  • For those that missed Rayman 2 the first time around, this latest iteration provides the perfect excuse to discover a highly regarded classic. Yet for those that have seen it all before, there isn’t much to entice you to pick it up again aside from a marginally improved camera system and, of course, the enhancement provided by stereoscopic 3D. Still, even eleven years on, Rayman 3D proves that Ubisoft’s unsung platforming hero has enough charm and style to rub shoulders with the very best of them.

  • If you have an itch for a Mario 64 clone, and want to check out a decent platformer, Rayman 3D gets the job done. However, if you've already played the game, I would wait until this launch title hits the bargain bin, as just simply slapping on 3D effects and calling Rayman 2 a new game is not enough to merit your $40. Plus, we don't want 3D-makes to become the next Wii-makes, do we?

Rayman 3D was once a brilliant game, but it's showing its age. And without any real improvements to the gameplay or the visuals, it feels old. The entire time I was playing, I felt ripped off. I'd been suckered into thinking I would be getting something new and dazzling and instead, I ran into the same problems I had 11years ago. Don't bother with this rehash on 3DS.

  • Ultimately, Rayman 3D might not be the complete reworking that some fans had hoped for, but it is a solid portable version of what remains one of the better 3D platformers. There are a few minor issues here and there, like the somewhat average visuals and a camera that doesn't always cooperate, but for the most part the game still manages to capture the majority of the magic from its earlier console days.

  • With Mario nowhere to be found at the Nintendo 3DS launch, Rayman fills the platformer gap nicely. I had a blast playing it again, and look forward to reviewing it for a fifth time at some point in the near future.

  • In 2D, it's a damn fine platform game. In 3D, it's a surprisingly good showcase for the hardware. Put them together and you've got by far the best modern version of the game, with better controls than iPhone version and better graphics than the old DS.

  • Despite a camera that often refuses to behave itself, Rayman 3D is as robust as it is enjoyable. It's certainly not going to set the world on fire, but it's a perfectly adequate filler until the chap in the red overalls turns up.

  • If you've played one of the many other versions of the game, you're not going to find anything different here aside from the 3D aspects. If you accept it on its own terms, however, it's hard to deny that Rayman 3D serves as a satisfactory introduction if you're approaching the series for the first time. Despite some issues with its camera and frame rate performance, Rayman 3D provides many hours of enjoyable gameplay.

  • Rayman 3D is an artefact. It's completely anachronistic in today's world. If you speak its dying language, there is still fun to be had in this surreal, angular, polygonal universe. But this is a 12 year-old game being marketed as a new experience, and that sort of thing really ought to be discouraged.

  • Rayman 3D is like a tale of two games. On one hand, the game was criticially acclaimed upon its initial release, and even now, it is still a blast to play. On the other hand, the game is merely a bare-bones port of the original release, and in some cases (such as audio) doesn't even compare to the original release favorably. With the small amount of 3DS titles currently available, Rayman 3D fills the platformer genre gap well. However, there were many missed opportunities to improve upon the original game, and thus, Rayman 3D feels underwhelming.
