  • That being said, there is more depth than I expected, given the number of challenges and the skill that is involved to get past some of the harder ones. As well, the exclusion of any multiplayer seems like a missed opportunity to me. At the end of the day Pilotwings Resort isn’t a bad game, especially for a launch title, it is just that it definitely could been a lot more than it was.

  • It's a different kind of game that will appeal to specific players, but the lack of content won't keep anyone coming back for long

  • Pilotwings Resort delivers the fun, engaging, family-orientated experience that Nintendo has continually been able to provide, whilst still being able to offer a distinct level of challenge. Whilst a little light on content, it marks a welcome return for the series and one that you shouldn’t be wary of missing out on.

  • I would really love to give this one a hearty recommendation, as I found plenty of enjoyment flying the various flying machines around and completing missions.

  • This is a good-looking game that's easy to pick up and have some fun with, and it does a great job of presenting you with increasingly challenging missions as you progress. It lacks both the variety and the longevity to be recommended without hesitation, though, and--presentation aside--it is inferior to its 15-year-old predecessor in just about every way.

  • On its own merits, Pilotwings Resort offers lighthearted flight action that's fun enough while it lasts, but it just doesn't last very long. As if the brevity of the mission lineup weren't enough, there's no support for StreetPass or the 3DS' other nifty system-level features that would have let you further explore all the cool stuff your new handheld can do.

Colourful, crisp and with horizons that have never looked so distant. It’s disappointing, then, that you’ll discover its limits so quickly

  • After a few minutes of 3D play each session, I switched it back to 2D and enjoyed the experience just as much, if not more. Even when flat, Pilotwings Resort looks presentable and clean.

  • What Monster Games has delivered with Pilotwings Resort is good fun, with satisfying flight controls across all of the game’s vehicles. Even still, it feels a bit empty. Most of the game content can be unlocked in a measly few hours, and the extras are not only trivial, but can get extremely aggravating to unlock.

  • At its core the majority of the game is still just basically flying around the island, but there's enough variety between the various missions to keep things fresh and enough unlockable goodies to keep you coming back for more. It might have been a rather long wait for a new Pilotwings release, but Nintendo couldn't have picked a better system for it.
