- Slender: The Arrival did manage to perform well on the switch and of course give me some truly great scares but let’s be honest. The Repetitive mechanics do start to take away from the scares and morph into frustration. The concept was great and I am impressed with how far the developers went but I think a different direction would have turned the tables.
Kris Brooks · Jun 28, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Slender: The Arrival is not the best-looking game either. Well, I am actually being very kind to it there; it is a horrid looking game on the Switch. It is a title from 2013, but it looks like it pre-dates that by a good number of years. It seems that too much was scaled back and downgraded, in order to make the Switch be able to run the title at a decent framerate.
Jamie Ward · Jun 28, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - When you're not getting annoyed at being unable to find the final item in a given area, Slender: The Arrival is an excellent horror game that will leave your pulse racing. It's terrifying to be chased by these relentless enemies - frightening to see them no matter where you turn as you lose yourself deeper and deeper in the game's maze-like environments.
Joel Couture · Oct 28, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Despite that, Slender: The Arrival still got under my skin. I'm not quite as warm to it as I was before, but it's an eerie experience that's seeped into my real life. Now, on long car rides or when I'm in a sparsely populated area in the dead of night, I'll catch glints of light and my heart will stutter at the thought that Slender Man could be at the edge of my periphery. All I can do is turn away and keep walking.
Daniel Starkey · Apr 11, 2015 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - Slender: The Arrival boasts some genuinely scary moments, but offers little beyond them. Chapters serve as a mini party game with friends, making this point-and-click game more of a horror movie than an actual interactive scare fest. The lack of a real story dampers things further, and if by some weird chance that players suffer the Slenderman hunt a second time, the feeling of that genuine fright will be long gone.
Bryan Dupont-Gray · Apr 01, 2015 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - If you’re looking to experience pure horror then Slender: The Arrival is one of the best games currently available. Although its gameplay mechanics are monotonous, its varied locations and constant tension throughout create a unique experience that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled. I liked that the story was non-intrusive and still left a lot of mystery with regards to the titular Slender Man, maintaining your fear of him on subsequent playthroughs.
Rich · Apr 01, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Slender Man captured the internet's imagination because of what a great embodiment of terror he is; he's uncaring, unstoppable, and unknown. Slender: The Arrival manages to dull Slendy's mystique by shining a light on him and revealing his terrible secret: he's the star of a really crappy video game.
Alex Langley · Mar 31, 2015 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - If you like horror, but you’ve yet to have the pleasure of Slender Man’s company, his Xbox One incarnation is absolutely worth its budget price tag. The Eight Page template loses its bite with repeat exposure, but the game’s volatility remains invigorating given the genre's continued reliance on scripted scares and sheer grotesqueness.
Edwin Evans-Thirlwell · Mar 30, 2015 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Slender: The Arrival has solid qualities, as well as some hit or miss tendencies, leaning towards the miss side. Undoubtedly, this one is under the horror classification and does its job throwing out its scary surprises, and for better or worse, there are still some accidental funny moments that you can’t help but laugh at.
Devin Charles · Mar 27, 2015 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Overall, Slender: The Arrival was pretty well done. It has issues. Make no mistake. There were a lot of glitches (unintentional ones), a lot of scaling and framerate issues, as well as limited controls, vast amounts of dead space, and a story that could still be fleshed out more before being a contender.
