61Catalyst Black is unquestionably a bright new star for competitive mobile gaming. SEMC has delivered the same quality and design that made Vainglory so successful, with even more support for drop-in gameplay. Catalyst Black has also broadened its scope, offering more game modes and flexibility that will welcome not only MOBA and shooter fans, but other gamers looking for a shot of gaming adrenaline.
I totally get this is the kind of series that is better played over days at a time – and this entry in the franchise in particular is a slow starter – but that’s still no excuse for the half steps when it comes to anything gameplay related. I came to realize what I had in front of me was a puddle as deep as the ocean. I was hoping for a game and got a toy instead.
I may not have nostalgia for the game, but it’s satisfying for me to play. I can spend a couple of hours making money and gaining exp at the same time, then hop off to do something else. I can change classes at will, trying new builds and gameplay features. I had fun, and I hope you are willing to give it a chance too. For those of you that prefer the other version, fear not. It’s still around, and they’ll receive content at the same time. But for me? I’ll be Unchained.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare retreads old ground in the hopes of calling back to the good old days and does so in the most spectacularly polarizing way possible. If you can ignore or forgive the Shock and Awful approach to the singleplayer, then there’s still a lot to appreciate here.
I recommend this for someone looking to play a Korean-style MMO without the P2W features. There are Deluxe versions of the game that come with more cosmetics and temporary buffs, but this does not offer players a pay-to-win advantage. Thirty dollars is not a bad price for how much the game offers.
Caravan Stories offers something enjoyable, and if you can overlook the monetization. I could not do that. I don’t hate the Stamina system, since it does encourage you to try other characters in your party, and that’s fine. There is depth and enjoyment to be had if you can get through the minefield of microtransactions.
It’s just as gratifying to send hope as it is to receive it, and perhaps cathartic knowing that others are dealing with troubles the same as you are. It is perhaps a little bit sad that this is a certainly needed resource in our modern world, but I think that Kind Words definitely fills that need. I give it 5 of 5 paper airplanes, and I hope that this bud blooms into a glorious rose.
I had quite a bit of fun with Rise of Legions, and this is one of those games that I’ll keep around post-review. I might not dedicate a ton of my limited spare time to the game, but I can definitely see hopping on to grind out dailies and weeklies on a regular basis and building up my decks. I give RoL 4 out of 5 shuffles due to its innovative take on MOBA games, simple but clean graphics, solid community, and fun gameplay lacking in noticeable bugs.
Black Desert doesn’t have what I’m looking for. It’s a far from a perfect game, but it’s serviceable in its own way. I can’t recall a single memorable quest or moment in the story, and almost nothing in the game is explained. The veterans, for the most part, are willing to help players figure things out. Having friends already in the game will also help. There is still a great deal to do to make it a fantastic MMO, but I love that you can without a doubt play this world your way.
It can be challenging, and overwhelming at first, but if you stick with it you start to pick things up. It can be a good bit of mindless fun. I found myself wandering over to it towards the end of the day, when my brain was feeling a bit mushy, as it’s a great game to just mindlessly zone out and fly around in. Steambirds Alliance is a solid 4 out of 5 propeller blades, based on its current trajectory.
