The interesting visuals and strict focus on the puzzles create an atmosphere in which it’s easy to stay lost even when frustration starts to set in.

Improx Games found the right balance between aesthetics and gameplay, and although The Last Cube is simplistic at its core, the sum is greater than the individual parts. The excellent puzzle designs challenge players to think ahead, and the puzzles are satisfying to complete. The game’s biggest issue is that there isn’t enough content here to justify the asking price, but if you’re able to pick this one up for half price at a sale, we’d say it’s worth it.

But the genre is getting increasingly crowded. The Last Cube can have good ideas and implementation but it also needed an interesting universe and better presentation to stand out.

It offers a different spin on puzzle platformers that manages an excellent difficulty balance throughout, giving the old noggin a good workout without making things too hard despite the potential for doing so.

Who knew flipping and rotating a cube to face the right way could be so involving, but The Last Cube revels in such a hidden complexity. The Last Cube is commendable in its execution, but even more delightful in its unraveling.

Its lack of story was a mild letdown, but not one I'm too bothered by since I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay.

Si tratta di un solido puzzle game che sa rinnovare di livello in livello le sue meccaniche e fermarsi quando non ha più nulla da dire o idee da presentare. Nei suoi cinque mondi però la sfida rimane sempre su un buon livello e persino la sua meccanica base rappresenta di per sé uno stimolo. La realizzazione tecnica è un po’ il suo punto debole, ma vista la dimensione del team si può chiudere un occhio.
