- Steel Division 2 is a good game buried under layers of frustrating obfuscation and burdened with a poor single player experience. Every time I was close to getting fully immersed, a new, ugly problem reared up to distract me. The ambitious bones of a truly great game are here, but ultimately it's hard to recommend this to anyone but those who already love the series' unique multiplayer.

The new Eastern Front divisions bring plenty to the table to reinvigorate the multiplayer and skirmish modes. The combat mechanics themselves haven’t evolved all that much, but they work well enough without trying to reinvent the wheel. Just stay away from the Army General campaign. And if you didn’t play Normandy 44, you’ll probably need to give it a spin first as it does a great job of explaining a lot of things that Steel Division 2 won’t even bother to.

Sergey_3847 · Jun 26, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Steel Division 2 is a game with some excellent ideas, such as the Army General campaigns, the attention to detail and the sheer size of battles in multiplayer and, to a lesser extent, skirmish. Also, it looks great and, despite the sheer size, can be really engrossing to play. At least for the most part, with the game being let down by an incredibly high barrier for entry, offering no help because the tutorial is a sheer Berlin-wall of text and an AI that seemingly decides it's only fair for it to cheat, all of which can take you out of the game.

It does have solid foundations perfect for more improvements in the future.

Steel Division 2 no pasa de ser una ampliación del original de hace dos años, lo cual es excelente, pero se queda lejos de ser un título realmente nuevo que justifique su precio.

Einerseits bietet die Hardcore-Strategie mit ihren gigantischen Karten, großen Truppenverbänden und der übergeordneten Strategiekarte mit spannenden Szenarien im neuen Army-General-Modus im Grunde alles, was das Taktik-Herz begehrt – inklusive fieser Stellungskämpfe und brutaler Panzerschlachten. Gleichzeitig ist aber insbesondere die Präsentation für Serien-Einsteiger und Solisten eine Katastrophe.

Benjamin Danneberg · Jun 28, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Si les mécaniques qui sont au coeur de Steel Division 2 sont toujours aussi solides, le jeu d’Eugen Systems souffre pourtant d’un manque de finition et d’accessibilité terriblement agaçant. Riche, profond et minutieux dans son gameplay, il sait aussi être velu, frustrant et bancal par moments. Moins soigné que son aîné, ce deuxième volet voit ses quelques nouveautés, à commencer par le mode Army General, être gangrenées par des soucis d’ergonomie et un sex-appeal en berne. En résulte un épisode qui fait paradoxalement du sur place, ou presque.

Si vous aviez apprécié l'original, il est bien difficile de passer à coté de cet épisode. Le front de l'Est est un beau terrain de jeu et permet d'apporter pas mal de changements intéressants. Le mode Army General s'avère une très belle réussite et mérite à lui seul de se lancer dans l'aventure. Mais il faut vraiment espérer que le workshop soit disponible rapidement car c'est surtout grâce à lui que le premier jeu avait pu vivre sur le long terme.
