Critic Reviews
- Skyforge is a properly mediocre MMORPG that could, perhaps, have been a reasonable enough little timesink for a bunch of friends or solo players who just want to mindlessly blow through its content without thinking too much. There's no shortage of content here, and the idea of having eighteen different classes to master is an attractive one.
PJ O'Reilly · Mar 06, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - One plus side of this release is that Skyforge is free to play! If you own a Nintendo Switch, there is absolutely no risk at all involved for you to jump in the game and try it out for yourself. I always highly encourage anyone who has even the slightest bit of interest to try it out for themselves. I will definitely be keeping my eye on Skyforge for the next few weeks to see whether or not they pull through on their end with fixes. If that happens, I would be more than happy to update this review with a newer article, score, and impressions. For now, I’ll just have to say goodbye to my beautiful wings and halo, and hang them up for a day when they can be utilized to their fullest without the constant crashing.
Emily Byrnes · Feb 26, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, I had a good time with Skyforge. The combat and the missions were enough to make me want to return to it, and the story was passably entertaining, if not exactly riveting. While it’s got some issues, I think that if it gets a little polish, it’ll be a pretty solid game. Pending the necessary currency clarity and a bit of cleaning up, it could fill an enormous void on the Switch and give us an MMO we need.
Daymon Trapold · Feb 19, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - On one hand, the combat in Skyforge can be great. But on the other? You’ll repeat so many “adventures” and there’s so precious little else to do except grind prestige that the game quickly leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Skyforge is a beautiful game. The characters themselves seem a little homogenized and bland, but the art direction of the world, the UI, and the overall sound are superb. Points off for the god-awful voice acting though.
William Murphy · Aug 05, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Despite these issues, the core combat may be enjoyable enough for some people to disregard some of the issues presented by Skyforge’s system designs. Overall, for anyone looking to try Skyforge, be they casual, avid or hardcore, their mileages on the game may vary.
Michael Sagoe · Jul 17, 2015 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1Read full review - But despite that, I’m struggling to think of a reason why I would pick Skyforge over Diablo III or Warframe. Both are a million miles away in terms of their ports and have much more compelling combat, loot, and progression loops. Warframe is also free, features the ability to swap between unlocked frames, and has much more reasonable pricing if you do intend to spend.
