From the satisfying trooper battles on the ground to the thrilling dogfights in space, Battlefront 2 has struck back, delivering an unrivaled Force-fueled multiplayer fantasy.

  • It’s a shame that EA and Dice missed the mark so badly on what could have been a sure fire hit. A lackluster campaign ended up hurting the overall package instead of helping it, and the multiplayer progression system is just insultingly bad.

  • Star Wars Battlefront 2 has the potential to be an amazing game, however, it is unlikely we’ll ever get to play the real game as it's hidden beneath microtransactions. In an ideal world, EA would remove the Star Card system completely and replace it with something that doesn’t interfere with the gameplay. If you are on the fence, maybe wait a few weeks to see how EA deal with the progression system beforehand. That being said, even with Battlefront 2’s flaws I’d still say it’s worth playing.

  • Arcade mode isn’t all that compelling as it gives out fewer rewards than other modes, and multiplayer, while fun, has an uncertain future. However, Star Wars fans looking to play the best-looking Star Wars game and experience some truly exciting dogfights between TIE fighters and X-Wings may still manage to get their money’s worth.

  • Star Wars Battlefront II's progression system may indeed be too loot box centered, but that doesn't stop it from being a mighty fine way to spend your time.

Star Wars Battlefront II stumbles out of the gate with its progression system. I hope it gets ironed out because the underlying multiplayer is extremely fun. The campaign is short and sweet, but a little too fan-servic-y for me. As it stands this is a solid sequel with some highly noticeable blemishes. I will continue to play because of my love for Star Wars, but I do hope it gets ironed out before players lose interest.

  • A good core game of cool Star Wars battles on fun and interesting maps is bogged down by clumsy, convoluted progression systems, and the single player is interesting but unfinished.

  • Here we are with a game that largely succeeds at presenting arcade warfare in a Star Wars skin. It’s fast and gorgeous. Battles feel frantic without being overwhelming, and team goals change as matches proceed. Playing as hero characters is a celebratory experience, and taking one down as an insignificant grunt is a dopamine blast.

  • When you design a Star Wars game around a loot crate system, you're bound to have issues. In this case, not even gorgeous graphics and smooth gameplay can make up for the mistakes made by EA and DICE.

  • Star Wars Battlefront II is a solid well rounded game that packs a huge portion of content to sink into. The campaign (although short) is intriguing, well written and well voiced. I do wish there had been more to it but what we do get to witness is satisfying in both concept and delivery. The multiplayer is deeply robust, and although the progression system is quite literally baffling to begin with, it does fall into place when you put in the time. It certainly could have done with more explanation, that’s for sure.
