic game. It has gorgeous art and fun, well-written characters. It's just marred by grinding through messy and poorly designed combat. The AI squad-mates that are so integral to the action have terrible AI that make it impossible to consistently coordinate any of their actions. There's massive heart and care put into the narrative and visual design of The Princess Guide, but that is weighed down by how frustrating it is to play the game.

  • En líneas generales, The Princess Guide es un juego que rezuma del estilo propio de las producciones de Nippon Ichi Software ofreciendo en este caso un curioso juego de corte action RPG con una historia a la vez curiosa como desenfadada.
