- It feels great to be playing Super Meat Boy again, despite the soundtrack problem. I can’t say enough good things about it, but you should know that the difficulty ramps up pretty steadily and somewhere during the third world, the gloves really come off. Enjoy the Warp Zone of World 5-7, kids! If you can find a similarly-experienced buddy, the two-player race is really quite fun.
Zachary Miller · Jan 22, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Super Meat Boy is another excellent indie addition to Switch's library. The short, but challenging levels are a perfect fit for portable play, and the game runs perfectly in both handheld and TV modes. The tight platforming mechanics and wealth of hidden warp zones, bandages and playable characters are enough to keep us coming back for more.
Steve Bowling · Jan 21, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, the Switch release of Super Meat Boy is an improvement on an already amazing game. Everything about the game is better on the Switch – from the resolution to the fact you can carry it around with you to the controller scheme to the fact that we may now get a SMB Amiibo collection. We might have made that last part up… but a guy can dream.
Ben Smith · Jan 17, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Super Meat Boy is one of the toughest platformers I’ve ever played. What starts out as challenging quickly transforms into a series of nightmarish playgrounds that had me cursing with frustration but more importantly always returning for more. With the inclusion of an all-new race mode, the Switch version of Super Meat Boy is one of the best yet and even worth a try for those who might already be familiar with this demanding game.
Ryan Janes · Jan 17, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The Wii U port for Super Meat Boy may not necessarily bring anything new to the table, but it's still an enjoyable experience. The new music is great. The level design is brilliant. The gameplay is difficult, yet satisfying. It's an excellent ode to original platformers, and a nice middle-finger to a lot of games that hold your hand throughout your experience. Super Meat Boy is trial by fire; here's hoping you make it out alive!
Evan Chambers · May 09, 2016 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Super Meat Boy lands on PlayStation platforms and boy is it a welcome release! With great platforming and a learning curve that ensures you are always challenged you will find yourself coming back to this game in order to get the best run. Some players may be put off by the difficulty of Super Meat Boy, but if you stick with it then the sense of achievement when you overcome a tough level will keep you hungry for more!
Charlie Large · Oct 13, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Though I’m not saying, “people who suck at games shouldn’t bother,” (because I’d never describe myself as an advanced player) it’s just that a few out there may genuinely not enjoy how far this game goes in challenging you. But if you love platformers and were dying to play one till your hands hurt, one with personality that comically recognizes its retro influences without cashing in on nostalgia to be fun, that’s tough but fair, and that will make you feel like you really earned the Achievement when you finally beat it, get Super Meat Boy. You won’t regret it.
Henry Gilbert · Jun 24, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Super Meat Boy is one of the best modern platformers. It's infuriating, exasperating, and arduous, but it's also delightful, thrilling, and hilarious. The NES games of yore were simultaneously simpler and more challenging than today's games, a quality perfectly emulated here. Invite some friends over and pass the controller around -- you're gonna need all the help you can get.
Daemon Hatfield · Dec 01, 2010 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Super Meat Boy is a masterful platformer packed with multitudes of cool stuff, and it will keep you playing well longer than its bargain price tag would suggest. It's a steal at its current special price of 800 Microsoft points, and well worth the 1200 it'll eventually get bumped to. Prepare yourself for some state-of-the-art retro gaming.
Game Trailers · Oct 25, 2010 Reviewed on X360 - Super Meat Boy taps into the exact kind of things I want from a video game - it's bold, challenging and, above all, rewarding. I can certainly understand how people might not be attracted to a game that takes a sadistic delight in coming up with inventive ways to frustrate players, but you'd be missing out if you let Super Meat Boy pass you by.
