- As long as you're prepared to deal with the decidedly smaller community, the Wii U Edition of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is the best version of the game. It's essentially the exact same package with a few extras, and a few tiny conveniences that put it slightly over the original. While I wouldn't double-dip if you're already a Tekken adopter, the Wii U Edition is a great place to start.
Chris Carter · Nov 26, 2012 Reviewed onRead full review - It’s easy to recommend Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition as it’s the only fighting game out right now on Nintendo's new system, but Tekken is also franchise that’s cemented itself as a quality participant in the genre; this instalment is also bursting with content. There’s so much to do and so many characters to try that boredom will never be an issue. Add in the Wii U exclusive modes that will entertain series fans and newcomers alike, and you've got a title that any fighting game fan will need in their library.
Joe Walker · Nov 25, 2012 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - With its gigantic roster, in-depth character customization options, and breadth of modes, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is definitely a worthy addition to the franchise. That is, if you make it past some of the more frustrating and impenetrable aspects of the Tekken universe. As a way into the genre, it could certainly do a heck of a lot better. But once you’re in, it’s a perfectly solid experience in which brawling fans will find a lot to love.
Taylor Cocke · Nov 21, 2012 Reviewed onRead full review - The Wii U Edition’s new modes are more “goofy entertainment” than “substantial content.” But without them, the game’s still great--so you should look at these rowdy wranglings as icing on the Tekken cake. If you skipped TTT2 on other consoles and enjoy 3D arcade punch-ups, this is currently your best Wii U bet.
Lucas Sullivan · Nov 20, 2012 Reviewed on X360, Wii URead full review - Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is definitely a worthy addition to the franchise. Sure, it is not easy to jump right into any Tekken game without devoting several hours to understanding its system, but it is a very rewarding experience when you do, and this latest entry into the franchise is no different.
Daniel Kozlowski · Sep 22, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Overall, Tekken Tag 2 is a stellar brawler and must-have for any self-respecting beat-em-up aficionado. Fans meanwhile are sure to appreciate the amount of love Namco has provided in regards to game endings and the abundance of characters on offer. With plenty of game modes to tuck into, solid gameplay – including the awesome Tag mechanics – plus a great online experience, Tekken Tag 2 is probably the best incarnation of the franchise in years.
Michael Harradence · Sep 17, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Tekken's complex mechanics can be difficult to grasp, but Tekken Tag Tournament 2 marks the first time that novice and veteran players alike have been given the means to understand and improve. Tekken Tag Tournament 2's kitchen sink approach could have turned this game into a messy jumble of modes, characters, and features. Instead, this massive fighting game looks downright elegant. It's a polished, vibrant fighter with very few faults.
Michael McWhertor · Sep 13, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is everything that a sequel to the original should be: more characters, more fighting mechanics, more moves, and more over-the-top craziness. Namco Bandai understands that the hardcore fighting community is one that the game needs to hit, and has rightfully incorporated the World Team Federation and online connectivity options in this effort. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 deserves to be in any fighting fan's catalogue and is well worth the partnership.
Nick Tan · Sep 12, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is a hell of a fighter with some interesting additions that frankly, no one else is doing. That’s great and all, but I do think it’s time to Tekken to follow other’s lead and do something drastic to reinvigorate and reinvent the series. While it’s not a terrible thing, it really is just more of the same. But that “same” just so happens to be a solid, deep, rewarding fighter, with a huge, but somewhat bland roster.
Anthony Severino · Sep 12, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Overall, I would call Tekken Tag Tournament 2 a must buy, period. If you are a Tekken fan, you'll drool over the nostalgia and huge roster. If you aren't, then this is definitely the game that will sell you on Tekken. Go out, buy it, and enter the King of the Iron Fist tournament yourself!
